Incompetent from Top to Bottom

"Worst customer support I've experienced in years, if ever. I ordered a fully kitted out gaming PC for my retirement. Here's what three months and nearly $14,000 got me.

First, it arrived dead with two of eight disks (25%) non-functional. Origin tried to blame shipping but after pulling one of the disks I could see it was installed incorrectly. It was mounted with the wrong screw and it caused a visible bend. I sent photos to Origin and they admitted it was their fault and "expedited" replacement parts in four days rather than the normal ten. Neither disk worked. One was DOA and the other was the wrong part with a mount for a different motherboard. That's two strikes already (or more, depending on how you count).

They decided to have me ship it to them for repairs. This was a bit of a concern because of how it came packed. Origin ships in heavy wooden crates assembled with dozens of screws and industrial staples. It's a completely unnecessary gimmick and it makes repacking an intimidating task. My concerns were worsened by the packing "instructions" they sent. It was a long list of *what* to pack and one single line on *how* to pack (bolded and highlighted in the original):

Package your system securely (**Failure to do so may lead to shipping damage that ORIGIN PC will not be responsible for.**)

I needed a bit more assurance that this wasn't some kind of scam, with how quickly they tried to blame shipping initially it seemed like their go-to move. I contacted them with my concerns and was ghosted for three days. No replies, no calls back, nothing. That was strike three, I was done with this company. I called and said that I want a refund and it's up to them to deal with the packing. After talking to three different techs someone was finally willing to go on the record that I wouldn't be held liable for shipping damage, once UPS picks it up it's on them. So I packed it up, replacing a couple broken bits as best I could.

Apparently not one of those three techs wrote down that I wanted a refund, because I got an email after sending it back that they were repairing it and it would be shipped soon. I emailed to say that it was a return, not a repair, and that's when they went from incompetent to insulting. They said I would be charged a 15% restocking fee and have to pay all the shipping. I'd be paying over $2,500 for the fun of doing QA's job. After threatening lawyers I got a written confirmation of a 100% refund within 3-5 days. That was 15 days ago and the company has stopped returning my calls, so I may have to get my attorneys on it after all.

Stay far away from Origin PC.

Great customer service department, lousy sales department.

"After my PC experienced a catastrophic failure I needed to purchase a replacement. Shopping around I was quoted 30 to 45 days for delivery, Origin claimed 15 days. Based on that claim I purchased from them even though their price was several hundred dollars above what I was being quoted for a similar system from other vendors. After accepting my order I was quickly informed that it would take 30 day to fulfill my order, as that 30 day estimate was approaching I got another email from the sales department informing me that my order would be delayed by another two weeks. A couple days before the order actually shipped I got another email from sales claiming another delay which turned out to be untrue.
As bad as the sales department was their customer service department was awesome. Two days after receiving my new PC the GPU failed. I called customer service to explain my problem and what steps I took to diagnose the problem. They accepted my diagnosis and immediately shipped out a new GPU rater than requiring me to ship the PC back to them for repair.

"This is the first gaming pc that i have had built always have built my on. when i got it set up and running the video card must have got damaged during shipping not Origins fault at all they had me a new card in three days very good customer service. Looks great top shelf all the way around. I will game with alot of people and i am recommending this to all my friends!!!!!!!!!! "

Excellent service

"I had an issue with my GPU on my pc that I purchased from Origin. I called there service department after hours and I had a service tech help me and walk me step by step through trouble shooting steps. Even though we couldn't solve the issue he made sure the part that failed was replaced quickly. Origin pc stand behind their products with great customer service! There great customer service started from the time I originally ordered the pc to my issue! Now a days is sad but true its hard to find a company that does that. Thanks to Rafael de la Torre, and William Ling the techs that helped me. Also Thank you Origin pc for standing behind the pc you built for me! "

Astounding Service!

"My laptop may have been a bit expensive compared to other similar options, but Origin PC makes up for it with their amazing customer support. My laptop recently had a hinge guard break and I filed a ticket to replace the part. Not only did I get a quick response, but I was allowed to fix it myself. This gave me the chance to continue doing work on my device up until the part arrived at my door. The staff is also verry friendly and this is backed up in Linus Tech Tips video. I would strongly recommend Origin PC to anyone who cares about support after purchase and high quality devices."

Memory Upgrade

"I wanted to upgrade the memory in my Origin Genesys PC system, which had been purchased in 2018 for flight simulation. It had 16 GB of DDR4 memory as two modules of 8GB each. This was more than enough to run Prepar3d, but when Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 came out I started having frequent crash to desktop (CTD) errors when trying to run it. I called Origin and was told that I could not increase the memory to 32 GB, but could buy four 16 GB modules for a total of 64 GB. I purchased these, and found that it included an additional fan. The installation went with no problems. The fan works perfectly, and all CTD issues have disappeared. I am very grateful for the support I received from Origin technical support. I am one very satisfied customer! "

AMAZING SERVICE

"My PC was ordered right after the holidays, and what I expected to be a very long and drawn out wait for my PC turned into a short wait and a free upgrade for dealing with wait times due to Covid and the holiday season that just recently passed.
Extremely friendly staff and very knowledgeable anytime I called. Best customer service I have experienced in the past few years leading into 2021. I have officially recommended all my friends to Origin PC simply because that make you feel like family.

Gaming ("High Performance") Laptop, ONLY consider Origin..

"Years back, I've always dreamed of owning a high performance laptop, especially an Alienware. Unfortunately I heard countless negative reviews on that system since it has been swallowed up by a large conglomerate not many years after it's launch. It's that bad, Dell doesn't even have a direct customer service for Alienware, it's a 3rd party and you must pay an arm and leg to use it! Upon considering building an Origin rig, I noticed Corsair bought them out which concerned me (as we've seen what happened in the earlier mashup). It's been 1 year and 2.5 mos. with this pc. Had some big problems with videocard crashing. They walked me through re-seating the videocard and I'll never look back. To my mind some of the best gaming pcs on the market."

Wish It Went Differently

"I was very excited to be part of the Origin Pc team and I did my homework and read reviews because this was going to be my first big purchase for a gaming pc. It was going to be a huge investment for my career as well. In fact, Origin Pc was the first option on my list to purchase because of PewDiePie.

When I got my tower, which came in a couple of days early (somewhere in OCTOBER 2020), there were already a couple of problems with the motherboard and the liquid cooling. I had no WIFI, no Bluetooth, and the liquid cooling tube was bent at a questionable and concerning angle. I spent a couple of hours on the phone with Raul, one of the tech supports, trying to figure out the problem and we came to a conclusion that I will get a free WIFI card. I spent a couple of days not using my tower and when the WIFI card came I installed it with the help of Raul. Raul stated that if I had any problems, I should contact the company and they would help me with my problems, since I have a one year warranty with them. Keep in mind that the bent tube is not fixed and I still do not have Bluetooth (which I was fine with at that time). I was just told to keep an eye out on the liquid cooling to see if anything goes south.

Somewhere in December 2020, I realized that I spent $5k on this pc and I want to add Bluetooth, fix the bent tube because the liquid was actually evaporating pretty fast, and I wanted to see if it was possible to install WIFI and take away the WIFI card. I also wanted to see if I could upgrade my graphics cards but it was not a priority. I called about two times (one in Dec. and one in Jan.) and I got the same answers from two different people. I was told that I can fix my problems by buying a Bluetooth card(?), then buy more liquid to refill the cooling liquid tank, and if my pc is not overheating I should be fine. I called because I was told that the company would fix up my tower if there was anything wrong with it but instead I was told to buy more components for my pc, WHICH should have been fixed and included in the first place. Why am I going to buy a Bluetooth card and fix the bent tube myself? I should not be paying for Bluetooth that should have been there. I should not be responsible for fixing the bent tube and then refilling when it was not my mistake to begin with. After my second call, I was very disappointed and decided to return the pc.
I did not want to be involved with a company that will make me spend more money on things when:
1. it was not my fault. I did not break anything or forgot a component that is supposed to be there.
2. I am still under the one year warranty.
&
3. I do not want to deal with these shenanigans in the future if I ever have another problem.

Needless to say, I sent back the defective tower and I still can't get a full refund of $5k and something cents. To be honest, I just want as much money as I can get back and get the tower out of my sight. I think that I was very understanding and communicated my problems well when it came to my part. Please be more customer oriented and be more precise with the builds. It disheartens me to write a negative review but I have to voice my experience for the people who are contemplating on joining the ORIGIN PC family and who are spending tons of money for their dream to become reality.

Horrible experience from shipping to a broken graphics card

"This is by far one the worst experiences with a company I have ever had. I placed my order in early December and the estimated shipping date was the 8th-12th. Once the 12th came and went and then a few more days passed I thought to give them a call. They informed that they were unable to acquire my desired graphics card and that the pc will be delayed about a week. That wasn’t the end of the world because I understood during COVID things can be a little unpredictable. Another week came and went and still no word. Call them again and am informed it will be another week until it’s shipped. Wasn’t the best news but I could live with it. Then another week came and went still no word. I eventually received my PC on January 25th, nearly two months after purchasing it. Finally finished work for the day and booted the PC up to discover that the graphics card they sent me did not work when you put the ever so slightest amount of load on it. You would think that they do a load test before shipping out the nearly $3,000 pc, but I guess those tests aren’t necessary for the mighty origin pc. It has now been an additional two weeks since then and I still do not have a replacement graphics card. HIGHLY DO NOT recommend buying a pc from here unless you want a 3 month + process. "
