Legendary

"To be completely honest, I emailed as mostly a joke, but the person who cane and responded to the ticket still treated me with tons of respect and made my day much better. He has only reinforced the fact that Origin and it’s support team are a great company with great people working as a part of it. 10/10 was amazing."

Great experience

"I ordered a new PC for my son who is about to enter high school. Origin's prices are competitive with other boutique PC builders like Digital Storm, Falcon Northwest, etc. They have a good selection of components to pick from at every level. The PC I specced out is fairly high end without going overboard - Intel I7 10800K, MSI MEG Z490 motherboard, 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, 2TB M.2 SSD, 2080 Super video card, AIO liquid cooling, and a Corsair 175R case.

The PC shipped on time and arrived, as promised, in a giant armored wooden crate. Everything was well protected and in perfect condition.

The PC itself is immaculate - cables are routed cleanly, everything is neat and tidy and done with as much care as I would have used myself. Performance is exactly as I expected given the hardware I specified.

I can't really speak to the quality of their technical support since I have not had any problems. Their pre- and post- sale communications were great, however; they answered my questions promptly and kept me up to date on the order process.

Overall this was a great experience and I will be a returning customer.

Great customer service BUT...

"Jake helped me build a pc of my dreams and I cannot wait to buy it and share my thoughts on it, however, getting Jake to help me was not an easy road. I emailed four times and waited a month to get a reply back. Maybe it was due to demands being so high or the email was incorrect. Whatever it may be, that did not stop me from asking for help from the team to build my dream pc as I know things can become difficult during these times. I truly appreciate the response and the aid that I received from Origin. When I get my pc, I will gladly share my experience!"

GENESIS

"I ordered a GENESIS system, it took a while but to my surprise when the package arrived I was in a shock.
Big, bulky, and heavy wooden box, not that is a problem at all. I followed their precise instructions and youtube video, within 30 minutes I was up and running without a glitch.
I'm very pleased about the whole experience, PC quality and without any hesitation, based on my experience with them I strongly recommend this ORIGIN PC business. I give them a 5+ rating.

50/50, happy/not happy

" (happy 50) First off the customer service is amazing couldn't be more pleased with the quickness of replies, and connected agents. making adjustments to my build was super easy, and thorough thanks to the sales representative.

(not happy 50)
additional week on receiving build which was 5K+. not a huge deal, but it all adds up.
upon receiving the PC which looks very nice the GPU (rtx geforce 2080 ti OverClocked) is busted. blocky lines all over the screen. i create a ticket and am being asked to ship back i express my concerns about loss of time after it being late a week already. we decide to ship a replacement GPU for me to swap myself, which wont be OVERCLOCKED a service i paid for.
I'm very new to PC coming from console. Thank god for you-tube. so now i wait a week for the replacement card (GPU). this comes i install problem solved.

but wait there's more! after reviewing the HYDRO X corsair water cooled CPU loop I paid to have origin install i see that the loop is in reverse. I went to corsair to design a custom loop to make sure. Corsairs is amazing and after entering your case and hardware gives you a visual sketch of the design, which sadly confirms the ORIGIN PC techs installed it wrong looping it in reverse.
i create yet another ticket with photo ORIGIN confirms its wrong and wants me to send it back. 2 weeks after i first received my 5K build. I dont have the crate, or box anymore, and really didnt want wait weeks to ship, fix, and ship. I decide to tell them calmly that i dont want to wait, and ask for compensation for HYDRO X system installed incorrectly, which i will have to figure out and order more colored water and accessories to drain and fill. things i paid ORIGIN PC tech to install. Im told that i will not be compensated for the loop being incorrect, but the 50 dollar charge for the OverClock will be refunded.

sales and service are incredible 5 star.
tech 2.5 stars.
i know nothing about computers and within 30 minutes referencing corsair and the pump manual saw this was incorrect. kinda sad this huge name in custom PC building could let this ship out their facility in this condition.

Replacing a Worn Part Led to a Better PC

"My OriginPC is a liquid-cooled motherboard, and I've had the rig for a few years. Kinda unsurprisingly, one of the two pumps in the cooling system failed. (I say "unsurprisingly" because all the commercial liquid cooling systems come with high failure rate pumps). And, that isn't on Origin. They don't make the cooling system.

The first thing I noticed was that the radiator (or something near the radiator) was sounding 'unhealthy' during boot. The people at Origin were quick to diagnose the cooling system by having me run a benchmark app (heavy cpu load) and taking note of my CPU package temperature. Sure enough, the liquid coolant system was failing. (All the core temps got hot, fast).

I got a replacement liquid coolant system sent to me via 2-day shipping. Origin also sent me my case manual, my motherboard manual, and a 3rd PDF which described how to properly remove the old / broken system. All of these resources turned out to be extremely helpful.

I'm very familiar with working on PC's, and replacing parts - but I've never had liquid cooling before - so, in this case, I really relied on their instructions.

The actual swap took me about 20 minutes to complete.
On boot, I was able to verify that my new cooling was functional (the pump shows up as a sensor on the motherboard info, and I was able to see that it was operational), and the CPU Benchmark test ran ^cool^.

Perfect replacement. And I followed all the instructions that they sent over. Easy and smooth.

They did offer to take me though the replacement process 'step-by-step' over the phone, but I was confident with the PDFs and watching someone do it on a YouTube link.

So, that was 100% successful. Cooling system replaced. Confirmed working.

One more little matter:
While I was making the swap, I noticed that one of my 3 case fans was rattling. (This is also normal for fans. They wear out, become imbalanced, and start to rattle). Nothing was functionally wrong with the fan - it had the right RPMs, it was just noisy. The guys at Origin didn't even try to sell me anything - they pointed me to a high end fan (magnetic levitation!), and suggested it as a replacement. I bought it immediately (at this point, I trust whatever they tell me), and I just installed the fans yesterday. Lol, oh man.. I replaced all 3 (why not) and my machine is just whisper quiet. All 3 are 0-2000 RPM PWM. PWM means that they can run at variable speed .. and these fans run variable across the whole RPM range (which wasn't true of my old fans). So, awesome upgrade.

My machine now has working liquid cooling, and 3 new fans. It runs cool, even when overclocked, and it has a hum that I can only describe as a sci-fi background noise.

My rig is literally in *better* condition now than the day it arrived in the wooden crate.
But, this is why I choose Origin PC in the first place. (Yes... they are masters at beautiful wire runs), but what I really wanted was world-class support.

And that's what I got.

Great computer. Great service

"I've had my EVO17-S laptop now for over a year and I'm very happy with the system itself. I've had a couple minor configuration issues since then, and each time when I've reached out to support they have gotten back to me very quickly and worked with me to resolve the problems. Great computer and great service."

Don't Waste Time or Money

"Placed an order for my $8000 plus dollar system from Origin PC almost 8 weeks ago. It has been almost 2 weeks since my ship date. This company is great at giving excuses and poor on follow through and customer service. I called last Monday and company said system would be shipping out this past Thursday or Friday. Well today is the following Monday and no shipment. I called spoke to them again and was told they should get an email from the engineering department that was sent last Thursday as to the progress of the system. Guess that department doesn’t answer their internal emails.

Started asking questions about why the long delays. Was told everything from Pandemic to the fact their parts were shipped from China - Asia and it was taking longer because they ship by sea and they didn’t want to ship by air because it cut in to their profit. Now I am not a rocket scientist, but if you have orders all backed up, maybe its time to give up a little of that profit to keep your customer base happy. Protecting your pocketbook and delaying your orders is going to cost you more business than you would lose by shipping by air.

My best advice is STAY AWAY. Don’t bite on their BS sales pitch of over promise, under deliver or ship dates. Since Origin PC was purchased they have gone downhill and can’t keep their customers happy or get their orders built. Ordered another system from Main Gear and it was delivered before scheduled date. I placed the order with Main Gear after the one with Origin.

Even more problems

"I originally bought an EVO15-S back in August 2018. It came with a dead hard drive, although that was fairly easy to get replaced. About a month after getting the laptop, keys on the keyboard started to fail as well. It turned out to be a problem with the motherboard. Originally, Origin wanted me to send my laptop in to be replaced, but I was able to work out a sort of advance RMA, which let me keep the old laptop until the new one arrived and I could transfer my stuff. This was good since I didn't have another laptop, and it was just as the school year was starting.

I thought everything was fine, until recently. My new EVO15-S ran into the same keyboard issue: some keys have started to fail. Since I'm outside of the warranty period, the advance RMA return method isn't possible and I need to send the computer in for repair, which will take around 2 weeks. Luckily, I was able to get my hands on a somewhat powerful Asus to use in the meantime. One annoying part about this is that I need to pay $60-$80 for the shipping to send the device in. That's a lot of money, even when considering the cost of this laptop, which is another concern.

I paid around $1900 for the version with 16GB RAM and the 8th generation i7-8750H. For almost $2000, I wasn't expecting even one unit to fail, much less two. I'm a little disappointed. I thought the first one must have been a lemon, coming with a dead hard drive and failing a little later on. But this second laptop ran into the same issue. I do put the laptop in my backpack, when I'm going to class, and my only theory is that the laptop must flex slightly when I'm carrying it, causing micro-fractures on the motherboard. However, that isn't really a good excuse for the quality, since I've carried other (heavier, lighter, thicker, thinner) 15.6" laptops in the same backpack without any problems. The $80 repair cost just make this all the more frustrating.

I have bad luck with computers in general, but I'm concerned about Origin's quality control, and honesty when it comes to describing the quality control process, when I've had two of the same model laptop fail exactly the same way.

___

Update:

Yeah, no, I'm done with Origin. I won't be buying from or recommending this company to anyone.

I got the unit back, and the LCD and keyboard were replaced, as indicated. However, the bezel isn't properly adhered to the new display, so there are gaps and moving parts. I've also spent over an hour attempting to open the laptop so I can reinstall my SSD and HDD, without success. The casing is so extremely tight to the keyboard assembly that it's impossible to separate, even with a significant amount of force.

This is just ridiculous. I'm glad Origin at least allows home modifications without voiding the warranty, but that doesn't come near to making up for everything else. The same failure twice on two different units, charging me $40 to send it in and $40 for them to ship it back to me (the label lists the package weight as 20lbs when it is actually under 6lbs), long repair times, and problematic results....

I expected more for the money I spent.

_______

Another update. Origin sent me an EVO16-S as a replacement on May 9, 2019. While it's certainly a nicer laptop, and I appreciate the gesture, I ran into the same keyboard failure issues as with the EVO15-S. After about 7 months (around October 2019), the keyboard started failing. So I sent it in and they fixed it. In May 2020, the keyboard started to fail *again*. So I sent it in. After about a month I got it back, supposedly fixed. One week later, and it started to fail again, with exactly the same keys ceasing to function. They're going to send me a new keyboard to see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn't, I have to send it in again. And, since it's been over a year since I got the replacement, my warranty has expired. So, inevitably, after a few months when the keyboard fails again, I'll be out of luck, just sitting here with a waste of $2100.

I don't know if the design flaw is on Clevo's end, or if it's because of something Origin modified, but whatever the cause, it's ridiculous. I can't say anything about Origin's desktops, but I can certainly say to stay away from their laptops.
