"Boatfix has Very fast order handling and shipping. I live in RI and the order arrives 2 to 3 days after I place it. The prices are very good and they are very knowledgeable. I have a 1974 Chrysler Marine engine and they helped me modernize the electronics and they stock all parts I need for it. They used to have a unique web site where the product descriptions were on PDF files of their paper catalog and the prices were on a separate HTML page. I got good at navigating this system and I actually miss it now. Anyway I've ordered from them many times for many years (1974 boat - can you imagine?) and was always satisfied."

"This company is the worst .com business I have ever dealt with. I ordered 2 gallons of Teak oil and paid an extra $60 for 2-3 day shipping and then nothing Yea I got an order confirmation but 3 phone calls over the course of a month and no response I gave them my email and phone number each time and they never tried to contact me, I called my Visa Card and my account was credited right away, Perhaps this company has a known history"

"I needed a new cable for my Lowrance fish finder, I contacted Lowrance and they told me it was not in stock and wouldn't be in stock for at least a month. I ordered through Boatfix and got a personal email from the owner that it wasn't in stock and that if I needed it I should order from someone else. I left the order with Boatfix and withing a week, the cable was at my front door.

Their service is outstanding, communication is the best and prices are the lowest. They don't rip you off for shipping.

"Would not recommend this company to anyone. I made a order with them and a few days later, I received less than half of my order. I waited a few days and nothing else arrived. I contacted them and they informed me that the item I had ordered was backordered. I received no email from them at all, and they charged the full amount. It was like they were waiting to see if I would email and complain. I asked for a refund, and they agreed that it would be processed. One month later, I had yet to receive my refund. I contacted them several times during this and everytime I was assured that I would get teh refund, but their accounting department was extremely busy. I finally had to file a dispute with my credit card company in order to get my money back.

There is no phone number anywhere on the invoice or on their website. You can only contact them through email.

"In July 2009 I placed two orders with this company totaling several thousand dollars. I received immediate automated responses. Prior to ordering I made a query regarding shipping via their ticketing system and received a prompt reply. I replied to their email and received a prompt reply to that one.

Then nothing. No shipment confirmation. No attempt to contact me with issues. I raised another ticket. I was told they needed a phone registered to the shipping address which was unusual but I provided them an alternate stressing the urgent need to proceed as I am living aboard my boat cruising between destinations.

Still no responses. No delivery. No chasing me. They had my emails. They had the ticketing system to add comments to. Nothing to indicate they had tried to do anything.

I raised another ticket telling them to ship or cancel/credit within 24 hours. No immediate response so I put my two orders into dispute with the credit card company.

A few days later I got a response saying that they had been trying for days to contact the number I gave them and received no answer and that they had my shipment ready to go. Given the delay and size of order - anyone who ran a half decent business would have contacted me straight away. In amongst all this I made sevaral calls to their help desk. Never any answer. Never. In response to their last response I gave them yet another number. A couple of days later this number has not been called.

I have instructed the company to fully credit my two orders. I am no longer interested in wasting precious time on them.

As far as I know there is only Mike working for this company. I have looked on line and seen a number of similar complaints. I also notice some good comments about BoatFix but they seem to come in bursts - usually after a complaint has been published. Furthermore - why negative reviewers tend to be one offs (because we're let down and angry) positive reviewers do this habitually and therefore will have reviewed multiple sites. All the BoatFix positive reviews have only reviewed BoatFix. Hmmmm. You make your own mind up who's writing those positive reviews.

This company may be the cheapest but they are certainly the worst.

If you don't mind running the risk of having a similar experience to myself and all the others ripped of by this either bogus or zero service company then go ahead, try them."

"This is the 3rd order that I have placed with Boatfix. The items, 6 Polyform fenders, were ordered on Sunday evening, 7/19, and were delivered Wednesday, 7/22. That kind of prompt service is hard to beat.

I will definitely continue to be a customer."
