"We bought a Jabsco marine toilet for our houseboat here in the Keys. Aside from saving over 40% I had the pleasure of dealing with Mike M. during the transaction. He was extremely professional, concise, helpful, and I would (will) deal with him again in a heartbeat.

We initially had no ship date so he researched, told me the status AND kept me updated without me having to ask.

The website could use some tweaking with regard to getting to the proper customer service department but that is almost a moot point. My last Internet buying experience was "less than desirable" (i.e. a nightmare) so to purchase something from Boatfix was a pleasant no-brainer. We received exactly what we ordered, as well. Kudos to Boatfix.

"Boatfix.com = Poor customer service. mishandled special order - It never got ordered even though they charged my CC that day for it. I had to call back serveral times to get the order completed. Once finally done they lied to me and told me they would not charge me shipping. Yet now they refuse to reimburse my CC for the shipping charges they had charge me on day 1!

I would advise other potential customers to consider the risk/reward of using Boatfix. With so many other retailers competing for our consumer business, I am amazed at the poor customer service some companies provide and think it is acceptable.

"These guys did ok. They had the product I needed that was not available in local marine stores. Shipping was prompt. I did not have occasion to contact them for any reason since everything arrived, on time, as it should. overall a good experience. I would shop there again"

"Buyer Beware!
I ordered a product and paid over $1300. Boatfix immediately debited my credit card with a promise of a one to two week delivery. It has been over two weeks. I have received no confirmation and I have received no response to multiple attempts for an update on shipping. This is either fraud or horrible customer service. I will be notifying my credit card company Monday morning in an attempt to get a refund. Since the company refused to respond, I have no other choice.
Update: July 26/10:
I ordered the product on July 10, Boatfix debited my credit card same day. Today (July 26th), the manufacturer informed me that Boatfix didn't put the order through to them until July 22nd when they were informed of a back order to December 2010. Despite the manufacturer stating that the product would not be shipped until December, Boatfix maintains that the product has been shipped. However, I have a written confirmation from the manufacturer that my order was concelled this morning by Boatfix's 'wholesaler'. Boatfix disputes the cancellation and says that if I contact my credit card company to dispute the charge, they will not refund my money until the dispute process 'takes its course'. So, they've got my money, the order has been cancelled, but they won't refund it. If you purchase from this company, you should be prepared for this headache.

" I ordered a part from boatfix.com and they immediately charged my account. I only received an email of the order confirmation. I called a week after no shipping info. I had to leave a voice mail. They Called back the next day and said the part was superseded buy another part number over $95 more. This is after they already charged me. I never received an email or call to tell me this. When they returned my call, I told them to go ahead with the new part. The part has still not shipped. I only get info if I call. I called again today 7/20/10 and they said they will call me back. If you need a part to get your boat up and running like me, look elsewhere.

Boatfix again returned my call today 7/20/10. customer service feels my review is dishonest because they say they contacted me the next day via email. However I can find no email in spam/Trash folders from boatfix. I only have responses to my email/phone inquiries.

To be fair here is Boatfix response to this review.

We have gone ahead and processed the additional charge today, in the amount of $96.12 to the same card on file for this order, now that the item is available at Mercury to special order. As agreed upon, the superseded item offered is a direct replacement according to the information supplied to us by Mercury, and as a special order it will be non-returnable once shipped from Mercury's warehouse. The original backorder for the item as a stocked part will go to our inventory, rather than ship to you. Your special order will be entered first thing tomorrow with Mercury, and typically should arrive about 3 business days after, which would be Monday of this upcoming week, assuming Mercury processes the order without any delay as normal.

We would appreciate if you would completely retract your reseller ratings review as their are dishonest statements, and inaccuracies. We would like to stress how important these reviews are to our company, and how detrimental they can be for future business. We have contacted you a day after your order, and again to inform you of the additional delay due to availability on the newly superseded part, providing an estimated ship date of 7/21 which turned out to be quite accurate.

"I have placed about 6-7 orders with Boatfix and had difficulties on at least 3 of them. I placed an order on 10-30-2009. Since the weather up here in the northeast at the time of the year gets chilly, I wanted to get my outdrive back on the boat. I just checked the calendar and the order date was early Friday afternoon. There should have been no reason not to have the parts for the following weekend. My credit card was charged the same day and I thought the items would be on there way. So much for positive thinking. I finally contacted them Friday; a week after placing the order. I was told that they could not fulfill the order because a couple of the items were unavailable to them from their distrutors. I agree to delete those items and get them from another vendor. My purchase price now dropped and was told they would immediately credit my card for the differnce. You guessed it. It took several more help desk requests to get the credit.
Based on reviews their customer service is poor. 80% of the people are happy. That's a very low number in my book. Some people think that Boatfix is business with large warehouses. All the do is put a custom cover on a catalog, which they charge you for, and drop ship from a distributor. Based on order numbers, this order was number 200 different from a previous order placed 10 days before. To me that shows they average 20 orders a day during that period. With such a low volume, I find it hard to believe that so many orders, returns, creditd, etc.. get screwed up.
I have now been using other vendors and can find the same items at around the same price.

"I saw mixed reviews but a decent price on the items that I wanted to purchase (rod holders). I went ahead and pulled the trigger. After a week, I had not received the merchandise that I ordered. Using their "Help Desk" I submitted a ticket and received a response the next day stating that the item was back ordered and would not ship for another 3 weeks. Disappointed, I waited and did receive my items in the time frame that was promised.

Two Stars for the following reasons:
1. No indication on the web site that the item was back ordered.
2. No I had to contact the seller to find out that the item was back ordered (vs. them sending me an e-mail)
3. My credit card was charged at the time the order was placed, not when it was shipped.
