"To potential Star Micro Inc. customers,

My experience w/ Star Micro Inc. was unpleasant at best. I ordered a 250GB 7200rpm hard drive for a notebook computer and 2GB DDR SO-DIMM memory. To their credit, they did call to notify me that they were out of stock on the hard drive and sent me a 320GB drive - it was a desktop drive not a notebook drive as I had originally ordered. Further, the memory was DOA. I received an RMA, and returned the hard drive ($35) and memory ($30) in the same box. Star Micro Inc. gave me credit for the hard drive, but claims that the memory was not in the box and that I must have forgotten to enclose it. I have never forgotten to enclose items I was returning. In my 23 years with IT (US Army, NASA and my own business - Daniel's IT & Electronics Service), I have rarely encountered the level of support that I have received from Star Micro Inc.

I was looking for a deal given the age of my clients' computers. In retrospect, I should have shopped w/ a tried & true vendor such as NewEgg. Their customer service and support is much better.

Hi, my name is Robby, I'm calling in regards to order number 128914. The cpu I ordered was labeled @ 2GHz. I recieved it today and found out that it is actually 1.66GHz. I understand that mis-labeling happens, and called up technical support to report it and see if there was anything they could do for me. I never once raised my voice, called names, or demanded anything. I politely told the representetive the issue, and asked if there was anything he could do for me. He told me that the cpu is a T5450, and i recieved a T5450. He could see it was mislabeled, but told me it was up to me to make sure of the clock speeds. He also had me look up the T5750 (the processor clocked at 2GHz) which shows for $125. I understand that an exchange for that particular one isn't possible due to the huge price difference but the representative said that and was rude about it. I would have been perfectly happy with being credited back shipping, or a discount on next purchase. I would like to continue to do business with starmicro because of the selection, its tough to find those mobile processors elsewhere for comparable prices, but at the moment i just feel cheated. Is there anything you would be able to do for me?

Would there be anyone who would be able to help me? I'm sorry for the trouble, I'm just hoping I can get this resolved. I am so disappointed with what has happened. Starmicro would make shopping for mobile processors so easy for me, but at the moment I don't ever want to order anything from you guys again. Nothing personal, its just wound up being a really bad experience for me and I am not being compensated. Thanks again for your time! Any help would be very much appreciated!

"Motherboard was DOA. Didn't even power up. Request RMA but only got a tech tip to try to reset MB and fix it. Something I have already did and even more. They claimed to have tested it before shipping it out. Alot of green marks on the capacitors. I don't believe it. Still waiting on my RMA. I will write another review when I ship back their MB and they ship me a replacement or refund my money back. I odered a MB Combo with CPU/Fan and 1GB of ram. CPU/Fan & ram is the only thing that works on the MB but eveything is USED. Not Happy! and this is the 1st time I have tried them over my usual order site because it was going to save me a few bucks. Should have known.
Here is the update 11-10-09: StarMicro claimed to have tested the MB again and guess what? Nothings wrong with it, according to them. Instead of sending another MB. They issued a refund. I will never use this company again. They don't even deserve 1 check mark. They need to come up with a negative rating system. I hope you read the reviews before buying.

"Have ordered several times, each time a multiple of CPUs. Every order has been great. Prder status and tracking info provided quickly. CPUs have been packed well and received in great shape. Only suggestion living east of the Mississippi would be to use USPS 1st class or priority for shipments under a pound. Can't cost any more than UPS and a lot faster."

"I thought I'd bump up the rating for this company a little. I ordered 4 sticks of 256mg rdram/ecc for a Gateway computer that I'm working on. I ordered it over the weekend on Sunday the 12th and they shipped it on Monday the 13th. I live in Washington state and the ram showed up today, Wendesday the 15th. Slapped it in the computer and it worked fine. Best price, fast shipping, product works the first time and I was emailed with a tracking number when my product shipped. What else is there?"

"Shipped P4 521 CPU very quickly. Rec'd updates about status of order and tracking via email. Didn't come in Intel packaging, and seemed a little dirty to be new even though they said it was. Fixed my BSOD problem due to failure of L2 Cache Multi-Processor. Dell Diagnostics picked up on the failure though it did look like a diagnostics file .exe error. When I put in new CPU it past all CPU tests no problems. "
