They Allow Buyer Extortion

"I used to think they were a good site, but when a buyer tried to extort a "partial refund" from me and Reverb refused to help, I realized they are just like everybody else. Only in it for the money and refusing to accept any responsibility. Ebay now charges the same fee to see guitars and they reach a much wider audience too. Reverb is becoming a thing of the past. They sure lost me. By the way, they are owned by Chicago Music Exchange. I won't be buying any more gear there either. signed, -A Former Good Customer"

This company doesn't verify what they resell

"The guitar I received was half Fender half I dont know what other guitar. The only reason I know it's a fake was because the professional I took it too couldn't tune it and the Fender replacement items I purchased wouldn't fit. I'm not a guitar player so I don't know. Im just a mom trying to make my little girl's Christmas. But the customer support team was unhelpful, unprofessional and couldn't be bothered to hear my plea. Don't waste your money, as these guys resell fakes."

REVERB SCREWED ME WITH HIDDEN FEE

"I sold a guitar and was willing to pay the selling fee and bump fee. However, when I checked my account, they had also deducted another $13 for a 'processing fee' that I never saw anything about. When I contacted them, they told me that they could offer me a store credit (where I buy something from them!) instead of a refund because their system was not set up to refund on transactions that had been paid. The problem is, they have not paid me anything yet! I just shipped today and their policy states that I don't receive payment until the customer receives shipment. That fee caused me to take a loss on the guitar. Bad company - not trustworthy - DON'T USE THEIR SERVICE!!!"

Incredible integrity - Quality people - Great!

"They stand behind you through any purchase or sale. I've had a few transactions on reverb - each has gone great, except for with one seller who fraudulently represented they were selling a synthesizer (Virus Ti2) and accepted $1200 - claiming it was in mint condition. It arrived with 3 broken keys, but only 2 in the bag / box. Obviously if it had been broken in shipping there would have been damage on the packaging and the other key would be there. Reverb refunded $400 to have it repaired, and I did through a Metro Sound in Richmond. They fixed the keys and the midi connector for $160. However, after getting the synth back, I soon learned it had other issues with the mainboard - and it also wasn't a Virus TI2 but a TI. Fraud all the way. I contacted Reverb again - now 2 months after the initial purchase - and they refunded the remaining balance!!! and provided a return shipping label via UPS. The fraud one is on its way back and I just got a great deal on a mint condition Ti2! Thanks Reverb.com!!!"

Deceptive Advertising

"Deceptive Advertising.
I have been selling on eBay for 20yrs now. I tried using Reverb. Wow, what a mistake that was! They refuse to pay out on sales in the manor they advertise. The time and effort it took to chase down my money was ridiculous. And When I civilly expressed my frustration with them, they suspended my account and cut off most lines of communication. They only seem to respond after I filed a claim with the BBB in Chicago. A lot of the staff seem to have deep emotional problems. I don't know if it's because schizophrenia is more prevalent in AshkeNazi blood lines, or what? But I did have some strange dealings with the support staff. They literally told me "Your bank has your money" implying the bank keeping it from me? I mean come on, how irresponsible! My next step is to file a complaint at consumerfinance.gov, I encourage anybody else who has had a simular experience to do the same. Reverb.com does not seem to understand that payment processing is a highly regulated business. But they will.

Horrible Nightmare Experience!

"Sellers beware!! I have had a nightmare selling gear on Reverb. I sold a synth that was damaged during shipping. Things happen. I issued the buyer a refund and paid for return shipping. Reverb has debited my account everyday for the last 5 days for the refund amount. It's a weekend and no one is there and their so called "customer engagement specialists" could care less. She told me "just wait until the pending charges drop off"."

Be extremely careful!

"On two occasions I had to threaten law suite to get my money back from these people? What is that! I expected to be treated basically like eBay, paying the high fees for protection. Right? Reverb sides with the money so be very very careful buying anything from this sight. I have been ripped off several times and they put me through a nightmare, thank God for "Paypal", or I would have lost 10s of thousands to these complete misrepresenting cheats. I bought one guitar for 15k that was a complete fraud, the Reverb rep told me I was making it up and refused the return? I even got three expert opinions and they still refused so I opened a Paypal dispute. What does Reverb do, they threaten life long suspension if I did not drop the Paypal dispute at once??? Isn't that what Paypal is for folks? Why would they take 3% of your money if you were not permitted to open a claim??? Paypal sided with me and forced Reverb to take it back, thank God. "

NOT GOOD AT ALL

"I have a store on Reverb. I am top rated. I sold a guitar in perfect condition. It was shipped in less than 24 hours. Purchaser received the guitar and immediately wanted a refund. When I say immediately. UPS delivered it at 12:30 PM at 12:33 he asked for refund! The reason, because there were no strings on it! I am selling the guitar not rusty worn strings. I advised seller I would be more than happy to send him a pack of new strings. That I took them off because the were old and wanted to clean the bridge and pack the neck properly. They completely took the side of the buyer and now I have to refund the money. This is a total case of buyers remorse and they do not care as long as they get their piece. They didn't even take the time to read the messages I left for the buyer. I am taking my store down immediately. You get more honest people on craigslist! Do yourself a favor never buy from Reverb.com OR do business with one of their buyers Mark Fewell of Mark's Gear Emporium"

Bought a shoddy guitar

"I bought a guitar that was a fixer upper. Unfortunately for me, neither the pictures nor the description detailed the missing strings, screwdrived holes and action in need of adjustment this would take.
Reverb refused a refund but instead demanded I get a quote for repairs I had no intention of committing to.
Agree with other reviewers, you must ph through paypal and current reverb out as paypal has superior consumer protection!

Never close a Paypal dispute before you get your money refunded

"I bought a vintage Martin soprano on Reverb on march 20 2019. It got stuck in customs on the 03/28/2019. The sellers courier provided a CITES form that was incomplete. Because of the incomplete CITES form, Belgium CITES couldn’t deliver me one to import the ukulele. **** happens, so I told Bpost and customs to return the package to sender. The time I received all this info, it was already 05/01/19. Because I didn’t do anything to cause this inconvenient situation I opened a Paypal dispute. It is the sellers responsibility to deliver the package with all the extra paperwork. A few hours later Reverb contacted me and asked me to close the dispute to avoid complications. He said that I would receive the refund in a very timely manner. With Reverb it’s possible to pay trough Paypal so I assumed Paypal/Reverb is like Paypal/ebay. So I closed the dispute, even when I read the message ‘once a dispute is closed, you can’t reopen it’.
After I closed the dispute I received a message that I would be covered 100% trough Reveb protection and that I would receive a full refund when the package is returned to sender. I sent several mails trying to argue that this is not correct because the seller is responsible and the seller should open a case to get the package back. I have no ukulele, no money and couldn’t do anything solve the problem. The seller sent the ukulele, caused the problem and has my money. He has nothing to worry about, sold an item and received money.
And what does Reverb do? Nothing, alway repeating the same line that I will get a refund once the item is returned (what if It gets lost?). And because I closed the dispute they know I can’t do anything but wait, and wait, and wait, and hope someday, maybe, I’ll get my refund.
What they did was removing my chance to give the seller a rating, even that was stolen from me.

If you buy something on Reverb and you get in trouble, open a Paypal dispute and never close it until you are refunded. I’m done with Reverb. No service, can’t reason or argue with them. If you see something on Reverb, close the deal outside Reverb, straight trough Paypal. Paypal offers good buyer/seller protection. The extra 3,5% Reverb is charging is worth nothing, they are just out to make money.

"I was contacted by my bank and had to cancel my credit card after using Reverb - TWICE!!!! That's right, not once, but twice. Not a secure site/business. Nothing short of fraudulent."
