The worst

"Don’t ever buy anything from reverb.com. If you do and there’s a problem like there was with me, the seller did not ship the item nor deliver the item like he promised another word he ripped me off completely for $800, there’s no way to contact reverb. I repeat there is no possible way to contact reverb customer support. Their chat app is a joke. It’s merely their as window dressing then if you call customer service, they hang up on you. If you set up a time for them to call you they will call you will answer the phone they will hang up on you and then send you an email saying you didn’t answer so we are closing the case I repeat, don’t ever ever buy anything from free bourbon. They are not legitimate. They are ripping people off and there’s no way to contact them for customer support. I repeat there is no customer support. No customer support. No customer support. No customer Support . "

Fees out the Nose!!!!

"I recently sold several items on Reverb and was totally shocked and dismayed by the amount of fees and charges that are hidden and they deduct from the sale of your gear!!!!! I sold an item for over $600 and walked away with less than $500!!!! And all they reference is a 5% fee!!! Total rip-off plus takes 4-5 days to get your money! So disappointed!"

Reverb not trustworthy

"Despite receiving damaged item, supplying several pictures of clear damage, and messages from seller admitting it was damaged, Reverb ignored their own policies and did not honor a return. Buyer beware when dealing with large sellers that Reverb profits greatly from. "

Absolute nightmare

"Please do not use this website. A seller sold me a damaged guitar and a week after asking for a refund I’m still arguing with Reverb. They could care less. Will never buy from again. Worst customer service ever."

NO SUPPORT!

"When you order from reverb.com, if you have a problem there is no support from reverb. The only contact you can possibly have with reverb is a chat box with a "bot". At some point the bot will tell you that it cant help you with that problem or question...in other words, you're on your own. I'm having a problem with an item that I bought and can only work with the seller with whom I'm also getting very little help. Luckily I made the purchase through PayPal so I'll open a dispute with them. REVERB IS NO LONGER A GOOD PLACE TO BUY ANYTHING. Absolutely no help or backup of any kind from reverb.com!"

This is how Reverb places buyers at risk by hiding poor seller feedback

"This has happened to me more than once. Here's how it works: if you are dissatisfied with your purchase and decide to leave poor feedback for your seller, your seller can retaliate with poor feedback against you. This feedback cannot be removed unless you remove your feedback. So, if you leave your seller 3 stars, they can leave you 1 star (with no explanation). If you don't want that 1 star review on your account, you can only have it removed by removing your 3 star review. See?

This is how untold numbers of poor seller reviews are hidden from buyers in order to keep sales moving and to keep Reverb making money. That "5 Star" seller you're about to buy from might have dozens of 1 star reviews that have been removed.

Support? No. Reverb's customer support is worthless. In fact, the "Customer Experience Supervisor" is 5 years out of high school. Until last year, this person spent the prior 3 years working as a "Starbucks Barista" and as a "store associate" at "Binny's Beverage Depot," whatever that is. 90% of this person's resume is comprised of slinging coffee and "developing meaningful relationships using one on ones with other active members of Chicago’s social justice scene." Yes, you read that right. That's where the buck stops in the Reverb customer support department, and this person has certainly gloated about that fact to me.

Be very careful with your Reverb purchase. If something goes wrong, you're on your own.

They don’t care

"Sadly Reverb has gone thru changes.

I thought I purchased a 1954 Martin. The seller took me off site to purchase. Reverb card no.

Not one piece of that guitar is 1954, a Marin luthier stated in writing. Luckily I insisted on PayPal, seller had no idea I would get Martin inspection. Nope…1960 sides, 2010s top and clunky braces off cheap non Martin guitar. Junk fake tuners. Not even a Martin neck! Had brass screws..a Martin never had ever.

Reverb care? Nope. It’s in their website now for sale. Huge discount to get fast add add sale. Poor buyer will get screwed! Reverb makes $.

What has happened to Reverb??

"I've been utilizing Reverb for over 5 years. Mostly as a seller of high end instruments with purchases also. When the platform was first initiated under the helm of David Kalt it was a tremendous selling platform and alternative to eBay. If you had a question or possible issue with a transaction you could speak with an intelligent customer service representative in a timely fashion who could answer those questions or intervene a situation. Those days are long gone. I just had a situation with a buyer and after numerous, numerous attempts of calling the Customer Support line and listing to loop again and again, needless to say it is more than frustrating. Everything was handled poorly by email at a snails pace with an un-sympathetic "Resolution Specialist" and my 5 plus years, 88 transactions, 5 star Positive feedback didn't mean squat. So maybe it's back to eBay. When Aayansh who goes by Mike answers the phone and says, "How May I Help You?" "

Rip off

"Terrible customer service....the company floats your money in their banks accounts to make interest.
They will say your funds are available for transfer but it may take 1 to 4 business days. NO, it will still show processing and take over a week.

This is a fraudulent claim to keep a your money in their accounts. The more money the more they can fake company value and make interest off money that your already paying reverb fees on.

They need to be investigated.

Stick with the pros at eBay

"This company was started because the founder didn't like eBay. Well, eBay blows Reverb away if you have any sort of problem as a buyer. Reverb support basically puts you out on your own to deal with scammers on their marketplace. They do not answer the phone, it's only a recording to go to their live chat, which is hardly staffed and is mainly a bot. If you do get someone on chat they push you to email, and they do not respond to emails for days.

Take my advice and realize that if you use Reverb, you are essentially gambling. If you have a good seller, you are good, but if you encounter one of the many scammers on this site you are on your own. I suggest sticking with the pros at eBay who have 1000x better support.

"Buyers beware! Unlike eBay, who offer Buyers a very fair level of protection, Reverb are ridiculously heavily bent towards protecting the Sellers. I had my account deleted after a particularly negative experience. "

Buyer Protection did NOT protect me...

"I purchased a guitar from an individual via reverb.com. I paid the seller directly by PayPal, as instructed in the reverb.com listing. The seller provided me a tracking number but the package associated with that number was not addressed to me. I learned from UPS that the package contained medical supplies delivered to a cancer center in my town, and was in no way associated with me, my address, nor the seller - obviously a hijacked tracking number. I filed a dispute with PayPal and it was denied on the grounds that the seller provided me with a tracking number, even though the number was not legitimate. I filed a claim with UPS for a lost package, but the package associated with the tracking number I was provided by the reverb seller, was in fact delivered as addressed. I requested a refund from the seller via reverb.com but the seller's reverb account has been closed by reverb for "suspicious activity". I requested a refund from reverb.com on the basis that my package was not shipped by the seller, but reverb referred me back to PayPal. I also tried to call to reverb's attention, another suspicious seller, offering the same guitar on another account. Reverb refused to investigate. Bottom line, reverb's buyer protection guarantee has more holes in it than a fish net. Don't rely on it if your are scammed by a sale on their site."

You can find it cheaper elsewhere

"Years ago, I was looking for parts for a vintage instrument, and they were often available from Reverb vendors. The prices were steep, but these items were becoming more rare/desirable with time.

Recently, I was given a gift certificate for Reverb and, given the gifty amount, I was going to use it for an inexpensive guitar pedal. The short version--Reverb was full of used items that I could have gotten elsewhere new for less money and with shipping included.

When you search Reverb for an item, the price is listed, but you have to click on the item to learn that shipping can run an additional ten to hundreds of dollars.

My first experience was excellent. The pedal was shipped quickly, and when I was dissatisfied, the vendor refunded my purchase the same day I put it in the mail (at my expense).

I went back on the site and made another purchase 3 days ago, and I have yet to hear from the vendor.

Good to find your white whale, but if something is readily available, go to another site.

Horrible Buyer Protection

"Reverb's policies don't stand up for the buyer when it really counts. I purchased an item, it was accepted, gave the credit card, the money changed hands fine, and the seller told me that it'd be shipping out shortly. The seller then reneged, and refunded me all in one swoop. I complained to Reverb, but there was no recourse, as the seller had already refunded me. Why Reverb allows a seller to do this (renege on agreement) is beyond me. The seller probably made a side deal and got more money. Another kicker is that I'm not allowed to leave a review for the seller (Bob's Gear Outlet in NH), on the Reverb site, as it was never shipped. I gave 2 stars, because I have bought one guitar on this site, and it went smoothly"
