"Wow - I wish I would have read this page before shopping with them. I ordered a motherboard; a couple weeks later, they said it was out of stock, and had to be ordered from China - would take 5 - 8 business days to receive, then they would ship it to me. Today's date is 4-22-2010, and several complaints later; no motherboard. I even tried to call the number that showed up on my Credit Card Bill - say's that they are moving and won't be open till early July. Dishonest, and crooked they are. Not only should you complain to BBB, they should be reported to Federal Trade Commission - https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ "

"This company has poor customer service. I do not recommend them to anyone. I placed an order for a hard to get motherboard on 2-16-10. I received it about two weeks later. I finally was able to install it and test it and it was DOA. I opened a ticket online on 3-13-10 with the following comments: "I ordered a brand new MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939. I have been working to get the thing to POST with no success. Installed in the case and out of the case. With memory and without memory, reset CMOS and the board never sends POST messages at all and I am out of ideas. My invoice number is 76326.". I checked on it and there was no response at all for 5 days. On 3-18-10 I wrote on my own ticket "Is anyone going to contact me regarding this? It has been FIVE DAYS and no response.". They finally wrote back and the only thing they said is, and I quote: "We offer a 30 Day warranty of replacement or store credit, you have receieved your item in Feb and your warranty has expired. Best regards,RMA DEPT". They have no phone support and the "online support ticket" system is evidently monitored only every now and then. I was hoping for some technical support of some sort. I was willing to send it back and if they could prove it good in a case of their own I would buy the case and pay for shipping back. However, based on their response, they are not interested in anything but getting my money and not answering the phone and checking their "online support ticket" when they get around to it. I am very disappointed.

"This is a terrible company to deal with in regards to repairs. I requested a RMA on 2/10/2010 and no one has contacted me regarding returning the defective monitor for repair. This monitor did not work from the time we took it out of the box. There is no reason why it's taking so long to get a response on my RMA. I would not recommend buying from this company ever again. Very dissatified with there service or lack of service. "

"I recently attempted to purchase a retail version of an EVGA GTX 275 graphics card from pcplanetsystems.com. I was at first very pleased to find this product as it has become increasingly rare. The price for the card was a little bit high, but that was to be expected all things considered. I didn't think twice and ordered the product.
A couple of days later I got an email from someone at the company. They said that the card was discontinued and therefore would be an OEM model that they had special ordered for me from their own warehouse in China. Judging by other reviews I've read I see that this is a common line used by the company. I was shocked because no where on the website was there mention of an OEM product. The picture was even of a retail package etc.
I emailed them to cancel the order and I got an email back which said quite simply "no." I then proceeded to take a screen shot of the graphics card webpage and dispute the charge with my credit card company. I emailed pcplanetsystems.com again notifying them that I was lodging a dispute. They emailed me back saying that they would make an exception for me and refund my money less a 25% restocking fee (which comes out to about $75.00 of the original $300.00 charge).
Obviously I refused this rediculous offer as I had already spoken to my credit card company and have evidence in hand of fraudulent advertising. Today I went back to the website and what do you know... "All our products are Shipped in OEM PACKAGING (bare product) MEANT TO BE USED AS REPLACEMENT ONLY" has been added to the bottom of the page of the EVGA GTX 275 lol. So I took a screenshot of the "tampered" evidence and am going to include that with the original when I submit the paperwork to the credit card company.
All in all this company clearly has no idea what they are doing. They claim to be providing a service by tracking down rare electronics, but the reality of the situation is that they are looking to make a buck anyway they can even if that means deceiving their customers. Furthermore they don't even have the common sense to get themselves out of trouble. I offered to drop my complaint if they simply canceled my order, but their greed and ignorance is only getting them in more trouble.
I also found it humorous that they claim to be "special ordering" the item from their own warehouse. If you already have the item in a warehouse you don't have to order it at all... You just go into the warehouse, put the item in the box, and ship it to the customer.
Anyway it's been a learning lesson for me. My credit card company informed me that with all the evidence I have there won't be any problem getting my money back. I might even get a little extra if they really play their cards wrong. You'd think a company with a "legal department" would know how to avoid breaking the law. Furthermore you'd expect them to know not to tamper with evidence (tampering implies guilt). Stay away from pcplanetsystems.com. That component you're looking for isn't worth the hassle, trust me.
As a side note, in case you are reading any of the positive ratings pcplanetsystems.com has received, take note of the fact that many of them are just one long sentence with a series of commas where there should be periods... coincidence, or is this yet another example of this company's shadiness?

****UPDATE*****

So I did finally receive the product I ordered, sort of. I ordered a "superclocked retail version" (at least that was how it was advertised) of a card and received the "vanilla version OEM". I decided to drop the dispute (at least temporarily) facilitated by my credit card company despite the chronic false advertising by pcplanet systems. I only did this because I explained the situation to EVGA and was told I could step the VGA card up to the gtx 470 through them. I'm still not entirely sure what EVGA will think when they receive this pc planet systems card. It might be a fake for all I know.

Moral of the story was I let PC planet Systems off the hook because I found another way out of this mess. Thank god for reputable manufactures that are willing to clean up after shady vendors.

PC planet's reply to my review is really the epitome of what doing business with them is like. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE and generally innapropriate... These guys say they work with big companies, yet they specialize in out dated products. That my friends is a conundrum. The fact is large computer builders aren't looking for last year's hard to find parts and therefore have no reason to deal with piddly little pc planet systems. I told the EVGA rep how pcplanet systems claims to deal with "many big companies." After he told me they weren't on EVGA's "approved reseller list" he admitted he'd never even heard of them and we both had a good laugh...

Long story short, I've learned my lesson; Don't deal with crappy internet companies. If you do, document everything and at the first sign of trouble drop a dime to the credit card company. They "BANNED" my account?! Did they even read my review? Do me a favor and nuke my account, and your company too while your at it lol...

"Terrible, terrible, Terrible again! I ordered a motherboard from these imbeciles. It was advertised like any new retail product would be, no special NEW ITEM wording, just no USED or OEM wording. Well they say, after some irritating back and forth, that it is OEM, which it in fact is not. It's used. It cost $350, and I was mad about that before I started communicating with them. Now I am furious. They are giving me a run around about "the item is discontinued and so cannot be refunded", even though they didn't advertise it as OEM, and like I said, it's actually USED. There is obvious wear on the item, minor damage, but damage all the same. Plus I wouldn't mind so much getting an item with no accessories, which is typical for OEM, but instead I got whatever the previous owner decided, or was able, to find and throw back inside the box. All of the peripherals are distinctly used, damaged, and worn. Now, I don't like general statements, but when I say all, I mean all! Clearly not OEM; being in a retail package is a dead give-away. The first and last time I will buy from them. I read about other people having similar experiences with this site, unfortunately, after I made my purchase. They're trying to tell me that this is how these items (OEM items) are packaged, and that I must not have any idea of this fact, and that they sell to large companies all the time who understand this. Scare tactics. Saying "foolish you don't know this, you must be nobody and there's no recourse for you" without using those words. I can't stress this enough, you could be in for a really bad experience with these people. If it sways you at all, I am now looking for attorneys to advise me on how to pursue this legally. They really are trying not to take this USED item back.
After posting here, they emailed me with this;

Hello Sir,

The complaints you listed below are untrue and false. We have all emails that were sent to you and we never said Saying "foolish you don't know this, you must be nobody and there's no recourse for you" without using those words. Do not lie because this is only going to be uswed against you. These statements are untrue that you are accusing us of and we have the list of emails to prove so.

FOLLOW THE RMA LINK AS STATED AND GIVE FULL DETAIL OF THE PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING. WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO GO AROUND ALL DAY AS WE HAVE MANY CUSTOMERS WITH ALOT MORE DIGNOTY TO DEAL WITH. READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND IF YOU FEEL THEY ARE UNFAIR WE WILL TRANSFER THESE EMAILS TO OUR COLLECTION DEPARTMENT AND THEY CAN SPEAK WITH YOU ON YOUR ACCOUNT.

THANK YOU

How dare they? HOW DARE THEY? To suggest, nay to declare I have no dignOty!? I am in fact a highly dignOfied individual. And they think their is anyone, not with a lot, but with alot more dignOty than I. I hope this is not uswed against me! Funny to read, poor grammar and spelling, but that's not the point. Here are some specific comments from them which led to my review.
"Maybe you are not informed or have knowledge of these components.
Any company that sells OEM items will come in this type of packaging not original as they are DISCONTINUED. We deal with many major companies local and worldwide without any problems at all. They understand the Term discontinued.

This item is in OEM packaging as clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions that you agreed upon. The decision for you to order was yours, the price is as listed as it is once again not available and has been discontinued for several years.

Orders over $100.00 cannot be refunded as they are discontinued and you can clearly read this on website as it is outlined."

So obviously my remarks are not unsupported. Untrue and false, as though there is such a thing as untrue and factual! Also, why would I need to talk to their collections department? I already paid, do they think I owe them? I'd love to know the education level of these folks. I have bowel movements better spoken than these clowns. They keep all the emails, they just can't read them. I get a kick out of how similar this is to other reviews I've read. I almost wouldn't believe the childishness other people report, but now I have proof. I really have to laugh because I just read a more recent review of this company, and I love the point made, why would you have to special order an item from your own warehouse? Let me reiterate, the order I placed was not advertised as OEM or discontinued, yet just as the other reviewer. The site NOW states that the item is OEM and ships barebones for replacement only. I kid you not, I printed the page from their site immediately after e-mailing them about my issue, and it said NOTHING to that effect. These people are crooks, cheats, buffoons, and snakes. I would deny no one the right to make their own decision, but I would live happily knowing I saved anyone the misery of doing business with this company. I may be wrong, and often enough I am, but I doubt anyone has a positive experience to report of this company. I am a veteran of active duty in the Air Force, I wonder if these people are even citizens of the United States.

"Do NOT order from this company. They charged my credit card immediately for a product that was not in stock and being ordered from a "warehouse" in China. 14 business days later (and their web site states 5-8 business days for items shipped from China) I have no product, PC Planet Systems hasn't received the item either. They can't even provide any detailed information about the order and its status: they simply state "This is a discontinued item and we had to order from our warehouse in China. The item is in transit." I've even offered to "meet them in the middle" by having them refund my credit card, then re-charging when ever they ship the motherboard to me. I've resorted to disputing the transaction with my credit card company. Here is their response taken directly from their email: Sir the product you had ordered has been discontinued worldwide and we found one unit for you that IS IN TRANSIT, if our accounting dept receives a chargeback from your bank we will forward your account to a collection agency since you AGREED OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS DURING THE CHECKOUT PROCESS, instead of complaining you should be happy we were able to locate that product for you. Once again your order is in transit (on its way already).
Imagine, they want to turn this over to a collection agency for funds received yet have provided NO product. It looks like others have been taken by this company also. Please also lodge your complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Stay clear of this company.

"This company is horrible!!! I ordered an ASRock 939DUAL-VSTA and after receiving an order confirmation I heard nothing. Fortunately they didn't take my money. After 8 business days I tried calling and emailing and nothing. Interestingly after visiting this website I got an email telling my order has been cancelled. Worst part is that they made it seem like this was my fault. I'm sooooo disappointed. STAY AWAY FROM PC PLANETSYSTEMS. YOU'RE ROLLING THE DICE WITH COMPANY!!!!!"

"The motherboard (MBD) I ordered arrived with two missing SATA connections, missing Firewire support, missing SPDIF support, one of the USB connections on the MBD doesn't work, and several bent pins. The picture in their ad showed all of the missing parts.
In mid October I reported these concerns and they assigned tracking ID: G5R577JUY to my case. By late October they agreed to replace the board within "5 to 8 days."
On 11/10 after communicating with them, they said, "... the moment it arrive it will be immdediately shipped out to you ..."
My last communications with them in December and recently on 1/15 haven't received any responses.

"I also purchased a mother board from PC Planet Systems it took almost 3 weeks to arrive, it was in a box to small and the mother board had a bow in it. I could not get the board to work argued with these guys for 2 weeks finally sent it back and was told I would not get a refund only store credit. That was 10 days ago and still do not have store credit, after reading the reviews I called my bank and put in the paper work to get a refund, they guys are crooks.

"I purchased a motherboard from this company. after a slow delivery they sent me a motherboard with bent heat pipes and the plastic clips the hold the heatsinks on are missing and heatsink was separate from board. I returned Product almost three weeks ago. The last ticket email stated they where waiting for a replacement board. i contacted them and asked for a refund since the cant produce the part in a timely manner. they refused to refund. Now i am disputing charges with my bank. They dont seem to like that very much now im getting emails telling my they will take me to collections of they receive a chargeback. i never recieved a working product or a product replacement and now they are stating that they are letting there lawyers deal with it. NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. they will just take your money and run."

"I had pretty bad service from PC Planet Systems. They were slow responding to e-mail. I was trying to get something shipped with a short time window. When I asked if they could ship to another location, they told me they would need to get a quote... then shipped to the original site.

Nobody at the original site has gotten the order, and now PC Planet Systems won't answer e-mail inquiries asking for simple information like a tracking number.

I should have checked this site first, but like some others I was looking for a discontinued motherboard which was supposed to be available.

Not recommended. Amazing they are still in business!

UPDATE:

While they are not so great responding to e-mails from customers, they do monitor ResellerRatings pretty closely. I got a mail shortly after posting here:

----------------
Your order has been shipped out several months ago, also after checking the review posted in reseller ratings made us think your request to have that product shipped to Netherlands after making us change the delivery address several times was not worth it for us, we tried to help you out and we got a negative comment instead, please do not do business with us anymore and we are cancelling your account as well.
----------------

I wasn't sure of the status of the actual order. As I said, I had received an e-mail saying that they would check prices, and then an e-mail saying it had shipped. Now that PC Planet Systems was answering e-mails again, I wanted to be 100% sure of the status. In reply I got:

----------------
First of all we did shipped your product as you requested to Netherlands on 07/03/09 through usps international parcel since you did not request nor wanted to pay us the extra shipping cost related to your order, that was the only way we can ship a product international even we do not ship international we did it as an exception since you sent us several emails requesting that product being shipped out to different locations every time, we had banned your account already and there is no need to keep arguing with a customer who does not understand or appreciates what we had done, therefore if you have any other question we will forward it to our legal dept.
----------------

The package never arrived here, although of course it is quite possible that it was held up in customs either in China or in the Netherlands. Sadly the motherboard was shipped via an untraceable manner without my authorization, and has since disappeared.

For the record, I never argued about anything, although perhaps PC Planet Systems has enough angry customers that they assume any reply from a customer is argumentative. Most of the time, I simply wanted to know what the status was!

It's a pretty sad situation overall. I lost some money - although not much because this is not exactly a high-end motherboard we are talking about here. I suspect PC Planet Systems also lost money, given the time they spent trying to sort things out and tracking this review. It's a pity, since it could all have been avoided with some better communication.

The thinly veiled legal threats in the last communication only strengthen my advise: do not do business with this company.

"I placed my order on the 3rd, got the confirmation email and approved order email. 5-8 business days for shipping, no problem. I sent them an e-mail asking for an update on my order since I had not heard anything at all since the order date. No reply. I tried calling and was told everything was done via email or live chat support. So I went to their website again and tried that live chat support. No one was available. I emailed again a day later. No reply. I emailed a different email address. No reply. tried their online chat support again... ... for 2 hours. Never anyone available so I wrote them an e-mail. Again. finally got a response from someone named "Joshua R" with a completely rude response PUTTING PART OF HIS EMAIL IN CAPS BECAUSE HE WAS THAT AWESOME... explaining to me because of my rude email he was canceling my order and issuing me a refund. Excuse me but isn't it their job to respond to their customers? And when those customers get mad because they can't reach anyone at the company they paid for a product it's OUR fault? Nice PC Planet. Nice."

"First of all lets be fair. In the end I got a complete refund, so all's well that ends well.
But I was prepared to call my bank or my lawyer, to make this work out. Without them I felt I hadn't a prayer. Once this person had my money I felt there was no way I was getting it back without higher authority intervening. He broke the terms of his own written agreement to me and still refused to refund, was completely disrespectful to me the customer, and gave me the distinct impression that he had absolutely no interest what-so-ever in my happiness or satisfaction. The Bank managed a refund, I could not.
I don't know this person, cannot say anything about him personally, and professionally he may be a bundle of joy to all of his other customers. Perhaps I was singled out for training on how not to treat the customer.
His business tactics towards me in my estimation, for my transaction, were to get my money, and give me what he deemed fair in return, whatever that was. What I considered fair didn't seem to interest him. In general this event has made me very wary of doing business with other online vendors that do not have a solid reputation, I likely will not buy from anyone I haven't heard of ever again. This event was extremely unpleasant, and made me feel careless, I definitely learned a lesson. Again I will state that the closing of the transaction was satisfactory to me, I got my refund. A word to the wise is sufficient.
