It does not tarnish and seems to be hypoallergenic although I am not sure. I will say that it has not broken me out in a rash when I wear it despite it being 14K Gold over Silver. The website does not specify if the "Silver" is all Sterling or if it contains other metals in it. All I know is that it is not tarnishing or breaking me out in a rash.
