"Just in case the 50 something 1 star reviews haven't convinced you, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, purchase books from this so called business. I purchased a textbook on 1/16/13 and after a few weeks sent an e-mail asking what was up, the tracking number provided wasn't working (meaning they didn't ship), they replied stating that they did indeed ship the item but it was never scanned so thats why tracking didn't show. Liars. It's nearly a month later and still no book, just sent another e-mail demanding a refund, wish I would have seen these reviews at this website first."

"I wish I had read the reviews for textbooks.com ahead of time because I would've known to avoid them. Unfortunately, I ordered through one of their independent marketplace sellers "AmazingbooksM" and got totally screwed. Never received any order confirmation and 1 week later, my order is still "in progress." There was no contact info provided by textbooks.com either. When I called the customer service line, I first got hung up on after an automatic message was played. Then I got hung up on a second time when I waited to speak to a service agent. I managed to reach someone on my third try and she give me the email of this shady seller which happened to be a personal yahoo email address from the UK. I am livid and extremely behind on my reading. Will NEVER order from them again."

"I placed an order for my son on December 31st/2012 and got one of the books for that order right before school started but the other book from the "sellers" (Clickgoodwill)did not arrived and I cannot get a phone number from textbooks.com in order to call about my book! They charged me right away for the book but to this day we do not have the book, a number, an email to find out about the book. Horrible service! The same day I order from textbooks.com (Chegg) and that book arrived within a week. Very different services. Now textbooks.com gave me an email to that merchant which does not work, I called them back, they gave me another email to "try". Today is the 24th of January and they claim the book still has 16 days to arrive "from the time they shipped it". Which was when? I do not know and they do not know! So they are going to call their merchant to ask. At this point I do not want the book, we ordered another book from Amazon.com they are fast and great! I ordered a book on the 22nd of Jan and it arrived today for my son! That is fast and great costumer service. Very disappointed with textbooks.com and who they have to sell books through their website. I am not sure I will want to order from them again if the merchants they use are not responsible and expect us to pay for their irresponsibility and inability to do business the correct way. At this point I was told if the book ships or was shipped, I will have to pay the shipping charges to ship it back. This is ridiculous specially if they have 2 business days to ship and it has not arrived yet. It is obvious it was not sent within those 2 business days and I should not be responsible for the shipping charges "if" it was every shipped and very late. "

"I found this site due to it's low prices and was a little suspicious, but after looking at the mostly positive reviews I decided to order from them. My book came yesterday (2 days early) and is in even better than 'good' shape. I rarely write reviews but this is something I would have liked to have seen when contemplating my purchase. "

"I always check reviews of other websites before I order anywhere besides Amazon. Well, in this one case I did not and unfortunately it did NOT work out in my favor. I can not believe I ordered my books 11 days ago and they are still not here. My first class date has passed and I was unable to comlete the assignment because I did not have my books. And I still don't! I could not even check the tracking because it was not updated until TODAY, mind you, I ordered 11 days ago. pathetic. I will never order from them again! If I could give zero stars, I would!"

They take their sweet old time shipping. I was left waiting for my college textbook, I had to drop out of my college class because they did not deliver my textbook in a timely manner... in fact I am still waiting and it is STILL being transported to the Delivery service!!! It's not even in the hands of who is delivering it to me!

"Ordered a book and had no idea whether it was delivered or not because they never updated the delivery status on the website. Finally had to contact the post office to get my package but by then so much time had passed that I decided to return the book for a refund. First textbooks.com e-mails me telling me when to expect the refund, and then they tell me that they received a damaged and empty package. No, wait, that's not all! When prompted as to how the package could possibly be damaged when I returned it, they change their story and insist that they only got a wet label that smelled like smoke. Are you kidding me? SO no refund for me and for reasons I'm not even sure of seeing as they gave me two different excuses.

Do yourself a favour and stay away from this company.

"I don't usually write reviews. But in this case given all the other reviews, I thought my review was warranted. I placed an order for a new book. It was delivered on the 3rd business day to Pittsburgh, PA. Did opt for the $3.99 UPS shipping upgrade (rather than free shipping). I couldn't be more satisfied. Great prices. Superfast shipping. Have ordered a second book from them. "

"I do not recommend Textbooks.com simply because of the headache that I'm going through because of them. I ordered a brand new book with access code and the access code didn't come. I called and spent 2 hours worth of my daytime minutes on the phone with someone who was nice but didn't help at all. I was the one being proactive and making suggestions, as well as calling other sources for the access code because they were out of stock.

He eventually told me to order one from their marketplace and that they would refund the amount back to me after I ordered. After I placed the order he told me that actually he wouldn't be able to refund me the amount until AFTER I received the access code in the mail. I said no I didn't want to do that as I would have to wait probably until next month to get a refund. He said in order to cancel I have to email the seller. Still haven't received a response from the seller about the cancellation. Needless to say i shipped the book back to textbooks.com, have to wait til next week to get a refund obviously, and still haven't heard whether the access code order has been cancelled (its been charged to my card as well). So over 200 dollars worth of charges are on my card, and the customer service is absolutely helpless.

So basically I have had to do ALL the work on part of their error, which doesn't seem right to me. They're not unfriendly, just basically unhelpful and didn't know how to solve the problem. I also used probably literally 120 minutes on my cell phone holding on the phone and calling at various bookstores to see if they had the access code (something textbooks.com should do).

And I had to use my gas and get masking tape to send the book back; hopefully I won't run into problems because the plastic was opened on the book and there was no access code. The invoice I received, as well as the sticker on the plastic was the correct ISBN, but the book inside was the wrong ISBN. It was the ISBN for the book alone, no access code.

I feel scammed and have to wait probably two weeks to get a refund for BOTH charges on my card. Ridiculous. Never again.

"The book that was supposed to be in excellent condition had writing inside and reeked of smoke. I asked for exchange and they had additional copies, but was told only remedy is return for refund. I read reviews about Textbooks.com play games with returns (claim returned materials were damaged and refuse refund), and since mine was already in bad shape from the beginning, I decided to rather keep book as is instead of getting refund refused and have no book. Shady company."

"It took me 2 days to receive a book that was only 30 minutes away from me. How does that work out?
Furthermore, the book I was promised was supposedly in "very good" condition on the "quality" scale. It was $1.93 more expensive than the others, so I went ahead and purchased it, believing that the quality would be better than the others that stated wear and tear, written on pages, etc.
When I opened the box, boy, was I wrong. There were Sharpie marks outside/ inside the cover, and a "To _______ (name omitted), January 1977 for reading the most books". No where in the comments did it state there would be all these writings and blacked out words throughout. The cover is torn and ripped.
While I'm not upset over the quality of the book (since it is an older novel), I am disappointed that I was promised a "very good" quality book with no markings, tears, etc., but received otherwise.

"Avoid textbooks.com because of bad shipping services.

Avoid this site because they have very bad shipping and and top of that customer support is no willing to help.

My book was kept at the same location/city by shipping company (DHL) and finally handed over to another shipping company USPS. USPS miss routed it.

I asked customer support to find out why DHL not moved my book for 5 days they replied that you have to wait 10 business days and if it will not be delivered then they will ship another copy. That's not expected. i already missed 2 classes because of this delay.

"Complete debacle! I ordered 3 items, one of which was coming from Barnes and Noble. I asked for ground shipping which would give me plenty of time to receive the books for class. However the book from B&N never arrived. When I inquired, customer service basically told me that it was not their problem they didn't have a tacking number and I should contact B&N, and since my book was to come from them I needed to allow for 6-18 days for arrival. My feeling is YOU took my money for the service YOU offered and YOU should be able to assist and not push the blame to another. After speaking with B&N I learned that my book isn't due to ship for 25 days! Needless to say class has started and I won't have my book for more than 3 whole weeks. Completely unacceptable on both parties. Buy books somewhere else, or be prepared to allow a month for delivery in some cases."
