"So for this spring semester, I had decided to take a Calculus II class, and ordered the appropriate books--the textbook and adjoining solutions manual--through Textbooks.com, expedited shipping on both. Though the solutions manual arrived within the advertised 3-7 business days, the textbook order was canceled due to some miscommunication error. I re-ordered the book, expedited shipping as before. Again, order was canceled due to miscommunication. Eventually, I went through a different website and got the order, but by this time five weeks had passed from when the class began, I had to catch up going through three different chapters, and the first midterm was in a week. To say I was doomed would be understatement.

So yes, I have to drop the class. No I wouldn't recommend going through this site for books to anyone, except maybe someone I don't like.

"Hello. DO NOT ORDER FROM TEXTBOOKS.COM. I ordered a rental book from textbooks.com and received it, used it and sent it back two weeks early. Their vendor cheggs started to charge my debt card because textbooks.com did not forward it to chegg vendor. I returned the book on 1/04/2011 emailed textbooks.com on 1/07/011, 1/14/2011, 1/20/2011, 1/30/2011, 2/05/2011 and 2/10/2011 to report the problem. They wrote many notes on their computer But my accout continued to be charged. I talked to BOTH CHEGG AND TEXTBOOKS.COM TWICE PER WEEK. I ended up being charged $71.00 for a book replacement fee even though I had returned the book. In the end after one month I had to dispute the unauthorized charge. THESE PEOPLE ARE A FRAUD DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! There are many phonies out there to validate my claim my order # MQDCJCB and my receiving # (for returning the book is) 4210270-2. If you want no service and unauthorized charges rent or buy from textbooks.com or cheggs."

"I purchased 3 textbooks ( Jan 11, 2011) for my sons second semester classes. Two were by affiliated book stores and were used. After three weeks my son calls up and asks where are my books... I first had to wonder why is he was asking now , he should have his books. I called the customer service number, they told me to email my information to the , sounded to me like the person on the phone didn't want to deal with me. I emailed marketplace email and signed as irratated customer.... waited three days before I heard from someone. they told me "I am very sorry, but it looks like there was an issue in processing your order. The information was never distributed to the Marketplace sellers." and why not! these items were price sensative and the order was paid at those quoted prices. You had no processing error taking my money " Due to the timely nature of the situation, I have requested this ordercancelled so that you may acquire the textbooks as you see fit. Eric G.Marketplace Customer Service". yes, hang me out to dry. Your service is no service. Now my son has been without books for three weeks, and it will cost me an additional $110.00 and I still do not have my funds returned."

"I ordered a book online and the website had a picure of the 3rd edition. The 4th edition arrived instead. When I called to see who was paying the return shipping I was told that I was responsible for it because I ordered it. I wouldn't recommend buying from textbooks.com."

"I ordered a book at a low price thinking i got a great deal but after 2 weeks the book never showed up. I looked up the tracking number and the book started in MO (i live in UT) and then went to Kentucky, then PA. this is hundreds of miles in the completely wrong direction. Then i try to call their office and its closed due to weather. Horrible horrible company, DO NOT USE TEXTBOOK.COM unless you like dealing with a mediocre company."

"Orders from the main website are delivered on time; however, their marketplace support are bad. They say an item is shipped, but documentation shows that shipping did not occur until a week later. Customer Service is non responsive!!!"

"We called an agent to ask about returning the book and she told us the label on the invoice was a prepaid UPS shipping label. UPS told us it was not. Another call to the company revealed that the first agent was wrong. The second agent told us to log on our account to process a refund and that process would generate a prepaid shipping label. It did not. A third call to an agent required him to send an email with a link to print a label. This has been an awful experience dealing with this company. The agents seem nice enough but unfortunately many have no idea how to help you. My suggestion is to try another service."

"Don't recommend this online reseller!! Ordered book on Sept 17, received acknowledgment right away that seller had shipped it. Three weeks later still nothing had arrived (and used books from Amazon usually arrive within 10 days at most). Emailed textbooks.com again on Oct. 4th. Received reply that I had to contact their supplier, Alibris, who replied that now book was on its way. Received four days later! "

"I had a TERRIBLE experience with textbooks.com!!!! I ordered a textbook from them, got an order confirmation email, then waited and waited. The book never came... i called customer support and they said the book was mistakenly out of stock when i ordered it(my credit card number they easily accepted, of course!)... i was never contacted about it... i spoke to some manager Eric who was awfully rude and would not own up that the company was at fault and should have contacted me so i wouldnt have to scramble to find a txtbook once the semester was well underway... Never had such an awful experience with a textbook retailer before!"

"I recently ordered a biology textbook from this site. I researched all over and this site was the least expensive for the book. I purchased new (since it just came out this year), so I can not speak on the quality of the used inventory. However, the new book shipped smoothly, it actually came faster than expected, was cheaper then anyone else that I could find and is getting me through my biology class. I could not ask for a better experience! And, I also do not get a whole lot of SPAM from textbooks.com, and this is greatly appreciated. "

"I bought this book through textbook.com and towards the end of the quarter, i found 10 pages missing and torn from the book. Unbelievable, textbook.com claim that their used book contains all pages. this is not true, buyers beware. Textbook.com does not make sure all book meet their requirement! However, Textbook.com did send me a new book and asked me to return the old one. The service is recommendable. "

"They sent me a textbook that was missing a CD, but the customer service rep on the phone was extremely helpful. He understood that I needed my book and CD immediately for a class, so he shipped out a new one right away and emailed me a pre-paid label to send back my defective book at no extra cost to me. He even told me I could wait until the new book was received before I sent back my old one. AMAZING SERVICE!!! I will definitely be back and I am spreading the word to my classmates looking for textbooks!"

"My son lost his 8th grade history book. His school wanted $85 to replace it. I ordered the same book from Textbooks.com for $9.99 after shipping. The book arrived 6 days later in nearly brand new condition. This book is in better condition than his original book. No writing in it, no bending at the spine, no missing pages, no marks on the cover. I am very impressed and will be telling all of the other parents I know to use this vendor. "

"I ordered a Medical surgical book at a great price. That is where the fun ended. Upon UPS delivery, the package that was supposed to contain a 9 lb book was completely empty, not even a packing slip. I called and was told that they could reship the order the next day. This is a problem since I needed the book today. It would appear that there is little to no quality control when it comes to shipping the items ordered. I am not sure if I will use textbooks.com in the future as not enough was done to get my order out ASAP."
