"My complaint is with the 5-in-1 Remote which is NOT as advertised. It does not allow a user to access the sender unit from the next room let alone another floor. It operates only when held right in front of the sender unit. When I called to find out if there was a problem with the remote I was told that the remote signal was too weak to operate from another room and that I would have to purchase additional equipment. Huh? Then why are you advertising the remote as being capable of doing what your own people say it is not capable of doing? No wonder the remote is "free" as that is what it is worth.

Addendum to above review. I received two responses from X10 re my complaint. Neither person was able to identify a problem with my product or to offer a solution. Their remote does NOT work as advertised.

"Well i called into tech support because I reallized that the product was not Vista compattible. the person assisting me was a lady by the name of Nakita. She was very rude, did not provide me with any assistance and her demeanor was very poor. this is the first time I have ever written one of these but for the sake of the customers who by products from your company this can be mad. To start my first reaction was when i told her that I have vista and she replied that there is a fix however she cant help me with it I then replied can i return the product, withoout no hesitation she said yes and tried to hang the phone up, however I bought the product for a reason and and I want a solution. Okay here is the deal, she should not be working in a environment were she deals with customers, new or exhisting, she is not capable of holding a conversation and is just plane rude. i hope that this info someone will read and reallize the potential damage that one person can have."

"Regina Pete and Eric Boyd were the service tech customer service (?) people that tried to assist me. Neither got back to me and Regina gave me an phone extension to call here back on that doesn't exist. I have been purchasing x-10 products for over 8 years now and haven't had a need for technical assistance. The one time I need it, no one could help me. I am returning what I recently purchased and won't be purchasing any additional merchandise from x-10 and neither will any of my friends. To bad your company can't support your products."

"Just received my order. The equipment looks very good, however the software has been very bothersome. Running Windows VISTA is the primary problem. The drivers have not been updated for it yet. Another problem is with receiving e-mail. All of X10's e-mail gets returned. I do not have them blocked. My ISP can't explain why. Had to restort to a secondary e-mail account to get the download zip, links, and regristration codes. Had to talk with Support a number of times. Nakita tried to be helpful, but... Jenn and Sam came to the rescue. Jenn was very knowledgable, pleasant and most helpful. Enjoyed our exchanges. Looking forward to getting everything operational.

"Everything arrived very quickly and complete. I do have a suggestion for future models of the VCR Commander. That is provide a way that the commander can be turned off and not lose the REC, PLAY and STOP programming. I do not use the "Nanny Cam" too often and would like an easy way to start it up after sometime of no use. Your online and phone help was very good and a great help in getting the system operational.

"Regina's service was subperb in resending me the software I needed to start my registration process. However I'm having touble completing registration because part of the way through this process it asks for my windows disc to be inserted and I don't have one . My windows Me, I think was incorporated into the computer when purchased. So how do I get to the next phase of registration without it? Hattie Simmons"

"Returned Invoice 3300020 RMA#250177 after some problems with your customer service dept. I had the good luck to get Sam C from your customer service who helped me out.
