Good customer service poor delivery of items

"I love my set bedroom set purchased: however, I head, foot, and side rails, dresser, chest, 3 drawer dresser, 2 nightstands and 2 lamps. From November to now, I'm still without my 3 drawer dresser. I received 6 calls changing the delivery. My last date given was Jan 28, no 3 drawer dresser received to date. I had to call them to find out my delivery isn't until April! WTH"

Part 3 awful awful service

"Problem:
My husband and I bought furniture from Value City November 28th 2020, we were told it was going to arrive first Dec 26 2020, then January 15th 2021 we then got a call saying it was in January 12th I called the store and spoke to a young lady and told her we could not pick it up until all the furniture was there cuz they only had the recliner by its self (separate) and we were informed that only half the loveseat recliner was there the other half and console was not there so she wrote on the computer (so she said) that we were to pick up all pieces when they told us on February 5th, 2021 they then changed, to Jan21, 2021 we got a call back from corporate and we got a call from Value City saying I'll Furniture was there all of it, jan21, 2021, we drove up there only three pieces were there we're missing our recliner the seperate recliner was in on January 12th 2021 and our recliner is no longer there spoke to a manager named Craig or Carl who was very rude and informed us they only hold merchandise for 8 days who holds merchandise for only 8 days when a customer pays for it and calls them to set up a delivery time or a pickup time to the 21st of Jan so now he is telling us we have to wait until February 18th and there is nothing he could do about it when I complained and told him at least I wanted a discount from waiting 3 months for my furniture he turned around and wanted to refund all of it and then told me to pretty much shut up because there was nothing else he could do about it he was very rude and does not need to be a manager when he was going to give me a refund he said he could only give us a check back after we pay cash in hand on November 28th. I told him to hold on no refund and I wanted to make sure that I get my recliner he told us that he is not going to guarantee us to get a recliner even on the 15th of February now mind you we have paid for this in cash and have been waiting 3 months and I've received nothing we want this problem solved and I want my furniture now I am tired of all the excuses of "well due to covid-19." we have been giving three different months of picking up our furniture this is getting out of hand we could have went elsewhere and got Furniture in 2 weeks with no issues whatsoever my family got there furniture from different places faster then we have. They gave away our recliner we paid for and it was there now we have to wait another month!

Terrible Customer Service And FURNITURE

"I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GIVE 1 STAR THEY DON’T EVEN DESERVE THAT. I purchased dresser and night stand on 10/30/2020 from the union and walden store was supposed to arrive 11/21/2020 but was delayed was fine with that Picked up 12/10/2020 took furniture out of box big dresser had 3 feet for back of dresser and only 1 for front should of had 2 for back 2 for front plus dresser has scratches on it. Called them right away on 12/10/2020 was told to take pictures and send to them which I did right away even called them back to make sure they received pictures was told someone would get back to me. No one did called today 12/15/2020 and was told because I didn't purchase warranty that I would have to take the whole dresser to the Amherst store. I BOUGHT NEW FURNITURE NOT USED FURNITURE BUT BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY THEIR WARRANTY ITS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE THIS HEAVY DRESSER TO THE AMHERST STORE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT SEND SOMEONE OUT TO FIX IT. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE FOR FURNITURE THEY DON’T CARE IF THEY SOLD YOU DAMAGED FURNITURE UNLESS YOU PAID FOR WARRANTY. WILL NEVER GIVE THEM MY BUSSINESS AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERY ONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE"

Do not buy the warranty

"I love my furniture and had a good experience with the sales lady I worked with but DO NOT PURCHASE THE WARRANTY!!!! I will literally leave a review on every single value city furniture page because of the poor customer experience with this damn warranty company. I paid for a warranty for 5 years on over 10k of furniture and was told not to worry they cover each piece a certain number of times and will fix it all or replace it. Im not being unreasonable. They were closed during the lockdown so obviously noone was coming into homes to repair furniture so my chairs ended up getting stained so when they said they couldn't clean the stains I sort of accepted it and will hire someone to clean professionally but I recently got a chip in my table and they still denied the claim. It literally follows all of the 100 rules they have to make a claim and they still won't come out to repair the chip. They saw from my pictures that there is more damage to the table so they can't come out to fix the one recent spot and the one I put the claim in for because of the other damage!! What a joke .what the hell did i pay for. Damage occurs over time and since they were closed for so long how the hell do they expect a call within 5 days of the occurrence to put a claim in to repair the damage when they're closed but when I actually do put a claim in within the 5 day period they still deny it because there's other damage. Im furious and will not stop until they repair this table ."

Unbelievable

"My boyfriend and I came in to buy a couch a few weeks ago at the Brooklyn, OH store and worked with Darnice. She was wonderful on the front end and we ended up purchasing the Ethan sofa. That's where the good customer service ended.

 

On the day of delivery, my boyfriend took off work in order to receive the couch. When the delivery people got there, the guy came into the house, looked around, and instantly announced that the ceilings were not tall enough and there was no way to get the couch into the house. The couch was never taken off the truck. Nothing was even attempted.

 

My boyfriend and I went back to the store to speak with someone about potentially getting a refund, or purchasing a new couch. We were coupled with Darnice once again and she questioned us multiple times about the height of the ceilings and the measurements of the couch. We discovered that the delivery guy had measured the longest end of the couch incorrectly. We were instructed to go home, take a video of the available space where we could bring it in, and come back to the store.

 

Once we got home, we did in fact discover that the ceilings were not tall enough. However, we found a window through which we could bring the couch. We got back to the store and asked for Darnice, who immediately pushed us in the direction of the manager, Jay. We told Jay about our experience and he told us that he already heard about our issue and had questioned why no measurements were taken by the delivery man and no pictures were taken when the couch couldn't fit. That's because the couch was never even taken into the house to see whether it could fit.

 

Regardless, we explained to Jay that we had a window we could bring it through and we would like to have it delivered once again. Jay told us that he could not get it to us for another two weeks. Our couch was supposed to be delivered two days prior to that. This was not an error on our part, but on the part of the store.

 

We then asked if we would be able to pick it up instead of having it delivered as my boyfriend has a pickup truck. They said we could. I asked if they would refund the delivery fee since nothing had, in fact, been delivered. Jay hesitated, but then told us it would be.

 

What blew my mind was that when we said we would be there to pick it up the next day, Jay said, "Call me in the morning to make sure it's still here." The couch that we had already purchased, that should have been in our house already, was potentially not going to be there in the morning. I told Jay that we had spoken to Shelby that morning and she had confirmed that it was, in fact, still in the warehouse. Jay said "That's not always the case." Jay was insinuating that he was going to sell our couch if someone came in to buy it.

 

My boyfriend and I then demanded to see our couch so that we would know it would be available the next day. Jay said, "We're really busy right now." We once again said we wanted to see the couch and after sighing, he begrudgingly took us back. Once we saw that it was in fact in the warehouse, he said "be here at 10AM." He did not give us an option for pickup, nothing. My boyfriend and I both have jobs, we could not be there until 3PM. We told him that, and he once again sighed, and put a note on the couch.
I cannot even believe what a terrible experience we had. I will never shop at Value City in Brooklyn, OH again, or more than likely, any Value City Furniture store. We paid $1600 for a couch that we were not guaranteed. They were going to try and take it away from us if a better offer came along.
Awful, awful customer service. Will never shop here again.

Horrible Experience

"After 19 years of buying furniture, I will never step foot in a VCF store again. This experience has been an absolute nightmare. I recently moved, and purchased a king bed room set, king mattress, a bunk bed set with a trundle, and 3 twin mattresses. I placed this order based on delivery date so I was sure I would have certain items. Everything except the bunk bed was to be delivered on Wednesday March 25th, with the bunk bed to be delivered on Wednesday April 8th. Then on the morning of March 25th, I get a voicemail that our mattress wouldn't be delivered because it wasn't on the truck. The delivery driver told us that it would be delivered Friday March 27th, but then I received a phone call that it wouldn't be delivered until Wednesday April 8th with the bunk bed. I raised hell because now my pregnant Fiance and I would be sleeping on the floor for 2 weeks. They finally called me back and said we would receive the mattress and bunk beds on Saturday April 4th. Then on the 3rd, we were told the bunk beds weren't getting delivered until the 9th. Not that big of a deal. The kids can sleep on their mattress on the floor for now. Then our expensive mattress gets delivered and isn't even usable. See the pictures for yourself. I'm so **** and my Fiance has been in tears shes so upset after sleeping on the floor."

Rude manager at the store.

"Purchased a sofa. After delivery and upon inspection found numerous defects. I was told by store manager, who was not nice at all, that my only option was to have a technician come out and fix the defects. Well it is my opinion if you buy something new it shouldn't have to be fixed. Called customer service and they gave me several options. The one I chose was to have the sofa replaced. He scheduled a day for the replacement. I called the next day and spoke to someone at the Corporate office just to follow up and to complain about how the store manager had only given me one option. When the guy at Corporate looked me up he said there was never anything scheduled for a replacement of my sofa. Basically I was lied to. So he offered me the replacement but at this point I was not trusting these people so I turned down the replacement and will wind up paying a restock fee of 15% after much protest. The treatment I endured will not be compensated. So much for customer service and customer satisfaction. You get what you pay for. I will be shopping at a high end store for a sofa. I may pay a little more but I am sure the quality of the sofa and the customer service will meet my expectations.

Stay Away! Mediocre service!

"STAY AWAY!!!!! My husband and I were in search of a couch for our new home and thought this store had a pretty good variety so we headed to their store in Falls Church, VA. We bought our couch and asked to have our couch delivered on a Friday. By mistake, the store scheduled it for Wednesday instead. When they called us to confirm our delivery, we told them that it was supposed to be Friday, which they gladly changed for us, only to receive a call Thursday to tell us that our delivery on Friday was not taking place. They said that since we changed our delivery date, that our couch was given to the next customer in line and that we would have to wait 2 more weeks because it was out of stock, or was coming from Sri Lanka, and 20 other excuses we got from different people. Fast forward 2 weeks and when we finally get our couch, they deliver the same 2 pieces of the sectional, leaving us now with half a couch. Their delivery guy told us we would get it in a week (next Friday). When we called the store to check, they had scheduled for Thursday without even checking with us if we had that date available. We asked to speak to a manager to get compensated, to which her response was, we can only credit you $70 for the delivery fee. Our purchase was over $2,500 and we only got credited $70!!!! Their managers are extremely rude and condescending and their service is nothing but mediocre. Do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else. We definitely will not be buying from them ever again!"

Poor customer service and delivery

"I ordered my furniture on September 22nd they gave me a delivery date of October 2nd but only delivered half of my ordered and failed to tell me that the other half wasn’t in stock. I called the store and the lady tells me that they changed my delivery date to November 6th nobody had called me to ask if I was okay with that or anything. So I waited until November 6th the other half of my furniture was delivered and this time it didn’t have all the parts to the couch so the delivery guy tells me that I need to call and order the parts which should’ve came with my order already! I called the store ONCE AGAIN and she tells me that she doesn’t have control over parts that I would need to speak with the warehouse manager. I asked to speak with the store manager and she calls the warehouse and says they ordered the parts but they don’t know when they will be in. Moral of this story I’ve waited almost 3 months on some damn furniture and it’s still not complete so I will not make one payment until I get everything that I am paying for!"

DO NOT BUY FROM VALUE CITY - HORRIBLE

"DO NOT USE OR BUY FROM THIS STORE>< We bought a dinning room table from value city, What a disappointment. We waited over 1 month for delivery and took the day off work for delivery. After waiting a whole day without any sign of delivery, we call only to be told the truck broke done for a delivery that was supposed to take place in the morning. Very unprofessional, inconsistent and disappointed, poor customer service. If i could give a zero, I would. I will write another review again."

Misleading Warranty and AWFUL Customer Service!!

"I would give 0 stars if I could...Long story short, I am being penalized for having to use the extended warranty by paying to have it delivered because the warranty company wouldn't actually fix the problem. Nobody can help because "it's company policy" and I have to pay for delivery. It was "helpfully" explained that I signed the receipt that clearly stated this. A. That's not what I was told when I bought this warranty and B. It is NOT clear. I used to shop here all the time, and I will never do so again. It's $105. I feel confident that they can make this right, but just refuse to do so. It's a small enough amount that it actually just feels petty.

UPDATE: The team that responded to my review and suggested I email them so that they could look into the issue further decided to do nothing to correct the issue by giving me a refund, but told me they were sorry I received incorrect information about the warranty but would uphold the store's decision NOT to give me my money back. They may as well have not bothered. DEFINITELY never shopping here again.
