Poor Product Quality and terrible customer assistance

"We bought a 4 piece sectional sofa and the warranty they provide from Uniters in 1/21/2016. The sales man told us it was an excellent warranty that even if our dogs ripped the sofa they would replace it. In October of 2017 I called Uniters because the bonded leather was starting to peel, plus the plastic plate around the remote buttons had cracked. The sofa was peeling on the seat and the front of the console and front of the armrest. Uniters came out and looked at it and told us it was a manufacturers defect and they would send someone from Value City Furniture out. Value City came out and they told us, yes that is defective but you need to go through the warranty company. I called the warranty company and again they would not do anything so I called the store manager of the Cuyahoga Falls Store, Damien Bay since that is were we purchased it. Damien said that they normally would just replace that section for us but they no longer carried it. He said I could come pick another section out from another sofa, and I said it won't match my sofa. He said your right so you probably won't want to do that. I told him I spent $2700 on this sofa and you need to replace it for me, or give me a refund. Damien Bay would not do either. He said he would give me the refund on the warranty. What good does the $300 do, I can't buy a new sofa with $300 and I can't afford to buy a new sofa after only owning the current one for 20 months. I will never shop Value City Furniture again the store and their warranty company don't provide a quality product or service."

First time customer.

"

First time customers!They promise us furniture that will hook together ( 5 pieces a Sofa and Love seat) then after waiting almost 3 months to get it, multiple trips to the store after receiving a call saying our order was in(which it was still on back order and not there) , phone calls, and then it doesn't fit together!

Now I have to leave work to meet their guy who can't fix it at my home. Wait for Mike Story the assistant manager to call me (never received a call) I call and he tells me he will call me the next day. (No call) a week+ later still waiting and still no call (today 5/4/17) I call. Mike Story gives me multiple excuses about how their delivery truck is down, my paper work is on his desk and he's not at his desk...

etc... (Not really my problem and I don't know what all this has to do with my furniture bases not hooking together) Mike Story says he will call me in two hours with a solution. (He never called I waited an additional 30 min. in good faith) I call corporate who directs me right back to him.(After I told her he was not helping me rather ignoring me) Mike Story informs me to come in to find something that will work he will make it right.

Then BOOM here comes the bank ****!! He wants me to give him an additional $700+! Then Mike Story treated me like I was trying to get over on him! I would have been content and he wouldn't have seen me had they given me pieces that had fit together like promised!

I was very patient with him up until he accused me of trying to get over on him. I went in and purchased my furniture at the cost that was listed not once asking for a deal or discount. All I expected was to receive what was promised and paid for and that did not happen. Absolutely unprofessional!

Mike Story should not be in management he has no customer service whatsoever!

That coming from a Office Manager.(Myself) Never once have I ever been treated so badly or talked too like that for something that was their fault!

No such thing as customer service at this store-Woodbridge NJ

"Run as far away from this store as possible! It's my pleasure to give this store the worst customer service review and I am a very easy going customer. October 2015 purchased a bed on sale ....couple months later was very dissatisfied with bed, having back issues, complaining to friends...still paying it off...tried to make it work. Late July/ early August after I finally have had it, bed is defective I call the service department and their response is to send out a representative from "furniture Dr." to look at it...guy comes, takes picture of red string draped across the bed, takes picture of tape measure of depression in the bed of 1 and half inches, takes my report of how unhappy I am with the mattress etc. Next couple of weeks I get a message on my phone of how their inspector "pushed" the measuring tape into the mattress and they are not satisfied with the pictures he took....so they want to make another appointment to send someone out again to inspect the bed. Hell NO! Now we are into early October and the bed is one payment away from being paid off....I go into the store in person and speak with the Assistant Manager Kareem...he says he will talk to his Manager and get back to me and see if we can't provide help for my mattress. He never called me back at all...called for a month of Sundays, every Sunday asking for Kareem...they are happy to keep you on hold, have you tell your story to the clerks...suggest I call the salesman at another store (which I did). I have constantly been referred back to Service....so I called service tonight. What a run around...if you ask a direct question...they say they don't know....they just want to send another tech out. I called the actual store in Woodbridge again for the 3rd time, held the line for 15 mins until Kareem could be found in the store. He wanted nothing to do with me after 5mins and kept referring me to service. He said he spoke to his boss (Manager of the store (I doubt it)....when I asked him why he never returned my 3 weeks of Sunday night phone calls, he didn't have an answer..when I kept saying the word "customer service" it didn't matter. There is no such thing as the customer is right here, nor are they interested in servicing my need for an actual non defective bed. Here's my point: the first inspector didn't get the answer they were looking for! so they want a redo! Secondly, a pillow top mattress doesn't depress very well, the point of a pillow top mattress is that is stays fluffy on top. The problem is not the pillow top but the springs, construction underneath, just lay in it and the whole thing is defective and depressed to the point of "have fun trying to get out of it". By the way, my kids are 75lbs, and 120lbs and I am 175lbs. No one here can lay on that bed and not be in pain the next day...we have all been to the chiropractor from it. I have slept on the couch more times than I care to say since August. THIS COMPANY DOESN'T BELIEVE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE.........RUN and take your money somewhere else. oh and Kareem...we were on the phone for 5mins not the 1/2 hour you so insulted me with. Never in my life have I ever encountered such horrific treatment from a store.

Terrible service

"I bought two couches, and a mattress, box set. Was told that it will arrive Wednesday.

Waited on that day, moved all furniture. Gave it away, removed my old mattress. Nothing came that day, no call from the company. I called them, they tell me it was pushed until Saturday.

How was it pushed until Saturday?! They could not explain. Which is fine, delays happen. At least CALL!!!

Give a heads up. Say something, I don't even need an apology, just a call to tell me it will be late. Changes happen. Nope, I was told nobody looks at the computer to pay attention to changes...I mean really?!

That is your job? As a customer service agent? It's serve, and make sure things go smoothly. At the end of it all, my delivery was waved.

Saturday came, and only the top of the mattress came, not the full set. I was told it was not in the description. But it was on my receipt. They call me and tell me Wednesday again, as it did not arrive in the shipment with the couches and all.

How that happens?! Is beyond me at this point. All in all, I would never again shop at this place.

Horrible customer service who clearly have no idea what they are doing there.This will be the last time I ever go there.

"I had a bad experince with replacing 6 damaged chairs. The delivery driver has been out to me house about 5 times since May and here it is July. 3 of the 5 times they did not have the product on the truck. Twice of the 5 times, the brought out damaged items. Even the 2 delivery drivers noted the items were damaged when they took them off the truck. After the 5th time I called and told them to forget it, do not come back out to my house. I will try to fix the damaged chairs myself even though I paid $900.00 for a brand new table and chair set! NOT HAPPY WITH VALUE CITY!!!!!"

20 years of furnitue

"I, as well as my family members have shopped the Morse Rd, Cols Ohio VCF location and have never been disappointed with our purchases. We have bought bedroom sets, many couches, end tables, etc, My new couch is fabulous. I still have the leather couch I purchased 6 yrs ago. It has maintained its beauty and is being passed onto my son for his apartment.
Every item was delivered by fantastic delivery persons and all the sales persons were NICE! Even the young lady working the register was pleasant with a great smile. I guess it matters who is the store manager and employees for many of the reviews. They also have a scratch/dent room that I always find something in.

"I too am dissatisfied with the quality of my bedroom set. Every piece has a defect, scratch, ding or just poor fit and finish. I believe they sell seconds and sell them as first quality. Don't waste your hard earned money at this store, you'll be as sorry as We are."

"VERY UNSATISFIED!!! I purchased a mirror at the Value City in Orland Park, IL. on 6/29. Mirror was pick up by my daughter on 7/1 and mirror was not wrapped, just put into the car without anything. I asked manager for a discount since it was last one and she granted a 10% discount. She didn't state nor does my receipt state it is as is and no return. Wanted to return the mirror on 7/13 and spoke to a Elizabeth Spuck, manager and she said I could not, due to it being pass 7 days. I will never shop at Value City Furniture again. Manager wanted to tell me that it was on my receipt and yes return policy is on back. It should be stated verbally so consumers can read the policy on BACK of receipt.
I didn't want a money return but to exchange it or a merchandise credit. Ms. Spuck was not helpful, she was rude and not at all helpful. I have purchased many accessories from this store, and will not purchase again from this store. Will inform all I know of how a store just puts an ALL GLASS mirror into a car without any bubble paper or anything and then when I questioned them about it all they could say was I'm sorry. This mirror was $200.00 which is not expensive, but I still paid for the mirror and should be able to return without a hassle. If your policy is to return merchandise within 7 DAYS IT SHOULD BE STATED ON FRONT OF RECEIPT AND TOLD VERBALLY TO YOU. Value City lost a valuable customer, but I see now this store really doesn't care about it's reputation or customers.

" JUST RECEIVED IT. NOTICE A WHITE SPOT ON A COUPLE OF MY COFFEE TABLE AND END TABLE. WILL GIVE THEM A CALL.THIS STORE IS IN SPRINGDALE OH .THE SALES PERSON WE DELT WITH WAS VERY NICE, I DID FELL PRESURE ABOUT THE FABRIC PROTECTOR ALL TOGETHER IT WAS AROUND 400.00 DIDNT REALIZE IT TILL I GOT HOME AND LOOK AT THE BILL,AND THAT WAS MY FAULT. DELIVERY WAS ON TIME, THE DELIVERY PERSON WAS VERY NICE."

"I purchased a livingroom set from value city in Oct.of 2008. First, they have had to replace my cushions twice, the back board of my large sofa broke, I had wires poking out each of the sides on my loveseat, to name a few. When they finally said the part was in to fix my sofa, they forgot to mention that all they were going to do was put an 18in piece of wood in it,so much for replacing it with a new part. I have been jacked around for the last 3 years by there managers. I have been told they will get right back with, ha ha what a joke. When I have talked to them they were rude and wanted to argue with me. Now they are telling me my warranty has expired. Thank God they were so kind to put that 18in piece of wood in the back of my sofa out of the kindest of there heart. I will never buy a nother thing from the Value City Furniture Store, in Mansfield Ohio."

"I purchased 2 pub tables with a total of 16 chairs for my dining room and kitchen. It's junk, none of the chairs are level, and the table top has had one use and already shows small scratches. I've tried several different placemats of all kinds of materials, and when you move them it leaves a mark of where they were placed, no matter how much you try to buff or polish, they won't go away. I hate them and was going to pay them off right away, now I am going to pay very little each month till the promotional period is over and I have to pay the balance. Don't buy cheap furniture cause it's so costly in the end!"

"My husband and I bought a love seat and couch from VCF. We also purchased the Stainsafe fabric warranty to cover stains at $90 for the couch and $60 for the love seat. VCF was pushing this HARD as there's a huge profit margin to be made. A few months later, when we called Stainsafe to get out a stain from our dog, they told us they wouldn't be able to make it look any better, that we'd be better off just leaving it alone... We stupidly let that slide and didn't pursue it further. Recently, when a little friend slept on the love seat, she wet the love seat and we called again. Stainsafe told us they'd mail us a cleaning kit to use OURSELVES!!

WHAT A JOKE! We are the cleaners?!! I hate VCF for selling such a scam.
