"I went to Nextag and saw that Thundercameras had the Canon 7D for $500 lower than the average price... I called. A man who was sometimes Josh, other times Andy, and still other-times Allen, assisted me. I told him I was a novice... a first time 35mm buyer and needed help and advice...
Andy, Allen, Josh, sold me the Canon 7D, with a canon warranty for an extra $100... the warranty was not in the box. I later found out that it should have come free with a US canon camera..
Andy Allen Josh then told me the camera came without a battery... to buy one and he'd give me the other free... He charged me $280... I later found out that the camera comes with a canon battery... and the "get one free (non-name) battery" that cost me $280, did not work with the 7D camera, and costs $4.35 on line.
Andy Allen Josh, told me that the canon 7D didn't come with a charger... so he sold me one for $150... There was a canon charger in the box when it arrived... and the extra Charger AAJ sold me for $150 was $2.87 on line...
I bought a lens from AAJ... one they advertised for $1000... AAJ said was not compatible with the canon 7D... the one I needed, he told me, was $1270... he said it had a "steel base." He told me that if I found it cheaper to call him and he'd refund the difference... I called Adorama.com who had this lens for $1040... and asked the sales guy if the base was made of steel... he had no idea what i was saying... he said the E-FS 17-55mm were "solid lenses..." meanning that they were all made the same.

So, for the lens and camera that they advertised for $999 and $949 respectfully, I finally received an itemized bill, without itemized prices, that totaled $3,052.00.... I took out my calculator and it was as I suspected $949 and $999 did not add up to $3,052...
I tried calling and emailing... no one would respond. They wrote the email below, after I contacted Atty Gen. office... The Atty Gen.s office told me that last summer they shut down 7 of these types of camera stores, all from Brooklyn (the County of Kings)... the same county Thundercameras has listed as where their PO Box is located... Must be a huge PO Box to hold all that inventory.

Look, for those of you who are thinking of buying... it's a scam... They will rob you...
For those that have been scammed and robbed please help me put these guys in jail and shut them down (again)... go to the link below and file a complaint...

One more thing... They claim in their response below that I just want to do them harm... Why in the world would i take the time to do this, make up all of the above to cause a random retailer harm? Why would all of the reviews here and all over the interwebs write about their awful experiences with Thundercameras... just Google Thundercameras Reviews...

I think a better question is why would Thundercameras put up all of the generic 4 and 5 star reviews on this site... Oh, right, to do the unsuspecting consumer harm!

"WARNING - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

I placed an order for Nikon D90 and received confirmation same day. Confirmation looked strange - no product / price information - ALARM POINT #1.

Next day I got e-mail asking me to call and confirm the order. After connecting to a customer rep he immediately told me that they can not accept my American Express credit card, which is odd as web site allows you to place the order using AMEX - ALARM POINT #2.

Then he tells me that battery is not that good and camera itself is "imported". Well, to my knowledge all Nikons are made outside of US (somewhere in Asia) and by default they are all "imported", so I asked for an explanation. It turns out that the cameras they sell are not made for the US market, missing packaging, charger and manual is not in English. Which also means that Nikon will not service this product. Here's your ALARM POINT #3.

At this point rep just hanged up on me. This conversation occurred around 3:30 pm.

When I called back - I was informed that my order was canceled because D-90 was out of stock as of this morning. Strange - they had it in stock 5 minutes ago and now they tell me that they were out of it as of 6 hours ago. THIS IS SUCH A LIE!!!

Upon me getting off the phone I received e-mail that the order was canceled at my request, which is also a LIE!

Dont waste your time with "Thunder Cameras". They're a total scam. Absolutely NEVER EVER shop from these guys unless you want grief.

UPDATE 09/27/2010: Shortly after I wrote my initial review - a rep named Josh contacted me and said they wanted to "make it up to me". I got on the phone with him and he promised to send the camera for original price with US warranty. I decided to give them another chance, but alas - heard nothing from them after 11 days of our last conversation.

" "FRAUD! Stay away from this company! I made an order of totally $ 4187,-, but Thundercameras.com charged my creditcard $ 4599,99 without my knowledge or accept. When adressing "customer service" with this fact, they completely refused to discuss this as my "account manager" was the only one who could look at the case. After more than 10 attempts and an equal number of promises that he should call back, I've had to give up discussing this matter with them and take action via issuer of the credit card. Furthermore, Thundercameras only delivered part of the order. Now, almost two months after promised delivery date I'm still missing a lens, a flash, a memorycard, and a battery. I've been promised that this has been shipped both both in writing and on the phone, however nothing has been received other than a UPS trackingnumber that according to UPS does not exist! I have only one advise, stay away from this company!!


I posted the above rating, and was shortly thereafter contacted by Thundercameras. They claimed all was a mistake and would do everything possible to make me a happy customer, including refunding me the overcharged amount. But I had to confirm that I then was happy, and therefore remove/change my review here on Resellerratings.com. Against better jugement I did this, but never saw any of my refund!!

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE! Review is now back in order to warn everybody, and trust me, it is worth the 400dollars to tell the world about these crooks!

"I was looking for a Nikon D90 body and some lenses. Thundercameras.com definitely has the best price, and the initial ordering process was smooth. The shipping charges varied from 'free but 2 weeks delivery' to 'relatively high for anything faster'. I was required to call in to verify the order, which seems mainly an attempt to sell accessories that seem to be priced much higher than average online retail. The associate on the phone was polite, and explained the accessories without being too insistent. Immediately after the phone call, I received an email indicating that the item was backordered.. I don't know why this wasn't mentioned during the call, and the email did not explain which item caused the backorder, as most electronic ordering systems would normally do. I decided against waiting approximately 4 weeks (backorder + shipping) for the items, and called in to cancel. The cancellation was accepted and confirmed quickly and politely.

I cannot recommend this seller; my feeling is that an online seller should have an fully-online ordering system, with backorders noted prior to completing checkout, no verification calls unless there is a problem, and much better two-way communication via email. I tend to believe that I would have (at some point) gotten the items I purchased at the excellent advertised price, but personally value response time and customer service as much as low pricing.

"I just want to thank Steve, I needed a good video camera to take with me on a cruise, he was
knowlegable,pleasing to talk with understand,what I needed answer all my question, regarding the camera i wanted. I didn't like the first camera, I was able send it back, but I did have to paid the postage??, with no problem, everthing he offered I received, I'm pleased with the service I received. I did have to paid more for the second camera then I expected, I paid it anyway because I was leaving in a week. I think I paid to much.

"After posting my previous negative review, I did receive a call from 'Andy' in the customer service dept. reguarding my comment. He DID assure me that he understood why I was upset and that he was going to be handling my problem. Andy was the ONLY representative I have EVER spoken to who ACTUALLY helped me out with my issue. All the others told me that they didnt know when my lens would be in, luckily, Andy was able to give me more information. So if you plan on calling them, I reccomend speaking to Andy.

He told me that they are receiving a shipment of my lens on October 13, and they are upgrading me to express shipping. Therefore, I should have my lens no later than the 16th.

As of NOW, this review stands as positive. They do seem concerned of my problem and looks as though they are trying to help me out.

I WILL be holding this company accountable for the promise they made me, and if I do not receive it by the date Andy gave me, the review will be changed to a negative review.
IF I DO receive it by the promised date, I will further reccomend this company to ANYONE who wants a good deal but doesnt mind waiting a little while to get it.

I hope this helps future shoppers, and I will be editing this review on the 16th. So stay tuned to see if i get my lens!! :]

"Thunder cheats out of contract systematicly!

It is an intolerable fact that we entered into a contract on August 11th 2010 with Next Day Air Shipping. However they first claimed that Next Day Air Shipping was not available for this product. Why should this be? I assume this was part of the business practice, because they may have run out of stock for the camera I ordered. Later, after the period for Ground Shipping had passed I sent two inquiries regarding the status of my order. Unfortunately my requests were ignored at all. Due to that I called the so called customer service and was informed that the product was out of stock and had to be ordered in Europe which would take 2 weeks, but that I should receive the camera from this day in at latest 10 days. Finally I called yesterday to ask when I may expect the camera and I was told that my order had been cancelled on my request, although I never cancelled the order or at least received any information to my order.

It is astonishing that they still offer the Canon PowerShot SD780-IS while they claim that this camera is no longer available.

"I don't think they have the cheapest camera's out there. They have the cheapest camera body may be. But they have compulsory 10% shipping insurance. Wow I was not told about it. So shipping is not free. I got a call from Josh the next day and he told me that the camera does not include battery and battery charger. He was pushy and in that I accepted his offer. But then I called after 30 mins to cancel the order and he told me that I have to pay 10% cancellation charge. WTF? Another incident was when I asked for Josh, the guy who picked up the phone told me that Josh has not come to office and when I told him that I spoke to him 5 mins back he transferred the call. WOW!. My package did not have lens kit and screen protectors which was in the deal. The extra battery is not sealed and it looks used. DO NOT BUY FROM THUNDER CAMERA is what I would suggest as Amazon and other places have cheaper deals."

"Despite the confusion about the model being a U.S. model or an import, the purchase as a good value. I was disappointed to see that the accessories kit did not include an SD card. The original accessories kit ordered stated that it included one. A minor difference but it would have saved me about $ 15.00 and a trip to Best Buy.

The shipping service exceeded my expectations. You need to make your website easier to understand and easier to navigate, but the financial value is good enough for me to come back again.

"You will be tempted by their pricing, but do not do business with this company. They ship imported cameras that have no US warranty without advertising it on their website. They tell you that merchandise is in stock, then, after you buy it, tell you it is out of stock. When you order, they make you follow up with a phone call so they can try to sell you expensive accessories. Their staff is belligerent. Rather than deal with my complaints, they canceled my order over my objections.

UPDATED: Soon after posting this review, I received a call from Thunder Cameras, which had apparently received notice of its posting. The caller wanted to see what could be done to make me happy and have the review removed. He offered to sell me the item I originally sought for $60 less than what I had already purchased it (after my bad experience with his company) for at another merchant. He said he wanted to assure me that his company truly tried to take care of customers. However, my experience and that of other posters in this and other forums stands in stark contrast to his claims. I considered the offer but declined, believing that I did not want to do business with this company. UPDATED 9/12/10: As noted, I ordered the camera from another company and received it quickly with no hassles. The "goodwill gesture" promised by Thunder Cameras in the form of a memory card never arrived. No surprise there. As a result, I stick to my original post: avoid doing business with this company.
