"Thunder Cameras is a BIG Scam. I called inquiring about a Sony HD camcorder. The first question I asked was if it was in stock which they said they had this specific model in stock. Great!!! After I placed the order I recieved an email saying they needed me to contact them that they had a security issue that needed to be cleared up. When I called they asked for the 3 digit code on the back of the card which I gave to them. After that is when the scam started. They asked if I wanted to upgrade to a better battery for $99.99. I said no. They asked if I wanted a 90 day warranty for $49.99 I said no again. The rep started telling me how much I needed these items and that I should get these as I will need them. I told the rep I was working with a specific amount of money and really didn't want these upgrades. To my surprise when I went to check the status of the order, I found out it had been went from (Processing) to (Back Ordered).

It seems that if you don't upgrade to the items they want you to, your order will mysteriously become a back order item. It seems to me that if they feel you aren't spending enough money with them, they really would rather not deal with you. The Camcorder I wanted and that they had at first was a $549.99 to $699.99 camera anywhere else but they had it for $329.99 which was a really good price. They apparently thought it was a good price too. Maybe a little to good not to get the upgrades they offered. I found it rather insulting to tell me something was in stock and then have me call them back under the pretence of a security question in order to try and upsell me and when I refuse to be upsold, I'm told it's on backorder and could take 2 to 3 weeks. They know most people won't wait that long and will just cancel which is what they want. Why would they want to sell someone something at an almost wholesale price when they can get someone to buy upgrades and warranties at inflated prices like $49.99 for a 90 day warranty or a 2hr battery for $99.99 when Sony offers a year on parts and 90 days on labor. What a scam

I would suggest anyone who feels the price is a little to good not go to Thunder Cameras because if the price is too good they will expect you to buy more then what you really want or need.

Also after cancelling the order, I called around to a few other sites that had a similar price then Thunder Cameras. To my surprise, Sky Point Digital, more4lessdigital and thunder cameras all had their phones answered by the same person. If you go to whois.com, you'll see that the sites are all registered to the same company

It is not unknown that internet is filled with scammers, and every now and them someone falls prey to them.
I had my first experience today, and incident left me feeling stupid and extremely annoyed. Though I do not have any monetary loss, but left feeling as a child who is shown a fancy toy but not allowed to touch or play with it.
It all begin with my quest to buy a digital SLR. I have been postponing it for a long time, and now when I am virtually free of any work from the job paying me, I decided to put in some effort to make best use of the hard earned money :)
First few days went by looking for the perfect camera for myself. It involved bugging people whom I have not bugged for a while, to seek some knowledgeable advise, plus marathon reading of reviews available online (kudos to dpreview.com).
Finally after a week or so, I zeroed it down to Canon EOS Rebel T2i w/ 18-55mm IS Lens, a very high spec camera among entry level DSLRs. I fall in love with it at first sight, though the love was bloated with $800 price on amazon. Hence began the chase for my love, which is still on.
In my quest for love, I found two love-gurus in form of bing.com and google.com, and I begin the follow each and every advise (the sponsored links) they gave me in order to conquer my love.
In my journey I stumbled upon an offer [which now I feel was too good to be true :(] selling the body only for $350. I quickly searched for the remaining pieces (lens, battery and charger) and figured out that I could get the whole camera for $510, pretty impressive, eh! So, I quickly ordered all the pieces and bragged about it on facebook, too early huh! Anyways, unaware of what lurks behind the darkness of the night, I have a good night sleep, high on sense of achievement.
Next morning I woke up to call from the online merchant, who very plainly told me that the camera I have ordered is not available and they have no idea when they would have one. Baffled by the news, I frenetically searched for the deal again, and found 4 different merchants with the same offer, though all look unnaturally similar. I realize at that instance that I will not possess this camera at the price mentioned, but still as a drowning man catches a straw, I called all four merchants hoping before each call that I might get the deal, but alas all replied with the same answer, that the piece is no longer in stock. The last merchant go as far as suggesting me that I have called him two times before as well, asking for this deal. Then I realize that all these four merchants are actually incarnation of a central entity working as a scam.
Getting into error correction mode, I decided to cancel the other pieces that I have ordered, though was able to cancel lens only. Hence now I owe a canon battery and a charger, without any camera!
Before ending my post, I would like to mention the scam sites which I fall prey of, hoping that others do not have the same faith.

"It seems like the same story is being repeated over and over. I ordered a Nikon D90 bundled with a free lens and flash for an unbelievable price of 689. I placed the order in spite of the negative reviews received and unfortunately the guys giving the bad reviews were not unfortunate circumstances. I got a call once I placed the order and they asked for security code. They tried to sell some stuff but I decline and they didn't push me hard either. The next day I received an email saying that my order was out of stock and I will have to wait 1-2 weeks or I can cancel for no charge. After reading about the back order issues I decided to cancel and they very promptly canceled my order.

**Customer Service called after I posted this review and has promised to correct the issue. It shows that they care and I will redo my ratings once I am satisfied with their response.

01/11/2011 : Its been two weeks since I got the call customer service but nothing got resolved. Its starting to look like a gimmick.

02/25/2011 : Its been a few months now and these guys have disappeared into thin air. It is now clear that these guys are nothing but crooks.

"U people are the best, I got my Sony at the best price in the market, and I got a 3 years warranty at a very good price, the people there are very helpful and patient, they explained everything to me, I recommended thunder cameras to 2 of my friends who also had a very pleasant experience."

"Was looking on internet for a Canon Rebel T2i Digital camera with two different lens a 28-55 and a 55-250. Came across Thunder Cameras call and spoke to Andy he was a great help, he told me about a new lens that was a 28-300 zoom, now I don't have 2 worry about changing lens all the time. His help and friendly personality made my shopping very easy. Received my order very prompt and it was packed with great care. If I need to buy more photo eguipment it will be from Thunder Cameras. "

"I'm writing this because the company stole my almost $900. They don't answer on my emails, nothing...
the story is this: I ordered online Canon 50d camera with lens. They called me after 5 min and first asked me my 3 digit security code, after I told him my security code, the customer representative told me that this is import model and the US model is more expensive and tried to sell me Canon 500d and start advertise me that that one is the same but extra has a video recording function. For some reason I said ok. After compairing this cameras on internet I found the Canon 500d is much cheaper. I called them in 20 min after first call and tried to cancel Canon 500d and go back to Canon 50d. They gave even more expensive price, about $1200. I told them to cancel my order, the guy put on hold, the other guy told me this is a cancellation fee. They already sent the item by UPS. Unbeleivable... They send merchandises in 1 hour!!! So fast company!!! I told them it is impossible. So, they sent me Canopn 500d, after I refused receiving item and they received it back in 3 days. I got a confirmation and everything. They called me after that and after long conversation they told me this is a policy and they have to take 20% fee. So, I was so tired of them, I lose more than $200. They sent me email that my account was credited and I should wait and the refund will transfer to my account in 30 business days. But I have to remove all disputes from my credit card company. I did this and I got mail confirmation in my hand. It was November 2nd. Even after discounting all holidays and weekends I found that the refund should be no late than December 18. So, now December 22nd, I'm still waiting and sending them emails, but no answer. Probably have to collect all paperwork and go to attorney general or police, whatever works better.

"Well I received my Canon 5d from Thunder. It came without a warranty card and owner manual. The reason is because was not US model. They insisted it was. Canon says all camera are same. They said they may not warranty it if needs work. Thunder sent me a letter guaranteeing the warranty. Canon said very unlikely would not cover it. I actually got Josh from Thunder on with Canon. He was actually pretty good guy. They also sent me wrong Compact card. Do not buy bundle as everything other than real canon product was junk. Don't buy Sigma lens it is not a new hot lens as they claim. Only buy Canon product. I personally don't think I would use them again. Just would rather pay more money and not have this headache. Josh did credit me back $180 dollars for wrong cards. But after thinking about it I;m still upset I did not get warranty card or manual. I was specificaly suppose to receive US model. So I will fight through credit card company. If they don't step up and do right thing I will make the necessary calls to have things right for me and hopefull others. Josh seems to be somewhat responsible and hope does right thing.

"After I placed an order with this company I had some reservations about my order. I decided to voice my concerns and decided to write a letter about my shopping experience and posted it online. After posting my comments I received a call from a representative who was proactive in working towards a solution that would make me happy. He offered me three different options, all of which would work towards resolving my issues. I selected the one that worked best for me and after I had made my choice the rep informed me that he would also send a filter for the camera. We had already resolved my concerns and was not completely necessary. Nonetheless, it was a goodwill gesture which I appreciated and has made me rethink my opinion and shopping experience with this company. In short, the way things look right now; my view is that are trying to do the right thing for its customers."

"I tried to order a Nikon 70-300mm Lense online. I received a call stating that they have a better lense and for some reason said ok. After getting the order email and researching the lense that the person on the phone said was better, I tried to do some research on the lense. It appeared to be a $200 lense that I agreed to pay $399.00 for. I called up to confirm which lense they sold me and the person continued to say it was a PE lense. I asked for the manufacturers model number and could he give me the web page of the manufacturer that shows me the lense I am purchasing. He could not give me either. I told him I want to cancel the order and he said the order already shipped. I refused the package when it came. They called me and asked why I refused the package and I told them because they could not give me specifics on what they sold me. I called my Credit Card company to dispute the charge. After a few emails back and forth with ThunderCamera and me threatening filing a complaint with the NYS Attorney Generals office, I did receive my credit back on my card.

Although the person named Andy was professional, they could not give me details on what they sold me. Before I wrote this review, I wen back to there website and the original Nikon lense I originally wanted was $99.00. Throtugh normal distribution channels. the lense is a $589.00 lense that on sale sells for more than $400.00. ISo what are they actually selling, or in my case, I would expect a call stating that their is a better lense....

I am very aware of scams and bait and switch on the Internet, and this was the first time I felt was in the middle of it.

"So this is what happened. I was doing research on Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 Digital Camera and this company had the cheapest, almost too-good-to-be-true price for this camera so I placed an order right away. Next day, one of the customer service called me to see if I need extra items for that camera, so I said no. that was fine. So he re-confirmed my order and everything was fine but it was like 10 min. of talking.

The next day, I received an e-mail that said my item was backorder so I have to wait 1-2 weeks at most.
It was kind of weird to receive that kind of e-mail AFTER I talked to the customer service to confirm my order... couldn't they find out BEFORE they call me?? I mean we talked like 10 min. non stop.
anyways... ok 1-2 weeks, I can live with it. So I waited.
Close to 2 weeks passed, I e-mailed them to see if they have it in stock again, no reply.
3 weeks passed, I e-mailed them again to see if my order was shipped, because it's been too long! they said it will only take 1-2 weeks and it's been 3 weeks already! - NO REPLY.

So I gave up on my order and wanted to cancel the order online but didn't see any cancel button so I wrote them again to cancel my order. - NO REPLY

I'm sorry, did I do something??
why my order AND e-mails were completely ignored???
that is simply SO rude!!! I mean, is anybody working there?

I will not visit their site again...

"The Package was promised to be delivered to the hotel I would be staying at by Dec.3rd,2010 as I was arriving on Dec.4th,2010 and departing Dec.6th, 2010.It never arrived, I continually checked the front desk during my stay,it never arrived. I checked out "without" my package, "if" it arrives, the hotel will return it to sender. I am now back in my country without the goods. I spoke to the Service Dept. prior to my departure,they said they would credit my card when they received the package back, I was pro-active and called my C.C.company and they will be working on this as well.I don't see me using Thunder Camera again. Update... The package arrived the day "AFTER" I left, The hotel phoned to inform me that they had refused it and returned it to sender."
