Their prices are not the lowest available on identical merchandise when compared to another company, but they frequently carry merchandise that is unusual or difficult to find. I have not had any major problems with any purchases (always a risk when buying refurbished equipment from any reseller). "I was not too impressed with the order I placed with Surplus Computers recently. I ordered 2 Port Replicators, 1 for a Dell and 1 for an IBM. After 3 days of no updates on their website, I sent them an e-mail (the only way to contact them). I had to follow up with 2 additional e-mails each day until I finally received a reply back. Although the IBM Port Replicator showed 'in stock' it appears that they were not. Although I checked the option to 'I want my items faster. Ship items as they become available', the whole order was on hold, pending getting the IBM replicator in stock. I replied to the e-mail that I would like the Dell Port Replicator shipped separately, and I would place a separate order for the IBM Port Replicator when it is available. I'm glad I did because it has been over 6 weeks and they still have not had any IBM port replicators in stock. I potentially could have waited 7 weeks to receive the Dell Port Replicator. So it took about 5 days (total of about 2 weeks since I originally placed the order) to receive it. The Dell Port Replicator worked great, but it was dirty. Yes, there was mud all over it! Luckily it functioned properly. "
"I have been a generally happy customer for around 5 years or more. The company used to offer surplus at incredibly low prices, albeit with offputting disproportionally-high shipping costs that could only be compensated for by ordering multiple, heavy or high-value items.
There used to be many bargains in reasonably-priced small items with free shipping but, these disappeared when the company's assets were acquired by ECS Refining "one of the largest E-waste recycling businesses." ( I don't like the idea of buying what might be "e-waste" when I think I'm buying new SURPLUS.) That they are once again offering, in their email ads, some low-priced items with free shipping is a good sign and, several orders of such I have placed have arrived quickly and correctly. Sadly, some of these items will show up at different prices & with postage once one reaches their Web page due to, I suspect, some disconnect within their ad department.
ECS was unresponsive to emails regarding suggestions as to these prices v. shipping charges and to inquiries about re-stocking products, that were obviously fresh Chinese manufacture and not surplus, that they used to carry. There were such items, no longer offered, that I now wish I'd bought or, bought more of at the time. Why didn't I? SHIPPING COSTS! I was waiting until I could afford to place a large enough order to make shipping worthwhile when they discontinued those products.
Apart from the lack of communication and postage issues, the only specific complaint I have is against an ad for memory that did not emphasize that ECC SIMMS are for servers and would not work in consumer-grade PCs. My fault for not knowing, I guess but, I would have appreciated the disclosure. Did not even try to send them back as, shipping would be at my expense and, I figure I can sell them on ebaY to make up for their cost & initial postage. I now fear what their Customer Service Department's response would have been, given the other reviews.
I am amazed at the number of negative reviews here and the BBB rating of "F" and find that they will negatively-influence any large purchases made hereafter but, hope that their outreach through this review process is an indication that they may want to get back on the straight and narrow with their customers."

"I've always been happy with Surplus Computers. The first time I found their web site through google products, and I've gone back several times since then. Anytime somebody asks me where they can get a good basic computer at a great price, Surplus Computers is the first place I check in on.
In fact, any time I'm looking for good used equipment at a great price, I check surplus computers and then eBay. Often SC will have what I'm looking for at a price lower then I will ususally find it for on eBay (buy it now prices, of course... auction prices are too variable to make that claim.)
On a scale from 1-10 on shipping reliability, I'd give them a 10. NEVER once a problem. I haven't even had to call them for any issues what so ever...

"I've been a regular buyer from Surplus Computers since 2006. For basic and add-on components like disk drives, USB devices, and cards, they have an interesting selection good value for money. Lately I bought bluetooth stuff (mouse, headphones) and they were great. Back in 2006-2007, I bought some used workstation computers for my business, and that worked well also.
Only once did I had a problem with a DOA device, and they provided a prompt refund. Good guys!"
