"I ordered ram for a ga-7vkml motherboard. I needed pc1600 or pc2100. I talked to their tech rep and didn't get his name. His English was abominable and I asked him more than one time if this RAM would work and he assured me it would. It didn't work and I called them back and they said that ECC Registered RAM is not approved for this board. Why did they say it would. Fortunately I raised an issue with the card issuer and will get some justice through the card company. I had to pay to ship back the ram and take a 25 percent restocking fee also. I could have went to Fry's electronics and purchased it for a lot less hassle. "
"Ordered P4 that wouldn't work, RMA'd it, Harrish replied that it was incompatibe with my motherboard and worked with me for a couploe of weeks, finally shipping an upgraded processor for the difference. They were vry patient with me. Excellent service; highly recommended."
"Found via PriceWatch, good deal on RDRAM, since I still have a mobo that uses it I decided to upgrade it to 512. Couldn't find anything comparable at other stores that I regularly use. StarMicro came through without any problems at all, arrived in about 3-4days. Worked in my system with no problem. I will continue to look at them for other parts."
"These people are criminals, period. No amount of saved money is worth what you have to go through when dealing with them.
I ordered 10 pieces of PC2100 registered ECC memory with Lifetime Warranty, as found on pricewatch.com. The first shipment they sent me was PC133 memory, which went back.
Several weeks later I got another package. Memory packing was absolutely horrible- all they did was put each in static bags, put a rubber band around them, and put them in a FedEx envelope. And then I opened the bags up. The modules were still wet with citrus degreaser where the labels from each module had obviously been removed. The package contained about 8 different types of memory. Anyone who knows anything about memory will tell you that you HAVE to used matched pairs with registered ECC memory. So, a bunch of it went back.
TWO MONTHS after the initial order I finally had usable memory. Then, I requested documentation of the warranty, and they told me there's no warranty at all! I have the printout from pricewatch that says LIFETIME WARRANTY.
I don't know how these people sleep at night."
"I ordered 1 PC100 SO-DIMM on august 19th with free standard postal shipping, and received it about 1 week later. This was perfectly acceptable for that form of shipping, and honestly I expected them to drag their feet or call to try to upsell me as I only paid $11.00 for the item. I would definately consider doing business with them again."
"I ordered PC66 SDRAM. Instead, I receive notebook memory. I contacted them to resolve issue. They did not offer any expedited shipping to make good on their mistake. BAD customer service. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! Don't waste your time and money."
"Very Bad people. Called for a RMA on Dell RAM that doesn't work on an Itel box, told me to call back. When I called back they wouldn't talk to me and sent me to the website for getting a RMA. Took them 5 days to get back, and they wouldn't give me a RMA. The guy's name is Harish Sharma. "
"Bad site. Ordered Pentium 200 classic CPU and they shipped me the MXX version. When I called I recieved poor customer service which is always a no, no. Also, CPU was prices as "NEW" when I bought it, it was obvious it was used once I recieved it. Lost all my business now and in the future."
"Ordered a NEW Athlon 1.2 CPU. Received a USED one. (grease residue and pins that were obviously used before) Requested an RMA on 7/12/04. Will see what happens. Be wary of them sending USED products as NEW."
"Placed order for two cpu's and two sticks of ram on 06.21.04 and received the complete order on 06.28.04
in perfect order, on problems. I would buy from Star Micro again."
"They shipped quickly, the first RAM chip I received was defected so I contacted them and RMAed it. They were fast to respond and sent me a new RAM chip quickly which worked great in my laptop! Good service and product."
"I ordered an old celeron and what I thought to be a low-end cooler master heatsink. I got the CPU but they subed a no-name cheapo heatsink instead. Since the whole order was cheap I am writing it off, but I will not shop there again.
The order was sent out in a few days but I did not get an email saying it was shiped. I think I was lucky to get the CPU.
I talked to them and they insist that the I got is better than the picture. Bull...just by cpu's from these guys, they cannot short change you on those. "
"Well, its been 10 days since I ordered a Celeron 1400, and nothing yet. So I called them and found that they're "out of stock." I asked them why they bill credit cards before checking stock and he gave me some lame excuse about some local vendoring delivering 1300's by accident.... NOT MY PROBLEM. Due to this processor being difficult to find I ordered from StarMicro hoping it would be ok, damn good I used a real credit card instead of my check card. Since I can only find one other vendor right now with the cpu for sale (with an even worse rating) I'm going to let my order stand for a few days to see if they get their act together..... will update"
"Ordered an older P3 500Mhz CPU with heatsink/fan combo for a good price. Order went out same day, recieved 3 business days later. Only complaint is lack of email notification that order had shipped."
"Contrary to many of the ratings posted here, S.P. from Star Micro saved my butt. I called late on a Tuesday afternoon deperately needing four Intel 2.8GHz 800MHz FSB CPUs be sent priority overnight. Even though it was past most vendor's FedEx cutoff time, they shipped, I got a confirming email and the next day the CPUs showed up, as advertised, well-packed and ready to install. They functioned perfectly."
