"On 8/8, I purchased a pair of 1 GB PC2700 DDR sticks from a PCProgress eBay auction. While the item did arrive in a reasonable amount of time, the computer would not start with either one or both sticks installed.

I contacted them via eBay message and while they would accept a return, they persist in demanding a restocking fee. When I asked how they could charge a restocking fee on a defective item, they persist in saying that it's just incompatible. How they would know this without having any of my system information is beyond me. I explained to them that my motherboard is supposed to support the memory in question, but they are completely unwilling to budge.

I'm really wishing I had read the reviews here first, but I got sucked in by the cheap price. Lesson learned, I guess. My advice is to stay away from PCProgress.com and their other companies (Spartantech.com).

"I own an electronic repair shop and had thought I had found a good source for older IDE drives that are used in a lot of the equipment I repair here at the shop. I knew the drives that I would be receiving were pull outs, but supposedly unused. Everything went fine until I received a drive that was very obviously defective before it was even shipped. How do I know this? It is simple the pins on the IDE connector were bent, one pin was broken off and, the end of the connector housing was broken and had a piece missing. Had this damage happened during shipping there would have been broken pieces with the drive in the sealed static bag. There were not.
When I called them about the problem. I was told I had to return the drive in order to receive a replacement, and the maximum they would reimburse for shipping and my time would be 6.00.
I told them .. look guys I am business and this is a 29.00 drive. I will send you pictures of the damage if you need me to, but shipping it to you is not very practical … between my time @ 87.50 per hour and ups charges it will easily cost me two to three times what I paid you for the drive to return it. How about you just stick another one in the mail and we call it good … No soap. Then when I ask for a supervisor I start getting attitude from the guy. So the supervisor gets on the phone I explain the situation again, and he starts swearing at me and reading me out because I want them to bend their policy to accommodate me for their screw up! Finally told him fine just ship me out a new drive, charge me for it, and I will just eat the 29.00 I have paid for the damaged one …. Then he refuses to do even that as he is a total ass. I then told him in that case I would do my best to let people know about my bad experience with him and his company …. he said and I quote “ Oooh I am shaking in my boots ”
After reading the other reviews I have found on this business it sounds like they would be stiffing me anyway even if I did spend all the time and expense to ship it back. So I am instead using my time to try to warn other potential victims about this unprofessional and dishonest organization.

"Just a word to the wise, DO NOT ORDER unless you want hassle and not get full refund. I had the same experience as most reviews on here. Worst costumer service. I ordered stick of ram, said was compatible, Not. Spent 43.00, finally got back 28.00 refund credit. Took 2 1/2 mos to do."

"Ordered 2 GIG RAM kit. Was not advertised as ECC registered, but that is what was shipped. Asked for RMA, and wanted replacement with low density RAM. Shipped it back, and they said they never received it. I might as well have just handed them $44 for nothing. It would have saved everyone a lot of time."

"Ordered a set of ram was shipped in a timely fashion turned out to be the wrong kind for me. I requested an RMA #. They were fine with the return and I immediately shipped it back with return tracking. A week went by and even after it was confirmed delivered, I still heard nothing from them. I finally contacted them days after they received the return to check the status. They told me it hasn't been processed. Another week goes by and I finally get an email telling me my refund is being processed. Yet another week goes by and no refund and no communication from PC Progress. I contacted them again and I was informed that they mistakenly given me store credit instead. They then issued me a refund a few days late which was $9 less than what I paid. They did note that returns could be subject to a $9 restocking fee. I contacted them about it and they told me just that along with the "free" shipping. Free shipping? I paid return shipping and when I bought from them it was free shipping. Regardless of there subject to charges, any company that lacks so much in customer service skills and organized returns, any smart company could see past the $9 charge to help out a customer that has waited a good 3 weeks just for a return. NEVER BUY FROM THEM! Their communication is terrible, they're not organized and easily lose track of things and when it's all send and done, they still take what money they can from you. They may have cheaper products but it's not worth it at all."

"Ordered 2 x 1Gbyte ddr2 sodimm with free shipping. Received email for tracking on second day after order. Received package on fourth day by USPS in excellent shape. Packaged in cardboard box 6" x 2" x 2", with pink bubble wrap, tightly and immobile with yellow warning labels for static and invoice contained. Great packaging job. Installed in my computer, using anti-static precautions, after verifying memory was correct, and did memory test for verification. All went well, would buy from again."

"Purchased a set of what their website identified as ""512MB MEMORY 800MHZ 40NS512MB ECC RAMBUS RIMM". When the order arrived I saw (from manufacturer's sticker) that the parts were non-ECC. Though I initially assumed that pcprogress,com had received the bad identifications from a supplier, an employee confirmed that it was they (pcprogress.com) who had mislabeled the memory.

"This company has horrible customer service! The website said that the motherboard was in stock, and after ordering I did receive a confirmation e-mail. Ten days later I still had not received the motherboard, so I called. The customer service rep told me that they were expecting another shipment from overseas in about a week and would send my order out then. It would have been nice if they had sent me an e-mail saying the motherboard was backordered. I decided to cancel and order from another company. It's been eight days and they still haven't returned my money.

I would avoid this company at all cost! "I ordered 3- 1GB sticks of ECC RAM. I was pleased with how quickly they came. When installed, the RAM didn't work. I called to ask if it might be a problem on my end, BIOS settings, etc. I received an RMA and they were received back on Sept 17th. I had not received the replacement RAM by Sep 25th. I called them to inquire why. They stated that they hadn't even tested the old RAM or sent the replacement. I was TOLD that they would ship out the new RAM that day, the 25th and the tech told me that he'd send 4 sticks of RAM for my inconvenience. The replacement RAM wasn't even shipped until the 30th. All they did was make excuses as to why they didn't follow through as I had been told they would. I received the replacement RAM, only 3 sticks vs the 4 I was told I would recieve and it's functioning. All in all, the order process was OK, but the RMA process was a little problematic, mainly because they were not forthcoming about any shipping delays. They sell a LOT of "pulled" parts, so, one takes their chances with those. All in all, I paid approx $60 for 3-1GB sticks of used RAM with the original price and return postage. I might consider doing business with them in the future, but they're not exactly my favorite vendor through Pricewatch at the moment. "

"A few weeks ago i ordered a processor from their site. Not even now, has my order been shipped out. I contacted their customer support once, and the person told me that their was an error in the order, and that it would then be shipped out very very soon. A few days later, no shipment confirmation ( the man said i would get one once it shipped), i called them again. This time, the man told me that their had been a stock issue, and that it would be shipped, and i would recieve my order by the end of that week. Now it is the sunday after the week i should have received my order, and it hasnt even been shipped out yet. I give this company a 0 out of 5 stars. If i were you i wouldnt order from this company every, unless you wanted your order lost and then have the company make no effort to fix or even notify you about the issue."

"At the time of order they had seven items in stock, yet when I inquired over a week later they informed me my item was on backorder. It took two full days to get a reply from customer service. Then they had informed me that they will receive it tomorrow and promptly ship it out.
After two full weeks still was waiting on shipment confirmation, emailed them again. That is when they informed me they do not ship to P.O. Boxes. Website did not indicate they did not ship to P.O. Boxes. If it did was not clearly indicated because I look for such stipulations.
So I asked for a refund of my money and cancellation of my order, still am waiting on reply and my money. It has been 16 days since my order and this review.

"I needed a quick replacement for my blown motherboard. It’s hard to find, but I found one in stock at PC Progress at a decent price so I purchased one (with glee) with express shipping. I got an email right away confirming my order and it said to wait a day or two for shipping confirmation. Ah, I thought, all is well. I waited a week and a half. Nothing. So I emailed them asking for the order status. Still nothing. A faint disquiet in my soul rose to a sickening alarm. So I searched out their number and gave them a call:

Cust service: “What? What do you want? [I have better things to do right now.]”
Me: “My order number is […]. I need this right away, so when are you going to ship it?”
Cust service: “Uh… We don’t have *any* and we have *no idea* if or when we’ll get some more.”
Me: “WWHHAT? Your website says that it’s in stock! I need it right now, that’s why I ordered it from you! Why does your site say you *have* some when you *don’t*??”
Cust service: “Uh…. We ordered 30, but only got 20.” (As if that explains anything)
Me: “But you already *charged* my card! All decent retailers charge the card when they *fill* the order! So, why did *you* charge my card if you don’t have it in stock??”
Cust service: “We charge your card when you order.” (Gosh, thanks professor. I figured that out already)
Me: “Why did I have to *call* for you to *tell* me that you didn’t have any??”
Cust service: “Uh…. [Cuz I don’t give a damn, now let me get back to my game]”
Me: “Sh*t. Cancel my order and *refund* my money right away please.”
Cust service: “Um… yea, okay.” [click]

*One month later* I still don’t have my money back, so I sent them an email. No response. My alarm grew and turned my face red. So I *find* *their* *number* and *call* them again and I get the same engaged professor on the phone (they must have one teenager covering the whole customer [dis]service department):

Teen: “What?”
Me: “Look, I cancelled my order a *month* ago! Why haven’t you *refunded* *my* *money* *yet*?”
Teen: “Um… I’ll put a request in today to refund your money.”
Me: “Yea, you do that.”
Teen: [click]

So I eventually got my money back from PC Regress, and purchased a different mobo from a reputable merchant that doesn’t play games (Newegg). Don’t waste your time with these donkeys. Stick with the big boys.
