"The many orders I have placed with OP have all gone well, received as ordered, good service, etc. No complaints. However, I have complained about the online descriptions of various products--actually the majority of their online catalog.

Most are written seemingly without apparent knowledge of the product, without key descriptive or comparative points. The bulk of the 'description' usually is generic, random crap that is not worth reading or has nothing to do with the item.

At times, I have gone to Midway just to read the description of the item, with key data, that was omitted in the OP description. Other times, the information between 2 items by the same maker is presented so poorly that comparisons are not possible.

If I could edit OP's product descriptions, I'd lose about 75% of the useless garbage.

"I have not mounted my scope just yet. This review is for the selection, ordering & delivery experience with Optics Planet.
I've been using Optics planet for over 6 years give or take. Each item I reviewed and ordered arrived with no issues, expert packaging, with zero damage. I will continue to use Optics planet for future sporting good purchases.

"I recently purchased a pair of Steiner 8x42 Predator Binoculars, Black #2443 for an upcoming CruiseTour. The folks on the online chat forum were very helpful in assisting in determining the best binocular in the price range i was interest in spending (approximately $500). One item that was a little bothersome was that the pair of binoculars I purchased only had 1 pair in stock (and I was urged that if I wanted them to react quickly - which I did).... upon arrival it turned out that they had been opened and returned as the packaging was in disarray. Called customer service and was told that they were no longer in stock, would have to return them, wait approx 10 days for my credit card to clear and then reorder. Return process needs to be more streamlined and returned products should NOT BE sold as new!! In addition, I was charged a $65.00 shipping fee for a two day delivery - seems a bit much!!

Further, their retail price for the binoculars at the time of my purchase was $380 and when I checked the website a day later, found that the binoculars were then advertised at $270. Had I not checked the website, I would have been overcharged for this price reduction.

Honestly can't wait to see if OP responds to this review as my oversight of their previous responses all seem to be "canned" chatter all saying nothing!!

"I had ordered a rubber scope cover, black colored. When the item arrived it was dark earth color. I have the order summary showing I had ordered it in black. The company rep. I spoke with said I must have ordered it in dark earth because that's what was sent,and said I faked their sales receipt to show that I ordered it in black. I wasn't asking for a refund I just wanted them to swap it for the cost of shipping. They said it was my fault and was very rude about refusing to pay for shipping. I had spent thousands of dollars with their company and for them to treat me like a lair is insulting. I have payed more at other sites for the same item instead or giving them my business again, and have told others about my experience. "

"My girlfriend saved for months and ordered me a Bushnell Fastfire III red dot sight and mount for Christmas. Upon opening it Christmas morning, I put the battery in and found that the dot was very distorted and the sight was obviously defective. I returned it (with mount....which was the wrong one for my application) to Optics Planet within a week, and about a week later, I received an email saying that they could not accept my return because the sight was "obviously used" and "had been tested by user", and had been "marked on with a Sharpie". I assumed this reply was simply a mistake, and called their customer service immediately. They said the guy handling my return(Chris) was on lunch, and would call me back the same day. After waiting about two days with no call, I called again and was told that Chris no longer worked for Optics Planet. I explained that Chris must have mixed up my return with someone else's, because I had only turned the sight on once on Christmas morning, found it defective, and put it back in the box for return. I asked them to note that it could not have been used and tested, as the mount had not even been opened! They said they would investigate and get back to me. About 3 days later I received an email saying there was nothing more they could do, and that I was being charged a "restocking fee" that amounted to $75 on this $238 sight! I called again and asked to speak with someone, as this was just simply not fair. I never got a call, and my girlfriend is out $75 that she can't really afford to lose. I will never again trust Optics Planet. Shame on them for this kind of shady service.

UPDATE AFTER OPTICS PLANET RESPONSE BELOW:

As it turns out, OP did in fact refund my girlfriend the amount they mention in their response. This is NOT however, the amount they originally emailed they would refund. I was led to believe the refunded amount would be less in their original communications. HOWEVER.....and this is still the basis of this whole costly mess....OP still refuses to acknowledge that the sight they sent me was DEFECTIVE! I own several red dot sights, and I know how they are supposed to operate. The unit I received had a red "dot" so fuzzy and splattered, that it covered most of the viewing area of the sight. Despite my repeated emails mentioning this fact, OP never once responded to my fundamental reason for returning the sight! This fact, combined with the fact that the person originally handling my return apparently quit or was fired during my inquiries, AND their claim that the sight I returned had been "marked on with a Sharpie" (WTF?), lead me to believe that my return was bungled and mistaken for someone else's. End result? Some unsuspecting OP customer is probably going to receive a defective "restocked" sight, and I'm going to make it a hobby to tell everyone I know within my shooting, hunting, and outdoor community about my OP experience. They blew it, didn't do their due diligence, and I'm out money.
