"Many moons ago, when the hubster and I first gave up grains and went extremely low-carb, my wonderful Bro and SIL started gifting us an Omaha prime rib roast every year for Xmas. It was a thing of beauty. Granted, the hubby would dry-age it for a few days in fridge with his special dry rub, but it always tasted great! We would have it as our Xmas dinner with my mother (only local family member) and then have one full-on dinner redux for just the two of us with enough left to make several blue cheese steak salads.

In recent years the roast seemed to get smaller and smaller. We'd get barely 5 adult servings out of the roast which used to feed 7-9. Also, it just didn't taste as good, no matter what hubby did to it. Last Xmas Bro and SIL sent us a variety pack containing steaks, chicken, pork, some carb stuff we re-gifted, and the tiniest burgers we ever saw. All the meat was awful. I was told the potatoes and the apple desserts were good, but meat is all that matters if you're ordering from Omaha.

I was concerned about telling Bro and SIL how bad Omaha had gotten, but hubby had a better idea. He sent a box of steaks to Bro for his birthday. We got a thank you note indicating that we should have told them sooner how bad Omaha had gotten. With a smiley face, so it was cool. Bottom line, just avoid Omaha Steaks."

"I have ordered from Omaha for years. I have read the negative reviews. When you get a gift card or an ad no matter the price it is honored. That being said like any business they want you to order more but you don’t have to. It’s not a scam, it’s business. Plus you have to completely read whichever you have. Each one is very specific on what you can get at that price. Ads have a list you can choose from or it gives you exactly what you can order. Gift cards can be difficult even after reading. So let’s look at a gift card. Gift cards can be $5-$500. Let’s say you have $10 gift card. It’s not going to get you much. It will get you a bottle of Omaha seasoning $5.49 plus tax. That’s it’s unfortunate sometimes some shipping is on you because you only had $10. You can’t blame Omaha for running a business. You need to talk to the person who gave you the gift card. Also if you want to use all $10 you can get 2 seasonings and pay the 0.98 plus tax and shipping. They’re not scamming you but they will try to sell you more. As for phone calls you can op out of them and emails to by phone or online. Omaha stores I don’t know anything about. I can’t speak for store quality. One review talked about cooking instructions. Cooking instructions have always been on the box. They are clear and easy to read only with nutritional facts. Food comes in portion sizes that are recommended by nutritionist. They are not small but recommend portion. Good for everyone weather they need to lose weight or not. Delivery does vary at no fault of Omaha. I think we all know how mail delivery and other deliveries are. I too have had mine delivered to early, to late, or on time. If you want it a certain time do overnight and much sure you have room in your freezer. Gifts are great done a few. Know that Omaha is a meat company not Hallmark. No special wrapping or frills. Customer service can be a pain in the ****. I have learned if I need to call them and get a rude person hang up. Then call back and most times get a helpful person. Sometimes it takes awhile but they do answer. They do read reviews and answer complaints. Sometimes it takes awhile but they do answer. Like an business they have a certain day to cut refund checks but most other things happen in fifteen to thirty days. Lastly explaining Omaha sales sometimes that you have buy so much at current price to get a price for an item. Example they have a 50% sale potatoes 21.99 alone but buy any other item and get it for 10.99. Everything
is self explanatory if you read. Also sometimes package deals are more expensive than buying the items individual. You just again have to read. I would also suggest getting the Omaha rewards. It pays for itself. Actually it pays normally the first time. Omaha is like any other business you like them or you hate them. "

"The commercials show nice thick steaks. In the box you will not find one that even resembles the one on TV. They are small, thin and tough. The hamburger is the only thing that had good flavor. In particular NY strip steak. I received a bonus at work and decided to try. I live in a suburban area of San Francisco with COMPLETE access to fabulous NY steak. However I decided for convenience sake to have NY steak flash frozen available at any time and ordered from Omaha. Despite meeting the expensive minimum for FREE SHIPPING I found these “marginal” steaks to price out at $30.00 a pound. BUYERS BEWARE: Breakdown your steak costs BY THE OUNCE and multiply by 16. When you do the result is alarming. As to the steak itself—the NY bone in had a “bone” less than two inches and the steak itself was reed thin. Tasty: Yes. Tender: Yes. , but at $30.00 a pound. I’m thinking Omaha might be an option for rural areas where there are not adequate butcher options. You have to order in VOLUME to even get the price to $30.00 a pound. They offer “variety” packs of different cuts and other meats and perhaps that is more attractive. As a single household person I can’t accommodate meats I don’t want so I’m focusing on one cut of beef. Moving forward…they Market you to extreme with emails and texts. But BEWARE, their FRONTLINE OFFER is only good for a limited quantity. Example: Four “Bistro” steaks for $19.99. But if you order 8 they’re $69.99. Deceiving. I will give them credit for of all things their fish. FISH nearly anywhere is expensive. I e ordered their Halibut—very expensive and Cod—reasonably priced. EXCELLENT quality, no complaints with the exception that you need to order in VOLUME to receive a decent price. At the end of the day, I finally succumbed to seeing their massive marketing. I have tried now on four occasions. I thought having flash frozen food at my immediate disposal would be fun and convenient. However, I can get MUCH BETTER-FOR MUCH LESS MONEY, if I just get off the couch, get in the car and see my local butcher. VERDICT: OMAHA STEAKS:

"I had made one order to Omaha Steaks. The order was late, had no ice in the cooler and stuff was defrosting. A few things already looked bad, so I called and told them. I offered to send it all back but they credited me. I wasn't stupid enough to eat any of it. But when I order frozen food or food of any type I expect there to be ice keeping it cold and frozen and it was not the case. Now months later I thought I'd try one more time and they blacklisted me, FOR THERE SCREW UP! Not the kind of company you want to do business with. Thank God I didn't eat any of it because if we had gotten sick they would have denied being responsible. Bad News!! Try another vendor, this one does not stand behind anything."

"Every year, my husband's employer passes out Omaha steak boxes. Every year, I toss half of it in the trash. If you get 4 steaks, two will be good and two will be sub par. Four piece chicken breast is not 4 chkn breast. It's a third of a breast. Same held true, two we ate and two went to the trash. Couldn't even chew it. We wondered what part of the chicken it came from. "

Consistent delivery problems (which go far beyond FedEx problems) are inexcusable and for which their customer service takes no ownership - just excuses. "We got a big variety pack (filets, a roast, chicken, hamburgers, franks, potatoes, apple tarts) as a Christmas gift for my father for what we thought was a great deal. Turns out it was too good to be true. The filets are maybe an inch and a half thick and flavorless (same with the burgers). Chicken is rubbery (also flavorless). Everything was disappointing. Save your money and buy from a local grocery store. I'll be leaving 1-star reviews on every review site I can find. Total scam. Do not buy."
