"Purchased 1 GB of Kingston memory (2x512 MB kit). The RAM was VERY POORLY packaged; Most RAM kits come in a hard plastic package from the original manufacturer - this set was simply put in a small plastic baggie. I had no way of knowing if they actually belonged together as a kit. This small plastic baggie was then wrapped once with bubble wrap, then the bundle was put in a small Fedex box (the small Fedex boxes are thin and rectangular). Somehow, the box had been folded or bent, and as a result, both sticks of RAM were also bent and unusable. I immediately filed a damage claim with Fedex, and called Memorylabs the next day to ask them to do the same. Resolving the damage claim with Fedex and Memorylabs was a NIGHTMARE, and took more than a month. Thankfully, I received a full refund (minus shipping), though I feel that if they had wanted to, Memorylabs could have only refunded the $100 damage claim that Fedex automatically insures items with. With a purchase price of $216.50, getting only $100 refunded for damaged goods caused by poor packaging would have made me go ballistic."

"I ordered OEM PRIVATE LABEL-Western Digital 200GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive, Model WD2000BB, and I got exactly what I ordered.

I used the free shipping (Free Airborne), and it ended up being FedEx but still free.

The tracking number for the shipment came about 1 business day after I ordered. In total, I received the hard drive 1 week after ordering it. This is about average to a day longer than most shipments I receive (including those from merchants with very good ratings).

The package was adequately padded, and the hard drive works. Although, they don't include anything with the package other than what you order. No manual or invoice (except for email).

"Awful customer service. Did ship a defective hard drive, therefore I shipped back to vendor.
Vendor takes forever to process the refund. Spoke on the phone with them , promised to refund by end of last week, 6 more days passed and still notheing happens.
Will not buy from them again.

"I ordered the, "tripper", a compact flash card reader with a hard drive. The service this company gave me was top notch. I received a email of my order conformation within 10 minutes and my order was shipped the next day fedex. I received it, within 3 days, one day earlier then fedex had said. "The site is poorly setup, and not as easy to navigate as many e-tailers out there. Their service was ok, shipping was fairly quick. I recieved my product via Fedex within a week of ordering. "The site looked suspicious, but the price was great(with the free shipping) and they were listed on pricewatch, so I decided to go through with the order. I checked reseller ratings and was scared to death, but only 2 days later fedex had it in the mail. It took six days to arrive, but i expected that much from the free shipping. I recieved them in a fedex envelope on the day of delivery and am very satisfied. I highly recommend."

"Tried to order their generic hd that was advertised for 80 free shipping. but after going to their website, it is 83.98! why would someone advertise something for less then tack on extra fee? Not to mention only 180 days warranty, believe that's all it good for, want more warranty? 5.99 more! avoid them, don't get scammed! There are better deals then this sooner or later, and I'm not desperate for low quality generic hd that has no names.

"After reviewing the ratings here I cautiously made my first purchase.

12 Mar. I ordered A TOSHIBA MK4019GAX 2.5" NB HDD 40 GB ATA100 5400RPM 16MB BUFFER ATA-5 INTERFACE BARE DRIVE - $105 with free shipping

20 Mar. I was pleasantly suprised to find they had sent me the newer ATA-6 model MK4026 - now installed and running smooth.

Some folks seem to want everything yesterday, want to pay rock-bottom prices and still expect perfection in every way.

Well to me, MemLabs definitely has the pricing right. Shipping on my order was free and was delivered within a week.

I will agree, to some extent, their ordering/status/ information definitely needs improvement.

I can only say that everyone should take some of these ratings with a grain of salt. Test all new suppliers with small purchases first.

They exceeded my expectations and I will order from them again!

"I avide this company like a plage as when I ordered a motherboard from them for my system I did not recive any notifacation that it was not in stock nor did they bother to notify me of that issue and after not reciving it i emailed them for the fedex tracking number they simply said sorry it on back order which is not aceptable after 4 days of me thinking it was shiped so i never order from such and uncaring disorginized company again"

"I ordered 100 Optodisc DVD-R discs. I have ordered them many times from other companies with no problems. They are blue and white, with the label "Optodisc." The memorylabs.com website even shows a picture of these blue and white discs, which is what I ordered.

I received 100 DVD-R discs. They were gold colored. There was no "Optodisc" label. They were labelled "for General Use."

I contacted memorylabs by email, asking why they sent me generic media instead of the brand name I ordered. After a few days I received email from them explaining to me that although the discs are not what I ordered, they are manufactured by optodisc and they gave me the phone number to contact optodisc to verify this.

I contacted optodisc and they confirmed that they do make an unlabelled gold DVD-R disc.

My issues with memorylabs:
1. If a customer orders product X, do not just send product Y with no explanation.
2. I would have liked an email telling me why they wanted to do the substitution (out of stock, no longer carrying item, item on backorder for months, whatever).
3. I would like to know if product Y is the same or different quality/price as the product I ordered, and asking me if it would be ok to send product Y or if I wanted to cancel the order.

When money is tight, I buy the less expensive "store brand" of corn flakes. I know that the store did not manufacture the corn flakes. Chances are that Kelloggs or Post or General Mills made the corn flakes using a "store brand" recipe that is slightly different from the recipe they use for their own corn flakes. The store brands never taste quite as good as the brand names, but to make up for it they are cheaper.

Are these gold unlabelled Optodiscs the same quality as the ones Optodisc puts their name on? Does memorylabs pay less for the gold discs and by charging me the price for the branded disc they increase their profit margin? Did I just pay for Kelloggs Corn Flakes and receive the Safeway store brand corn flakes?

When we, as consumers, see a picture of an item on a web site and order this item, I do not think it unreasonable that we expect to receive what we ordered. If a company cannot deliver what they advertise due to out of tock/backorder problems, they should have the common courtesy to let us know. It is not our fault they are poor managers of their stock and ran out. If a company no longer sells an item, they should remove it from their website. If they are selling gold unlabelled DVD-R discs, they should have a picture of these discs on the website and not the optodisc labelled blue and white disc.

"Ordered two WD HDDs from these guys - shipping was blisteringly fast. Only grip I could come up with was maybe better labeling - I ordered on with an 8MB buffer (for me) and one with a 2MB buffer for a customer. Had to look them up to remember which model was which. Ok, that's a really tick-tack complaint.

Overall, the items were packaged safely, they arrived very quickly, and I'm happy with the results.
