"This was purchase for one of our Geek Squad customers. We ordered one toshiba 40GB ZIF micro drive. Product came promply and on time. This has also been the cheapest rate for this drive that we have found."
"I have actually ordered from them before with satisfactory results - but the results of my last purchase from them was far from satisfactory. They are located at 1580 Oakland Road, Suite C113, San Jose, California 95131. By road travel distance, they are only 25.79 miles away from my home.
The nature of the problem is outrageous shipping charges, to a level I consider to be obvious purposeful gouging.
I ordered two Hitachi 0A31004 500GB SATA II 7200 RPM 16MB cache hard drives and one PM-525C-PTS 5.25" USB/firewire extenal drive enclosure. The order was sent on 11/10/2005.
Shipping was to be by Federal Express Ground.
I misread the shipping charges before clicking the button to send the order. I read it as seven dollars and eighty something cents (which was in the expected range).
I got charged $78.14
for shipping a package declared as two pounds
a distance of 25.79 miles by road.
The order total was $804.96 for the items, $66.41 in sales tax and $78.14 for shipping bringing the total to $949.51.
The package came. The package had only the two hard drives, and thus was short the external enclosure. It had a declared weight of 2 pounds and was approximately 11.5" X 13.5" 2.5". The package actually weighed slightly over four pounds, and despite being short on contents was over the declared weight by more than 100%. According to the FedEx shipping tables, the real shipping charges for the declared weight would have been $3.67. At the actual weight, the shipping charges would have been $8.66. You would think that since they bilked me on the shipping they could have afforded to give FedEx the additional $3.99 that was due.
The outer package and all internal packing material was 100% FedEx supplied shipping materials (several FedEx cushioned envelopes used instead of bubble wrap). It's probably provided to them by FedEx for free with a shipper account.
I did get the drive enclosure, after I sent a terse email to them. Although the original order confirmation had all three items on the same FedEx tracking number, the enclosure came in a separate package, from another location a couple of days later. They claimed they were out of stock on the enclosure and had it shipped from another location. They offered no reply to my question of the shipping charges.
I did receive the entire order within a reasonable amount of time. However, in my opinion the obvious overcharging on shipping is deliberate consumer gouging and is a fraudulent business practice. There is simply NO EXCUSE for charging over $78 shipping charges for the shipment as described above.
Ultimately, some blame falls on me for lack of attention to the shipping charges before the order was sent. Had I noticed the out-of-line shipping charges I would not have sent the order. I will no longer be ordering anything from them.
My advice is that if you choose to order from memorylabs.com pay careful attention to what you are charged for shipping, and don’t get burned like I did.. "
"$29 to ship 3 lbs package coast to coast Fedex Ground ???? AND INSURANCE IS $6 EXTRA???"
"I was in the process of ordering, but decided against it when I saw the $84.00 portable storage devive I was purchasing has jumped up to $120.00 after a $35.00 shipping charge was added. I've never heard of $35.00 to ship a small box that weighs less that 1lb. And that's after I unchecked all the BS add-on fees they listed like insurance and warranties. (including those the final price would have been over $160.00!!!)
If that's not false advertising I don't know what is. AVOID THIS COMPANY!
BTW: please read their return policy.. the worst Iv'e seen...

"Placed an order based on their ad on pricewatch for a monitor advertised as $108. The order total rang up to $215! When I asked them if they would honor their advertised price, I received no response. The next day I checked on my order status to find out they had canceled my order! NO RESPONSE TO CUSTOMER EMAILS AND BLATANTLY FALSE ADVERTISING!"
"Jokers all around! Decided to buy from them even though they had bad reviews at pricewatch.com and smarterdeals.com. When I called to place my order I spoke with someone who didn't speak good English... oh well I thought... as long as they can get my order right. When I got my order... it was clearly used... not new.... no thanks."
"I read the reviews and didn't quite know what to think about this place. But they were the only online store that still had the lcd monitor I wanted at the same price newegg used to carry it at so I figured what the hey. Order process was extremly smooth, order placed Thursday night, Friday it shipped. Week later I have it in my hands , packaged very well and product as described. I would definatly order from them again for my computer needs."
"I hestitated to buy from this store b/c it had minimal, mixed reviews, and on top of that it had a Yahoo! store front for purchasing. But my experience was excellent. I ordered a PolyView 19" LCD display which shipped the following day. It arrived on schedule, freight-free and in excellent condition. No dead pixels, everything perfect. I would not hesitate to buy from MemoryLabs again."
"I was a little nervous considering some of their previous reviews and reputation, and I was also ordering a white-lable generic HD, but DAMN, I got the drive, and they upgraded me from an 80gig 5400rpm to an 80gig 7200rpm at no charge! I don't know if they were out of stock or what, but a very pleasant surprise! Thanks!
I would also like to add that the actual arrival of the drive was a day earlier than estimated, and shipping was free, so I am happy with this company."
"
Bought a low-priced WD2000JB hard drive; got what I ordered and it works fine. It did take them four days from order to shipping, but it was Christmastime. Website was a little difficult to navigate, make sure to select free shipping option. Two status emails and fedex tracking worked flawlessly. Fedex padded envelopes were included in the shipment, maybe for return shipping if needed?
First order / would order again.

"This is my first buying experience from this e-seller. I ordered 40GB 5400RPM 8MB cache NOTEBOOK HDD with USB 2.0 Pocket External case for $90.00 w/ free shipping. I did not select the option for assembly nor to format the HDD as they cost xtra. I ordered on the 13th, received auto confimation on my order on the 14th, received shipping confirmation on the 15th and received my order on the 17th. The pocket HDD comes in very well protected packaging, and to my suprise, since I did not pay for the xtras, the pocket HDD is already assemble and formatted. So far it works great, this pcoket HDD is very light and comes with a nice leather pouch and also a 3 way USB cable. The 3 way USB cable provided due to some USB port on laptop (i.e Toshiba, Compaq and small thin & light laptops like Sony Vaio) does not have enough power to run this HDD from a single USB port, therefore you need to use BOTH USB ports to power this pocket HDD. I think they should mentioned this on their website. I have also connected this pocket HDD via USB 1.0 port and it works fine, but slow. Overall I am satisfied with my first buying experience w/ them and I probably will do business again.

"Purchased a SuperMicro server, a SuperMicro chassis and a motherboard. Total order $2,000. Called to get a better shipping price. Products arrived on time and in a great condition. Sales manager John was very helpful.
Will definitely use them again for my server needs."
"I bought a LG 4160B dual layer burner from them and it came within a week in good condition. The overall rating score kind of scared me but then I read the comments in the ratings and thought the comments were rather unfair and irrelevant. This is my first experience with the company and it was smooth. I would order from them again."
"Would definitely order from them again, I am extremely satisfied! I ordered an Apacer HandySteno HT202 (128 MB) for only $23!! There was no catch and there was free shipping available. The only warning to this is in the shipping options. By default, their best shipping option for you is an $18 rate, which is outrageous to say the least. You can and should, however, opt for the "Free Airborne@Home Standard Ground - Limit 1 Item Per Customer" if of course you are ordering only one item. the item came in one week, like UPS ground but I was willing to wait a few extra days because the price was so good. That said, I wouldnt hesitate to order from them again, they had the best price for this item on the market!"
"I ordered a Acard DVD controller with a 2 day FEDEX. I didn't read their rating until after I placed the order (couldn't log on). Started to get concerned after reading all the negatives. But, my order arrive on time in new condition. No problems. Maybe they have gotten better or I'm just lucky.
