"Ordered Maxtor 8D300J0 harddrive on 3/20/09 received 3/23/09. Drive faled to complete unit start request. Returned on RMA 4/3/09. Requested cross ship and was told to go ahead and buy another drive and my credit card would be refunded. Received next drive 4/8/09. New drive had 4 bad blocks and terminal timed out. No refunds have been made to credit card after three phone calls. Company acknowledges the first drive is bad but can't say when credit will be issued. Have requested RMA on second drive. Received partial refund on both drives 4/23/09 and 5/1/09."

"I, too, was deceived by this company. My father and I each ordered two "OEM" Western Digital WD7500AAKS hard drives, for a total of four. They arrived fine, but they were what I would clearly consider "white label" and not actually "OEM." That is to say, the Western Digital labels had been removed and replaced with generic labels, and the drive identification in the firmware had been changed to a generic identifier. Furthermore, when I called the company to complain that these drives that were specifically being advertised as Western Digital had no indications of being so, they let on that the drives were actually remanufactured; that is to say, USED. Nowhere on the product page was there any sort of terminology depicting the drives as anything other than new.

The RMA process was hellish. After multiple rounds of phone calls and emails, they would not waive the 15% restocking fee. I sent the drives back, and my father and I each filed a chargeback on the restocking fee and the original shipping cost. Fortunately, this was not contested, and through the chargebacks we received our money back in full.

I would strongly recommend against ever doing business with this company. They are a deceptive, fraudulent corporation with abhorrent business practices. Seven months later, they continue to advertise products from multiple manufacturers as "OEM" or "New" when they are NOT "OEM" or "New." How do I know the second part without having ordered from them again? Because I just followed a Pricewatch link to a MemoryLabs WD10EACS drive advertised as "NEW", but the product page clearly lists it as "Recertified." At least they're half-telling the truth these days.

I've been in touch with the trademarks department at Western Digital, and they do seem to be interested in pursuing action against MemoryLabs.com. Take my advice and take your business elsewhere.

"Memory Labs sold me 4 different hard drives at 4 different times. All drives were advertised as new but I've recently found out they were all refurbished. This is a criminal act (theft by deception) and I'm trying to file criminal charges right now. I've identified the sales person and where he lives. I would never trust this company again."

"I ordered a 500 GB "white label" hard drive from MemoryLabs.com. It came, well-packaged in my opinion, in two FedEx Express padded envelopes.

The shipping was prompt, the packaging was effective, and the drive works fine. I'd give them the top score, except that the real test of a reseller is when somethings goes wrong.

Further info on the "white label" drive:
1. It's a Western Digital that has been re-labeled to match some unknown company, probably foreign as there are some typos on the label.
2. The label is "WL500GBS".
3. The legacy power connector is mentioned on the label, but there is no legacy power connector.
4. It's a 465.76 GiB drive.

"I received the Hitachi 160GB 0A28419 5400RPM 8MB ATA Notebook Hard Drive in perfect condition. Their packing method though is a wonder since they used all FedEx packaging that was designated for Express shipments not Ground shipments. But I guess thats a problem between FedEx and Memorylabs."

"Purchased 5 Seagate 7200.11 750Gig SATA II Drives in two orders. The orders processed fine and were delivered in the expected amount of time. The last order arrived 5 days ago and I placed the drives in a NAS solution and immediately heard 1 drive with the infamous "clinking" sounds indicative of impending full drive failure. I called Seagate support as I have a 5 year warranty and they said it sounds like the drive is failing and I should get the vender (MemoryLabs) to replace it with a new one as I have just bought it from them and it's DOA.

After contacting MemoryLabs I was told I have to get it replaced by Seagate through the normal RMA process. When I asked about the fact that I will most likely not get a new drive but a refurbished one that may have problems undetected by Seagate the support technician at MemoryLabs refused to replace the drive and Seagate must RMA it, sighting that fact that I still have the 5 year warranty to fall back on.

To me it's like buying a new car that's not functioning and having the dealership give me someone else's old car that didn't work but was "maybe" fixed and "maybe" had a 12,000 miles on it to replace my new car sighting I still have the warranty.

MemoryLabs is a sham and I learned my lesson. Hopefully this review will be beneficial for anyone thinking of purchasing from them.

"When the 500GB USB/SATA, drive arrived, it could not be formatted. Not to worry, Memorylabs guaranteed the drive for 90 days.

An RMA was arranged and the drive was back in Memorylabs hands on January 18; that is in less than 30 days. Yet, they refused to replace it. I was made to wait for some kind of meaningless activity to be completed.

Another month went by when, finally, on February 18, the drive was back in my hands. The problem was that the drive case was broken so badly it was unusable. Because the case was broken where everything connected, the power socket and connectors were not affixed to anything stable. To make matters worse, the support bracket too was broken. SO, even were all else OK, the drive would have to be laid on its side.

Still, Memorylabs refused to do anything to get a replacement to me. I finally got them to offer me a full refund. But, I'd have to pay shipping again. My decision was NO THANKS. It's easier to just not bother with this vender again.

Fortunately, probably because I have to care for 300 computers, I had another case on hand and the user who'd been waiting for the drive for 2 months finally got what they'd needed and paid for.

"Excellent. Cheapest G0 pricing that I found anywhere. May not look like they are a big company, but that means they don't have the overhead and can pass deals on to you, the consumer. Took a chance and I am glad that I did. Saved almost $20 by going with MemoryLabs!"

"Ordered a Western Digital External Hard Drive before Christmas. Was told they were in stock and would ship on the 19th, so I would have it by Xmas. By the 22nd I heard nothing although my card was billed. When I was finally able to get through to someone I was told there was a 7 day credit card confirmation period for all new customers, WTF!!! So, if I was lucky it would ship the 26?? I told them to cancel it immediately and then they got really rude saying it could take up to 30 days to get my credit. I hung up with them and called Discover Card ASAP. They put the charge on dispute so I was able to use my card to buy a drive from someone else. MEMORYLABS then tried to add a 15% restocking fee on my card after they were informed of the dispute & tried to tell Discover the drive was a special order :o(
Needless to say I won my dispute with them & as per Discover Card's recommendation I had my card number changed to prevent any possible future fraud from this company.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM IN ANY WAY!!!!!!!!

"Steer clear of MemoryLabs! Their web site claimed an "in-stock" status on a server case, and after placing the order, the order acknowledgement did not indicate any problem with availability.

After a couple of days I recontacted them asking for a tracking number and ship date, and only then was I informed that the case was out of stock with no known availability date.

What good are the lowest prices if you don't have the item for sale?

"Purchased 300GB drive from store. I placed it in my system, and now the system no longer recognizes any hard drives I place in it. Same thing happened on 2 other systems. I called tech support, explained what happened, and requested an RMA. Tech said he'd start the RMA process, but he told me he was sure the drive is actually a good drive, simply because it was new when it was shipped to me.

If/When the drive gets replaced, I'm not doing any further business with this company. I don't appreciate being called a liar.
