Never shop at home depot! It's a nightmare!

"I ordered a french door and they just plopped it in my driveway during hail season. I had to rally up people to help me move it inside the garage and found that it was the wrong door! Had to spend hours trying to get them to pick it up and deliver the right door- emphasizing that they not plop it down in my driveway! After another month I got the door which they plopped down in my driveway again! A couple months later the glass cracked so I had them order a new glass insert. Went to pick it up, unpackaged it, disassembled my door to place it in and it was the wrong size! Had to reassemble my door, repackage their glass, and drive back to the store. They were defensive and rude even though I stayed calm and professional.
The delivery of that glass was delayed for unknown reasons so I asked them to deliver the new glass to the store because I was going to be out of the Country. They delivered the glass to my home, placed it up against the garage and left! This is just a summary of the nightmare I went through. I spent countless hours either on the phone or at their store dealing with this door for 7 months!!!

Absolutely horrible customer service

"I order a salt spreader that never came 3times they keep giving me the runaround I just want my money back but they won’t do that I will never shop at a Home Depot again schoulda went to Lowe’s ... since iam a contractor and do a lot of bussiness at homedepot I will no longer bring my business there or send any of my customers there for material absolutely horrible "

Everything's wrong with Home Depot

"I ordered some items online. There was this sectional wall plate worth $2.5 they were not able to ship because they didn't have it at the warehouse, but I could pick it up at the store where they had it. First problem: why can't they ship items from the store? So I go to the store which takes a lot of my time, wait for a long while, and finally get the plate. At this point I'm exhausted and hurried to get out of there, but when I get home I realize I had ordered the item in white and given an item in almond color. I call HD and explain the problem. They still can't send me the item because they don't have it in the warehouse, so I claim they have to find another way to compensate me for the waste of time. The representative agrees to refund me the $2.67 of the product. I feel they owe me more than that, but OK. A week later I come to the store to return other items I had bought online which I realized later I wouldn't need. The items were unopened and in perfect condition. I also bring the sectional wall plate I was already refunded for, because I won't need it and now I'm at the store again for other reason, so why keep it, right? I wait forever to be helped, and then the employee doesn't have the tags he needs, so he keeps me waiting literally 20 minutes just to go get the tags. By this point I'm impatient and want to get out of the store asap. He processes the refund and only when I'm out of the store I realize he discounted the 2.67 I had been given as compensation for getting a wrong product from my refund. So basically O was charged for the product I was sold by mistake and I returned. I called and asked them to fix this mistake. The representative claims it's not a mistake: that now I have to pay for the product I had already been refunded for. WTF."

Terrible Customer Service

"Went to the Home Depot in Hiram to buy a riding lawnmower however after asking for help no one came out to assist us we were waiting for 40 minutes and no help so we left.
I suggest NOT TO SHOP AT THIS LOCATION EVER!! NO WONDER PEOPLE SHOP ONLINE BECAUSE CUSTOMER SERVICE ****!!!

Can't find associates and forever on hold

"When you call to be transferred to a department, your call just keeps coming back to the operator. They keep promising that they are transferring. I waited 10 minutes to finally reach an associate. I had to tell the customer service rep. that they had promised to transfer my call 3 times and I still hadn't talked to someone in the department. When you go to Home Depot these days it is hard to find associates. I have had to walk the whole store to find someone more times than I want to remember. I don't think that it is the associates' fault. I think it is more about management at the store and top management at the company that care more about the stock price for investors than customers at the store. The quality of customer service at Home Depot has deteriorated a lot. I will pay more at Lowe's just for the customer service."

If I could give HD a negative score I would

"Aug 10, I bought a fridge for a rental property that was between tenants. I needed it no later than the end of August as tenants were moving in the 1st. They gave me a delivery date of 8/24 and said the delivery guys would call 30 mns. before arriving. A few days before, I get an email stating it would be arriving 8/24 between 2-4 pm. I wait all day in an empty house and nobody shows up. That day at 5:50, I call their delivery people Daryl Fludd, who tell me Home Depot's dates are "just an estimate" and that I should ignore any emails that come from them and call Daryl Fludd instead. They say they did not have the fridge in the warehouse yet. They tell me to wait for a call from them. On Aug 29, when nobody calls, I call them and they tell me that I am scheduled for 8/30, the next day. (Mind you, it's the eve and NOBODY called, texted or emailed to tell me this.) I ask, is this just "an estimate", or the actual delivery date? They say: "It's the actual date, we have it in our warehouse now." I wait (this time at my own house) all of the next afternoon for a call until 6 pm and nothing. My husband and I go to Home Depot in person (at 8 PM the next Monday) and after waiting around for 30 mins the same clerk who sold it to us on the 10th, says it is out of stock! Again, except for the initial email, not a soul has contacted us. We complain to the manager who doesn't know anything and tells us that it's the manufacturer's responsibility to contact us. Then he looks up something on the computer and it says that Daryl Fludd has a note that WE asked to change the delivery date. So Daryl Fludd lies twice: once to us about having it in their warehouse and deliverable on 8/30, and then to HD that we changed the delivery date! Unbelievable! The manager promises to get to the bottom of this and to call us the next day. The next day, I get a message in voice mail from Frigidaire saying they can get it to us on Sep. 19th, and will give us a $50 credit for our troubles. Meanwhile, our tenants can't move because we have no fridge. I located a replacement online that would arrive sooner (and cost $150 less) and called back the Frigidaire number I was given to cancel the order. Even that was a headache! Frigidaire cancelled the order but told me I had to call Home Depot to get my refund. It took me 3 calls to locate someone at HD who could refund me. This is a major corporation, but it functions like a fly-by-night operation. They are the face to the public, but they don't even take responsibility for any customer service, passing the buck and making customers call manufacturers and warehouses trying to track down their inventory! Even the tracking button on their email didn't work. I had stopped using contractors from HD awhile ago when they destroyed my hall carpet on a floor install for another room. But this takes the cake! This company has become a joke. "

Don't trust their interest free financing offer

"I bought a top of the line dishwasher, and my flyer stated clearly 10% off plus interest free financing for 24 months. The first bill had $17+ interest. I contacted Home Depot and Citibank (who was completely worthless). Neither would fix the problem, so I just paid it off and closed my account. I will avoid using either ever again, so that $17 will end up costing them WAY more than my little inconvenience. "

What a worthless excuse for a retailer.
76% of customers give it a 1 out of 5 stars, and im just another less than pleased person.

We ordered tile and not only did it take too long, but they sent the wrong stuff causing my project to fall 3 weeks behind schedule.
After calling HD.COM. They wanted me to repay for the right tile, return it to the nearest store, before they would do anything. Delaying my work even longer.
The store isnt much better! Their system showed 100 pieces of the tile in the store, but no one could locate it. Home depot has turned into a shack! Cluttered, and unorganized.

Don't believe 100% satisfaction guarantee on flooring

"My entire debacle started in March 2018 when, after being convinced against my better judgement, I went with HD for flooring in my basement. Had carpet on one half and laminate flooring on the other. When I was handed the order only the carpet was mentioned and I brought this up to store employee. Told me not to worry it covered both the laminate and the carpet. When HD's contractor showed up, he had no idea it was a half/half job and had to reschedule the measure. Finally got that corrected, measurements made and product ordered. When I was told the product was in, I brought my trailer for an easy load with a forklift. Only problem is no one in the entire store knew where the forklift was and I ended up loading it in the back of the pickup. Then I finally get called by the their contracted installer and they had no idea it was half laminate/half carpet. We finally get the laminate installed in early May and almost instantly it begins to buckle and bow. I call the install company and finally in August they can make it out to fix the issue. Only problem is, it can't be fixed due to the improper installation by the contracted worker. He put it in improperly with no room for expansion/contraction and we learned it was backwards. The new contracted worker indicated whoever installed it did a crap job and a complete new floor is needed. Now I'm being told an 'inspector' from HD has to come out prior to a new floor being ordered. This six month nightmare reminds me of the movie Money Pit. Like I said, I was talked into going to HD after I refused to shop there for several years based on previous experiences there. As soon as this flooring issue is hopefully fixed, though I'm not optimistic they won't screw me in end, I will never darken their door. I mention this entire nightmare of a scenario to all friends, family and associates who will listen. "

Dishonest installation

"I bought a dishwasher online from Home Depot and paid the $150 for installation kit and installation. The installation was set for Thursday and I stayed home from work. The crew showed up (late, but no big deal) having already "delivered" 2 units with 18 more to go. When they came in they discovered that the tile had been laid after the dishwasher was installed and it was going to take a little effort to get the old one out. The only English-speaking member of the delivery team explained that they could not touch the cabinets, etc and I would have to remove the existing dishwasher and then they would come back and install. I agreed, thinking that I would call and they would return - what an idiot I am! It took me 5 minutes to remove the dishwasher and I called the number he gave me only to find out that the install could be set for NEXT week. I made a fuss and the girl called the delivery team to see if they would come back as they had said they would. They refused. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he OK'd a Saturday delivery rather than waiting until next week. So, we'll see... These other reviews are not giving me much hope.

The moral of the story is: if you are having an appliance installed by Home Depot, you had better either do the installation yourself or make darned sure that they will be NO problems with removing the old and/or installing the new unit. In this case, I should have pulled out the existing unit myself before they arrived. It appears that the subcontractors they use will come up with ANY excuse possible to NOT do the installation and go on to the next house. And they will be happy to tell you they will "come back" without mentioning that you'll be starting over and waiting several days. I won't make this mistake twice.

"I don’t blame the associates I blame the ones responsible for training and making sure they have the tools and knowledge of what they are doing and where to go to find answers to simple questions like who’s the manager? I blame the people at the top! If they cared enough to secure their job they would pay attention to feedback!!!"

Don't believe the positive reviews you read about the products they sell

"I've been trying to post my experience with a Weber grill I bought, concerning them packing a bent up leg in the box that was NOT shipping damage, but Home Depot keeps rejecting the review saying it is violating their guidelines because it is ABOUT shipping. I am on my fifth attempt now. So my guess is that posting negative reviews is just difficult to do there, so leaving all the positive reviews are all that is permitted. So take the review process at Home Depot with a LARGE grain of salt. IMHO, they are not allowing the true review process to take place.

Used to love HD but when youa re travelling and don't have access to the coupon that is at home - can't you get it??

"Had to go into a store in NV (we live in MT) and order a range. Needed it RIGHT AWAY! Said we had a coupon for 10% off but its at home as we are on vacation travelling. Oh we need the actual coupon. But when you get home call card services and they cshould be able to apply it. Called card services - oh no you should of called us at the timeof the sale - we have a record of it here! Can't do anything about it now!!

Fire pit Kit

"Zero stars would be my preference but . . . My daughter purchased a fire pit kit from Home Depot for $460.00
When it arrived a piece of the wall was in pieces. She called Home Depot and they said they would order a new piece and replace it. She never heard back from the store, so she called. The person said she would check. They had sent 3 pieces, all were broke. They told her they would reorder and be in touch. Again, she doesn't hear from anyone for weeks and when she calls, she's told someone will call her back the next day. Nope, no call. She called this week and was told they will not be shipping another piece!! I have no idea who 'they' are, but she dealt with Home Depot, they took her money, and this is what happens. I will certainly be spending my money at Lowe's and Ace Hardware. And I will tell everyone I know about her experience.
