"Never order from these people. I ordered a rolling hockey bag which was broken upon arrival (the entire handle was broken off). Then when I called, they accused me of breaking the bag. I've never heard of anything like this with even the most shady of merchants. After I explained myself and said what they were saying was ludacris, they continued to say I broke it on purpose. Extremely disappointing. They also have very unprofessional customer care people when you call who are extremely rude.

A couple of other things, they will charge you for all shipping for returns and exchanges (going in both directions). And don't buy any clearance items from them because returns are not allowed on these.

"Before placing my order I asked HockeyMonkey order department by email about possibility to ship ice hockey skates via USPS Express Mail to Ukraine. Their sales employee answered me not as a private person. She answered my request as a sales employee of HockeyMonkey.com and confirmed that they could ship it via USPS Express Mail for $65.

When I placed my order via online, I chose the 'UPS Worldwide Express' shipping option because no other did not work for international orders. The system charged my PayPal account $80 for shipping which I accepted. I wrote my comments in the order form and asked to ship the parcel via USPS Express Mail.

After that I asked that person who quoted Express Mail for my request to correct shipping cost in my order according with her previous quotation. She answered that she was wrong before and shipping cost was higher in fact. Then I received a message from another their woker who informed me that shipping cost was increased even more up to $95. My PayPal account was charged again for the diff without my accept. Notice, that USPS Express Mail fee for shipping a 5-lbs parcel to Ukraine is $49.50.

I proposed them to cancel my order in this case and refund full sum because it was much higher than they quoted before and it was almost twice more than USPS Express Mail fee. I received an answer that cancellation was not possible because the parcel had been shipped. But it was lie. I got to know it for sure next day when I tracked my mail via USPS web-site after they told me USPS tracking number. Make matters worse the parcel was shipped via USPS Priority Mail, not via USPS Express Mail as I asked. But this service was not convenient for me because it did not have guaranteed time of delivery. And Priority Mail fee is still cheaper than Express Mail, about $40 for a 5-lbs parcel to Ukraine.

When I asked about the problem, they told me that they always use USPS Priority Mail, no other USPS services and never promised me to ship it via Express Mail. But they did not inform me about it before shipping. They increased shipping cost and charged my PayPal account without my accept. $95 is too high cost even for Express Mail service. And finally they shipped my parcel via cheap USPS Priority Mail. Excellent!

I will try sending all materials to IC3 and ask them to decide if the business style of HockeyMonkey is kind of fraud or it is just a business trick, a kind of joke with their buyers.

"I just received a closeout Warrior Hockey Stick (better price than anywhere else). The order came in 5 bus. days just as promised, box in good condition, stick and bag as advertised (still need to try out on rink but do not anticipate problems). I called the staff with a couple pre-purchase questions and they were friendly and answered everything. I would do business with them again."

"This was by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. My order was to be received in full within 5 business days. It took 10 days, no big problem there. So the pants I ordered did not fit properly, and the shoulder pads they sent were a LARGE when I ordered a MEDIUM. I called to exchange the pants for a smaller size, and was told the size is not in stock. Then they proceed to tell me the I have to ship the shoulder pads back AT MY EXPENSE, and incur a 15% re-stocking fee, FOR THEIR SCREW UP. And I would have to pay $14.98 to have them ship the correct shoulder pads out. This was the worst experience I have ever had with ANY retail store. I will NEVER do business with these THIEVES again."

"Our two sons play high school and college level hockey and we have purchased a number of items from HockeyMonkey over the years. We have generally had a good experience but our most recent purchase did cause some problems.

We ordered a CCM equipment bag in August, 2009 that we called in for delivery to a college campus address. We were assured that the bag was available and would be shipped to the specified address. Five days later we were notified by email that the bag was not available. We then had to order a different bag (at a higher price) which did arrive in good shape at the promised delivery date.

"Hockeymonkey.com is one of the worst online retailers I have ever dealt with and I pretty much buy 90% online.

Why? Firstly, they are like the 1% of remaining online retailers who still charge a "handling fee" on top of their shipping charges.

Secondly, they shipped me an incorrectly sized wheel for my hockey skates. It was for my front wheel and as you know, you can't skate without a front wheel, so I was forced to use it because I received it just in time for my game and I had no other option.

I knew that they wouldn't be able to take it back after using it, so I simply proposed they send me the proper sized wheel AND I WOULD PAY FOR IT and they just ship it free of charge. The wheel was $4.99 and she said "ok after out handling fee, that comes out to $9.98 and we will waive the shipping charge." I said "WHAT?" She refused to send me the wheel for $4.99 even though I was being nice enough to pay for it even though THEY MESSED UP. She refused to get rid of the ridiculous $5 handling fee.

So hockeymonkey.com's customer service and caring about customers...well it just doesn't exist

"HockeyMonkey service is absolutely unacceptable for International customers. Don’t use them at all. Otherwise you will lose your money as I did and nobody will answer your phone calls and emails. HockeyMonkey sent me a package, nobody contacted me, my package reurned back and I lost my money. See the details below.

I placed my order with shipping to Novosibirsk, Russia. HockeyMonkey sent me the package. I knew about custom changes and was ready to pay for everything. My package was sent via UPS. When package arrived to Moscow local UPS didn't contact me and just returned my package back to store. I noticed that from UPS tracking information. I was frustrated as I didn't understand what happened. I contacted UPS and they told me that UPS doesn't ship orders to Novosibirsk if order cost is more than 5000 RUR (~about 180$). UPS never contacts receivers if they aren't in Moscow. They always send packages back. According to UPS this information is available worldwide and HockeyMonkey should know this as just as everybody. I didn't know that and I'm not responsible for this rule.

When HockeyMonkey offer international shipping they always mention "Worldwide Express", which doesn't explicitly tell me that this is UPS. If I knew it is going to be UPS, I could check shipping policies myself, but they didn't give me this chance. When HockeyMonkey uses UPS shipping they should make people aware that it has such low cost limits for delivery to certain places. If this is their internal policy (and not customs limitation), then they shouldn't offer this carries, especially taking into consideratino high availability of other carriers - like FedEx, DHL, USPS, etc.

The result. My order cost was 320$ = 240$ for goods+ 80$ for delivery.

They returned me only 50$ and deducted the following
- 80$ for delivery
- 159$ refusal fees from UPS
- 15% for restocking.

I just ordered some goods. I didn't refused my order. Nobody contacted me and proposed to pay customs charges and fees. Package returned back. And I lost 270$. Do you want to be next?
