Caution on the side of mouth guards...read fine print. Customer service line was not friendly or apologetic. As a Father of 6 children I have done a lot of business over the web and without a doubt, HockeyMonkey has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. STAY AWAY - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY! The background: I was looking to purchase the new $200+ Warrior hockey stick for my son but was not sure of what size to purchase (i.e. Junior or Intermediate). To guide me, I called HockeyMonkey’s toll free and spoke with one of their reps. She advised me to order the Intermediate sized stick based on my son's height and weight. Unfortunately I was not able to complete the sale over the phone at that time and so I went to their website a couple of hours later and ordered exactly what the customer service rep advised when I spoke with her on the phone. I paid full price for the stick and also paid for shipping. The stick arrived as promised but it is clearly too long and the appropriate stick would have been the junior size.
When I called Hockey Monkey to request an exchange, I was informed that I needed to pay for shipping back to Hockey Monkey AND pay for shipping for the replacement stick. I explained that this did not seem fair since I ordered what their representative advised me. All I received back was a lecture that their policy is you pay for shipping back on the return and shipping on the new stick. Ok, I understand that’s the policy but when they are at fault for me advising me to order the wrong size…..it would have seemed reasonable for them to waive some/all the shipping expenses? Nope, not a chance – the policy is the policy is what I was told. I asked to speak to a manager (Lorna) and guess what? Same answer….no help on the shipping and oh, by the way if I don’t order a replacement stick they charge 15% restocking fee. What a deal!
This experience has been awful but it has reinforced to me that I should never do business with any of the “X” Monkey companies if THIS is how they treat their customers. Prior to this I have been a repeat customer of HockeyMonkey and HomerunMonkey but NEVER again. No problem for any of us, there are plenty of other companies on the web to do business with.
Stay away from HockeyMonkey, GoalieMonkey, MonkeyTeamSports, LacrosseMonkey and HomerunMonkey.

"Some of the most shockingly bad customer service I have had in a long time. I talked to a customer service rep on the phone when buying a nice hockey stick and they told me I needed to buy a "left" blade even though I am right handed and shoot right handed. The woman's reasoning was that "left" means that the stick curves to the left when looking at it while holding it. I knew this sounded odd, but I figured the customer service rep of a place that sells hockey equipment would know better than I.
WOW was I wrong. Not only did they send me a stick meant for a left handed player, they want me to pay $5 PLUS $18 to ship it back and then another $16 for them to ship me one. THAT IS MORE THAN THE STICK COSTS. I called and talked to several customer service reps and after presenting my case, the manager offered to give me a measly 10% discount if I wanted to buy another stick from them. The nerve on these people! They obviously have no idea what it means to treat their customers with respect
This is by far the worst customer service of any retailer I have ever used. Be careful before buying anything from them!! "
