"I've read some of the other reviews about Hockey Monkey, and I am sad to see customers have had a bad experience. I ordered twice from Hockey Monkey, both times without a hitch. In fact, the first order I made, my Internet browser froze just after I hit the "Place Order" button, and so I made the order again thinking it didn't take the first time. The next day I received an Email AND phone call from Hockey Monkey customer service asking if I meant to place two identical orders or if one was an error. I responded asking to cancel one of the orders, since they were the same. No problem, the service rep said. I was thrilled with that excellent service! They caught my mistake.

I don't have any experience with their return department, but my caveat would be this: as long as you know exactly what you want, order with confidence from them. Their prices can't be beat. I received my skates at half off on clearance, but I tried the skates on at my local store first, so I knew precisely what I wanted when I shopped online for better deals.

"BEWARE THAT HOCKEY MONKEY EDITS REVIEWS TO IMPROVE PRODUCT SALES!

Bought a pair of inline hockey pants from their website for my husband for Christmas. He didn't get to wear them until March, just outside of the warranty period, and they ripped the first time he fell down. I contacted customer service at Hockey Monkey and the first person said they would send a replacement pair of pants, but when I got sent to another representative to provide my information they told me I was out of warranty. Okay - outside the warranty is outside the warranty.

Well, I attempted to write a review of the product on their website b/c I felt it was a poorly made product to rip THE FIRST TIME WORN. Hockey monkey never posted my review. My husband also tried writing a review and his was never posted as well.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY OR THEIR PRODUCT REVIEWS!

"This company is the WORST!!! Their customer service is a contradiction in terms. They sent the wrong size and then wanted to profit on their mistake. Give your local retail store the business;
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. One time they sold us a pair of 2009 skates at the 2011 price.

"I needed some adult hockey equipment and you cant find any at the stores around me. I searched online and found nothing that wasnt a small or extra small for a reasonable price. But hockey monkey had an impressive amount of selection for a reasonable price. I ordered 4 items on saturday and received them by friday. I live in Kentucky and it was coming from California so I thought that was reasonable. Very satisfied with inventory offered and price."

"I ordered a pair of Bauer 12D Supreme Skates. After completing the order, I got a call about 10 days later saying they didn't actually have any (after charging my credit card). The service rep asked if I wanted a 12EE instead. I said not really because I've got a regular foot. He said that Bauers ran narrow and I'd be happier with the 12EE. I said okay, I'd try them, before learning that ONLY Bauer Vapors run narrow and Supremes and FlexLites are normal. I am in the military and stationed in Europe where mail takes longer to get to us. I got the package, tried them on, and surprise, too wide. I called them back and said I'd like to exchange the skates and, since a competitor had it cheaper, I'd like a price match per their advertisement to do so on the website. Their manager told me they wouldn't match the price so I simply returned the too wide skates and got the right size from Perani's Hockey World (much better than Hockey Monkey). I got charged a $40 "restocking fee"and I called to find out why. I was told it was because I had them longer than 14 days. I said of course I did because it takes that long to get to military post offices in Europe. I also reminded them that we wouldn't be in this position if their service rep knew the difference between Bauer Vapor and Supreme lines. So I'm out the $30 bucks to return them and another $40 bucks "restocking" eventhough I told them at the time of my order that it was going to take a while just to even try them on my feet. Apparently because he didn't say the words "and I will waive the restocking fee", I was going to get charged no matter what. I play for a large University team and I'm telling all my team mates to stay away from hockey monkey. I recommend you do the same as they do nothing to help fix a situation that they helped to cause in the first place. Bottom line, they just don't play fair."

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Their return policy is horrible, even for skates or equipment that don't fit. I ordered new skates based strictly on their sizing chart, and based on size I've used with the same skate company in past. They did not fit. I ended up having to pay for return shipping AND shipping on the new pair. Just awful. Shop elsewhere. "

"Ordered 3 items on 12/27. Had to call twice on 1/3 to find out that one item was out of stock and nothing had shipped as a result. Picked a replacement item only for them to sit on the order for another two days before finally shipping my order. Horrible customer service, as they should have contacted me much sooner to let me know that an item was out of stock, instead of sitting on it."

"The WORST!!! They don't update their site so it allows you to order items that are no longer in stock. You only find out later after YOU contact THEM that they don't have item anymore even though they have already charged your credit card. This happened to me at holiday which resulted in a late gift. Once I called them, found out they didnt have stick and weren't getting anymore in. Cancelled order. Four days later, they charged me again and shipped me the non-existent stick! Customer service is horrible--they do have an appropriate name however "monkey sports". Thats their level of intelligence too."

"Terrible customer service. After contacting them about matching free shipping from competitors I was told no. Right after placing an order I get an email for free shipping on orders. When asking customer service to credit my shipping charge I was told "I am really sorry but there is nothing I can do, we had thousands of orders and it would be impossible to locate your order." When asking who I could speak to about it I was told, "Unfortunately there won't be any manager who would be able to do anything, we cannot credit you back unless the order comes to customer service for some reason. We are prepared for a lot of customers asking for credits and refunds but we are unable to do so unless we have the paperwork."

"Poor online service. I placed an order and then waited. Checked the website everyday to track the order and it kept telling me that they had not filled the order yet. 6 days later I call (god forbid they contact me) and they tell me that they can't fill the order because what I ordered was not in stock. My question is why they never communicated that to me and why I had to initiate contact with them. Still waiting to hear how they are going to resolve the situation."

"I ordered a set of ref pants, and when I recieved them they were too large, so I mailed them back along with the reciept, and request for a medium. I included a letter with all of my contact info, in case i needed to pay shipping. I followed up with a call the next week to ask if they had recieved my return package. They said they had refused the package because there was not an "RA" number on the box. Now I have to send it back to them again with the pre approved RA info on the box. Next time I'm buying locally to save money LOL! "
