Terrible company...

"Here is what you should do, call their number ***-***-****. Try to reach a person for ANYTHING. I guarantee, you will never consider buying product, any product, from them. They will place you in a perpetual loop of phone prompts to keep from providing service.

Customer Service is AWFUL

"In early March, I ordered a cap and gown for my college graduation that was scheduled for May 9th. In late April I got an email that it had entered into manufacturing. It is now June 20th and my items have yet to SHIP. I understand production was temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but many of my peers who ordered their items after me (even within a week of graduation) received their items before our commencement ceremony.

In May, when I realized my order seemed to be late, I called. After 3 WEEKS of calling every other day, being on hold for 2+ hours, leaving a call back number multiple times and not being able to make contact with ANYONE, I gave up on calling. I then sent an email detailing the situation and saying that I wanted a refund as I no longer needed the items.

Another week later, after no response, I called again and finally reached a representative, a whole month after my graduation. I was told that the order was probably late because I filled out the form incorrectly. I then confirmed that the form was filled out correctly and was told that “some people received their orders on time and some people didn’t, we can’t control that”. I got NO apology or reasoning for the fact that I paid to have my items for a ceremony that had happened more than 4 weeks prior. They also informed me that they could not process my refund because my order was too far along in the process and would be shipping in 3-5 days.

It has now been 2 weeks since I was informed that the order would ship in 3-5 days. I called a few days ago and was told the items haven’t shipped yet, and was transferred to the supervisors answering machine. I left a message and haven’t gotten a call back from the supervisor. I am fairly certain I am being scammed.

I know that you can’t avoid using this company if your school chooses to source their cap and gown rentals here, but just know that their processes are poorly structured and their customer service is non-existent. This is one of the worst and most frustrating experiences I have ever had with a company.

Ruined my graduation!

"WHERE IS MY CAP AND GOWNS!! I have already waited for 3weeks and my graduation ceremony has past. All my friends left and I did not have a chance to take photos with them, nor my family. No one replies email or answer calls. RUINED MY GRADUATION YOU ****!"

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with

"Let’s talk about Herff Jones...again!
I graduated the 16th, cap and gown was suppose to be here prior to the virtual ceremony. It wasn’t. I tried calling and emailing three weeks prior to graduation and didn’t get any answers on either of them. When I did get someone to finally answer the phone they hung up on me!
Monday after graduation I was told it would be shipped Tuesday. Friday came along and they said it hadn’t been shipped yet. Today (two weeks after my graduation)....it STILL HASNT BEEN SHIPPED! I have had to cancel my pictures once already and looks like I’m going to have to reschedule a second time as well.
Going on five weeks of trying to get my cap and gown and I’m over it. They won’t refund it. They won’t send it to me. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

Let’s update this. We are now at the end of week six of me trying to get ahold of this company to find out where my cap and gown is. It’s now 3 weeks past my graduation (thank you Herff Jones for ruining my graduation day by not getting my stuff to me like you all promised it would be), two weekends of graduation parties that I did not get any pictures with my family or friends in my cap and gown, and two weeks after they told me it was sent and it STILL HAS NOT BEEN SENT TO ME! I received another email today from Patricia stating that I was not being ignore but they do not have my original internet reference number....I have sent it to Patricia 3x before today but I went ahead and sent it once again...not like it is going to do any good. I have also been in contact with Nina and I was told I would receive a call back from her Tuesday and I haven’t heard from her. I tried calling her yesterday and will try to call her again today.
If product is guaranteed to be here BEFORE our ceremony why is it that I am still fighting this company to receive my products? Clearly no one know how to communicate with each other nor does anyone know how to do their jobs.

Terrible logistics

"Requested a refund for a cap and gown on 3/27/2020. You wouldn't think it be hard to get a refund since my order had not even shipped. Come 05/31/20 I still get the package a good 4 weeks after when my graduation ceremony would've been. So now I have to pay out of pocket to give it back to them. If it takes any longer than a week to get my money back I'll do a chargeback. "

Late Cap and Gown

"I graduated this year from college. Back in February I ordered my announcements to be shipped to my house, but my cap and gown to be shipped to my school so that they could be picked up there. However, due to COVID our bookstore shut down and the options were to get a refund or have the order switched to home shipment. I still wanted to take pictures in my cap and gown so I switched to the home shipment option (On March 26th). Well, they promised that the caps and gowns would arrive by the time any virtual commencement happened, but mine happened this past Saturday, May 9th, and still no cap and gown. I was told they would ship this week but I hesitate to believe that will be true either."

Wheres my refund!

"I ordered a cap and gown on March 6the it was the wrong size and their return process is the most backwards process ever! I had to purchase a new order first then when that one arrived I needed to send back the incorrect order. I sent it back around March 25th and I have yet to receive my refund and not email from them saying they got my return. Nothing! Their phone directory just gives you the run around so you cant ever talk to a real person."

"I would give 0 stars if I could!! This is my second time I HAVE to order from them because my university makes us order our cap and gowns from them. I paid over $100 for my cap, gown, and hood that were such poor quality! I don’t know why universities do business with them. We pay thousands of dollars for our degree the least they could do is ensure we receive a quality graduation cap and gown for our graduation! Herff Jones is a total ripoff!!!!!!! "

Worst customer service

"With the recent impact of COVID 19 on gatherings and graduations I cancelled my order on 4/1/20 and received my confirmation email, however I have not received any correspondence since that date. I called customer service and a young lady told me, "we just opened on the 6th and if you received a confirmation email the refund went through." I offered to give her my name and information to check if there is anything additional needed from me to expedite correspondence and she said "it doesn't matter I can't tell you the status of your order." Did I miss something? Isn't that EXACTLY what customer service representative are here to do? I work for a utility company and that's like me saying, I can't tell you the amount of your bill. I was so irritated I just said thank you and ended the call. Good customer service is hard to come by nowadays!!! "

If you didn't have to use them, nobody ever would, EVER!!!!!

"Herff Jones is lacks customer service skills. Let me give you a list of how disrespectful, unorganized, unfriendly, and unethical they are.

First: Our son is special needs (Non verbal) in a home for adults with disabilities. He attends VHS until the age of 22 , where he ages out. This year he graduates. I continued to contact Herff Jones because we live 5 hours north and we were not getting the info from them to our son to us. They continued to argue with me that it was and I quote "NOT THEIR ISSUE THAT I WASN'T GETTING THE INFO, THAT ALL SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS NEED TO DO THE SAME AS ALL OTHER KIDS AND OUR SON SHOULD TELL US ABOUT WHAT HE GETS FROM Herff Jones." I am a very proactive parent. I also follow up. When I told them I would take this to the school board and make sure they lose out on the bid from Valdosta School district that's when they then decided to be kind and be helpful.

Second: Because we live 5 hours north and visit biweekly we needed to pick up the announcements. They argued about leaving them at the school like the rest of the kids. I had to explain a dozen times that our son AGED OUT, meaning he cannot attend school once he turned 22, only to graduate so all of his things would just be sitting at the high school only to be lost by someone since he won't return until may when he left in February.

Third: Since the pandemic school has been cancelled and graduation was on hold until a new date was set. The school informed everyone of the new dates for graduation on 4/17. HF mailed me my announcements on 4/20 and I received them on 4/22. I wrote them and asked why it wasn't updated and they blew me off. They then decided to give me a statement implying they were representatives of the school which I found odd. I will quote it here "You are in possession of your announcements that are only announcing your students accomplishments, not inviting people to attend any program or ceremony. Most schools ask us to let the recipient know that by receiving items earlier hat their classmates, does not mean they have meet the systems guidelines for graduation." She (Shery Bowen) goes on to let me know she has to ask the principal the ok to release the items (THAT I PURCHASED) to me.......? What? She continues to expand on "Early Shipment" I am not sure what that means because I never asked for anything early just to be sent to me.

Fourth: She goes on to babble about people using their homes and jobs. She was short and snide saying " I am glad your family was not effected in this way!" insinuating that this pandemic has in no way effected me or my family. She becomes emotionally unintelligent in her professional or so called professional responses. I then began to ask her questions and she writes " This should conclude our correspondences." She does NOT want to replace our announcements with the new info even though I did not give her the info the school did . Her job was to get the info from the school not mine. They printed from the schools info in which I did not provide. She didn't offer any other resolution. I will place a review on every site, a complaint to the BBB, a formal complaint to the principal and the school board. Lastly, I will continue to contact Herf Jones until someone responds to fix the issue.

Slow and bad quality

"I ordered you the announcements for my graduation and they came late and we’re all wrong, not sure how are you messed that up.

I ordered my ring for months ago, it took them over two months to finish it and when I got it it was horrible quality. I paid $1300 for my ring to be completely the wrong size, have the school name not centered, and the PS was an 85.

I asked him weeks ago before this pandemic got bad and they did nothing to expedite it to make sure I got my ring, they just threw it on the bottom of the pile, even though they screwed up.

As promised, they get one review every day I don’t get my ring on the date they told me I would have it.

Use another company, you’ll regret using this one.

If you didn't have to use them, nobody ever would

"I have been instructed to return my cap/gown. Seems like the instructions should be easy to find. Their automated phone service tells me to hang up an go to their website, to a page that doesn't exist. When I finally get through, their office is closed. Why is it so expensive to rent a piece of cloth? Well, besides they have a monopoly.

Terrible customer service

"Not willing to compromise at all for customer satisfaction. Payment reminder got lost in endless amounts of junk email. Was 5 days late and they charge $20. I could understand a small late fee but this is ridiculous. to top it, they are really aren’t out anything as all products aren’t even close to delivered. Poor customer service. "

Beyond awful

"I am a yearbook advisor form my High School and I had a contract with Herff-Jones for printing our school's yearbook for a few years. This company's service is beyond awful, their customer service reps are not just rude and abusive on the phone they are: unprofessional, mean spirited, foul mouthed, non-caring, horrible individuals. The stream of information I received repeatedly regarding due dates for sales and pages was frequently incorrect, when I then didn't make a deadline (entirely due to bad information being passed to me by my sales rep) I would be berated and cursed at by the factory sales reps.

There is absolutely no excuse for this behavior by a company like this. I have since taken steps move my school away from Herff-Jones as well as to insure that my school district is aware of the exceedingly poor treatment they dish out to their customers. I will NEVER return to HJ as a customer as they don't seem to have a clue how schools operate or what their customers need and want, that being; clear and timely information. I have moved on to Jostens and couldn't be happier, I would highly recommend any school or district considering Herff-Jones as a vendor think about Jostens or Balfour before giving their business to HJ.
