They said I would get a call back and much to my surprise and shock, their technical support person called me within a couple of hours. Today, that is so rare but more important, their technical rep. "We had a need to mount the gate post directly on, and to, the concrete. After talking to Dave at Gate Crafters and talking to a friend that also has a PE in structures and my structures background in aerospace we determine the weight of the cantilever would be carried by glued in 4-1/2" swedge anchors bolts in the concrete. The post foot and bolt pattern was designed and made with dual triangular gussets and was determine suitable for wind loads. That is the toe would work as a cantilever load resistance with wind coming from the gate side of the post and as a toe resistance pushing back against the post with the wind coming from the post side. So far we've had no problem with 40 plus mile per hour wind. The other advantage of the off set foot is it tucks the foot up under the gate and not out in the walking path. We have been very pleased with it. The glued in 1/2" bolts at 4-1/2" show in the charts to have approximately 2,200 lbs. resistance too.
