Don't order anything from Gamestop online if you value your sanity

"If you try to order online at Gamestop, especially during their sales periods, prepare to get your order cancelled. At this point I've made 13 different orders over the course of 4 days. 11 have been cancelled with no explanation, 1 sent, and 1 pending. I've had at 4+ customer service calls to Gamestop (not including the calls to my banks) with a total wait time of ~2 hours (not including the amount of waiting they make you do while you're talking to someone, their system is not very efficient).

The worst part is it takes at least 24 hours (though my most recent one occurred at the 36 hour mark) for your order to process, meaning you will think your order will go through, just to have your hopes dashed. I'd honestly prefer a speedy cancellation over the kind that you wait 12+ hours for, especially since these deals are time sensitive. I know the subject line format for their cancellation email so well at this point because it has ruined my mood many times this weekend.

The most common response they will give is an issue with your bank (not the issue, I've checked). At one point their customer service genuinely said there's nothing we can do, we don't know why your order cancelled, and suggested I use a different card or email. I've used THREE different forms of payment (how many do they expect me to have?) including Paypal. Even when using Venmo through Paypal and paying with my balance (aka no banks required), that still didn't go through. It's also a common response to just purchase it at a physical store but if that was a viable option, why would I have spent so much time trying to order it through the website? Not everyone lives close to your stores.

This has been THE WORST customer experience I've ever had. The customer service is SO UNHELPFUL. If you're going to have an outdated system, at least know what's wrong with it so people can get help. Gamestop is too big of a company to be this incompetent. My experiences in store (back when I lived close to one) was fine but I will try my best to never spend money at Gamestop again after this.

Currently I have $3,370 on hold for trying to make a $305 purchase. Thankfully I don't have any bills that need to be paid at this time while I wait for my two banks to reject these numerous STILL PENDING charges that Gamestop has automatically cancelled the orders for while still claiming the issue is on my financial institution's end. For the average consumer, they would have given up by now. You'd think after putting me through all this, I'd at least get some sort of discount compensation (I feel like this has cut 1-2 months from my life just from the stress and anger) but no, it's clear Gamestop as a corporation does not care about it's customers. I for one have given up on Gamestop. I hope you learn from my mistakes.

Terrible Service and they Stole my Money

"I ordered online and overnight 2 of my 3 items got cancelled when I had a buy 2 get 1 free deal so that was not applied anymore, as well as $25 store credit that I can't get back, and I have not received a refund. I called customer support and i was on hold 1hr 45min to spend 20 min trying to get them to help me but they kept saying they couldn't do what I was asking. She couldn't even cancel the 3rd item on my order so I couldn't get that money back either meaning I couldn't even cancel and reorder. I asked for a manger and was placed on hold yet again for 2hrs 45min this time then I finally gave up and hung up the call. After a total of a 5 hour phone call, no progress was made and I am still missing my credit and have no refund."

0 stars - horrible customer service and misinformation

"I was told that I could trade in my Dualshock 4 controller even though I iterated multiple times that I had the joysticks completely changed. Management that I spoke to said it wouldn’t be an issue. I brought my controller in days later while other associates were working and all of a sudden my controller “no longer meets trade-in requirements” even though it works perfectly fine and has no issues. When I told them that other management said I could trade it in, he rudely said “I am not accepting your controller.” Terrible customer service and uneducated associates. Guess what, Gamestop? CUSTOMERS ALWAYS COME FIRST. Especially loyal ones such as myself that has spent hundreds and thousands of dollars at your locations. This is why you will be out of business to better retailers that take care of their customers. Contracted customer support and all they sent back was an auto-generated email stating that “trade-ins are subject to manager approval.” Will NEVER shop there again. Associates cannot be trusted and troublesome situations become “he said she said”. Instead of handling the situation professionally and honoring what management told me, they lost a loyal customer that will NEVER spend another PENNY at another Gamestop EVER AGAIN."

Shady Company

"They sold me a resealed game as brand new. When I got home and noticed the disk had fingerprints and scratches on it I went back to try and return it. They refused and said that they commonly reseal their games and that they wouldn’t accept a return because it wasn’t new. IT WAS NEVER NEW IN THE FIRST PLACE. Last I checked it was illegal to take products out of their factory seal and sell them as new items, apparently Gamestop doesn’t care to routinely break the law. Don’t support this company and their illegal business practices, I know I’ll never shop there again."

Absolute Garbage

"I bought a Wii U console due to a promotion they were running. I apologize 100% in advance if they try to sell this to another individual. It has everything you can imagine wrong with it. It is yellow, orange chip stains everywhere, dust like I have never seen before, a cracked screen, wreaks of cigarettes, the power cord is ripped, the other charging power cord is covered in soda, and the hdmi cord is busted. REALLY GAMESTOP? this left your warehouse in checked and approved condition. I paid $70 and the only thing not damaged is the sensor bar ($5 maybe). I should smash this so you don't try and sell it to anyone else. Customer service is a waste of time. Don't even bother calling. I gave you one last chance GameStop. It is no wonder why you are going away. Good bye!"

Sent my game to wrong location

"Back in February I preordered a special edition of a game, it recently came out but i had to change the shipping & billing address due to my mother and I moving. I called them to change the address, and later on I called them again to confirm. When the game came out it was sent to my old house and I had to drive all the way over there to retrieve it. Also a couple years ago I bought a DLC packet and I was sent a code for the wrong download. Customer service could not do ANYTHING to help me. Thanks, Gamestop. You really need to get it together. Not coming here again. "

GameStop is trash and need to get it right.

"They sell you $50 games and give you $5 trade in value. Third trade in values are the same as the cash back value now. Refurbished consoles are rigged to break, if you buy a used one with a warranty don't expect it to last long because they will break until your warranty goes out. Originally I like GameStop when my console got friend from a thunderstorm they gave me a free power converter back in 2011. Since then they have spiraled downwards and have become complete trash. It's time to start buying from gamefly. I'd rather wait a week for a new game and pay $15 a month to play anything I want at any time than trade in $150 in games in order to buy a new one."

Would give zero if I could

"Just bought a new Xbox console from them. Was supposed to come with a free digital download for a game but the code was not in the box. Called corporate to get resolution and am being told there is nothing they can do. So I paid for something and they won’t give it to me! Their only solution was for me to drive 1.5 hours away to return the console and get a new one because they did not have another bundle at my store!! Absolutely ridiculous! I will never buy from them again. This is theft! I could have bought the console at Walmart for cheaper and not been swindled. I can not believe they treat people like this! My recommendation...Do not buy ANYTHING from this company!"

worst Online purchase I’ve ever made

"I bought an Xbox 360 bundle for a Christmas gift for my child. It was a refurbished Xbox 360. I ordered on game stop.com. I had purchased a two year warranty on this item because it is a refurbished product I wanted to make sure there was coverage on it. When I received my purchase the Xbox 360 did not work. The entire system is fried. Trying to return and exchange for a new one in store and they cannot process it saying there is no warranty on my product anymore it is past 30 days. Again I purchased a two year warranty when I purchased the product. I called customer support and I bought an Xbox 360 bundle for a Christmas gift for my child. It was a refurbished Xbox 360. I ordered on game stop.com. I had purchased a two year warranty on this item because it is a refurbished product I wanted to make sure there was coverage on it. When I received my purchase the Xbox 360 did not work. The entire system is fried. Trying to return and exchange for a new one in store and they cannot process it saying there is no warranty on my product anymore it is past 30 days. Again I purchased a two-year warranty when I purchased the product. I called customer support and they Told me they canceled my warrantee on me. I was never notified of this there is no reason for this and now I am stuck with a defective product that I paid almost $100 for. This online support is it a joke it should stick by its product. Order in store do not buy online"

"I wish I can give them 0 stars! I ordered a switch console on black friday so i can gift it to my daughter on christmas. UPS claims the package was delivered and left outside. I never received my package. I contacted GameStop about it and they said they would open an investigation. Weeks went by and I heard nothing from anyone. I reached back out and they said the package was lost and i would receive a refund in 3-5 business days. Over a week went by and nothing so I reached back out just to hear even though the package was left outside and went missing we cant help because it was delivered. I had to repurchase the nintendo so my daughter can have it on christmas and GameStop refuses to process my refund. They keep routing my calls to different countries. The representatives hang up on me.

HORRIBLE! Beware

"I ordered a christmas gift on cyber Monday. I was told shipping was free, the product was in stock, and it would arrive in 5-14 business days. 2 weeks later and still no shipping update. I waited 45 minutes while calling customer support and eventually they told me it was out of stock and they couldn't give me a date when it would become available. On top of this, they're trying to charge me $20 for shipping while when I processed my order it said Free Shipping. I have screenshot proof of this and they did nothing to correct it. So ridiculous for such a well known company as they clearly mislead you to get more orders. Will NEVER EVER shop with them again. "

Ordered popular black friday item.

"I purchased the PS4 slim bundle for $199 on black Friday no problem, I waited the three - four business days for it to process my order and give me shipping details, but nothing was making any progress. I thought it was just busy so I waited a couple more days until I called customer service, thankfully it didn't take hours to reach someone, but when I did he told me that my item was canceled and they only charge when they ship out the item... They never sent me a conformation about canceling the order and now I can't take advantage of the black Friday deal. Never purchasing anything from Gamestop again, and neither should you."
