Very poor customer relations.

"I had been a customer for over 10 years. For no reason other than my last payment was 1 day late they lowered my credit limit from 1000 to 200 dollars. Even though my account had a zero balance. I canceled my account and will now buy my games at walmart. I did not deserve this and my credit rating is good. Im done being intimidated by big business. Not only that the customer service is crappy. They allowed scalpers to secure thousands of ps5 machines while the rest of us still cant get one.
One very bad business.

Worst Customer Service Experience

"Gamestop's ecommerce store is horrendous. I paid for a preorder of Cyberpunk 2077, the collector's edition, for 270 dollars LAST YEAR with a card I no longer owned. I did this through paypal, I have a paypal receipt confirming -270 was taken out of my account.

I received an email yesterday saying my payment was declined and I needed to pay again by changing my payment method!! I'm so thankful I have paypal because I can still get a refund through them if they do end up charging me AGAIN to my new card.

Worst part of this whole interaction was their customer service line. I was in the queue for 30 minutes before a guy picked up, listened to my issue, and put me on hold for an HOUR. Did not do anything at all to help, did not do anything to let me know he was still on the line for an HOUR.

I hung up and called again. My boyfriend called at the same time and did a call back procedure. I waited 30 minutes, he received a call from gamestop, they tell him he's at "the top of the queue". We both wait AN ADDITIONAL HOUR in this queue. Finally, a lady picks up, and when I explain my frustration, she said there's no way they took the money out of my old account. Despite my paypal literally saying that's the case!!!! I got so mad and honestly I'm sorry for the lady that had me because I was mad at the company I was not mad at her, but it seemed that way. She "transferred" me to a supervisor. I waited ANOTHER HOUR!! and finally gave up.

I changed my payment method and am hoping my order doesn't get canceled.

I myself am a customer service phone-line representative. This was bottom teir customer service. Genuinely horrendous. Never am I ordering anything from you guys online again.

GameStop is the worst

"Dealing with GameStop.com was the worst shopping experience of my life. It’s like they go out of their way to do a bad job. I preordered a game that had instant bonuses. After countless emails, they didn’t send the codes. The worst part was that each answer was different. First, the codes would be sent shortly. Then it was still processing. Yes a preorder is still processing so what does that have to do with codes? They put my money on hold so I basically paid for it. Then they say it was only available while supplies lasted! HILARIOUS! Online codes somehow have a limited supply? So I cancelled and bought it through Xbox, receiving the codes INSTANTLY. I then tried to answer others who posted questions about not getting their codes on the GameStop site. Guess what? Their moderators blocked them saying it was moderated due to not complying with their policy. I didn’t swear or anything just simply told the others about what I went through and how bad customer service was. Then I tried writing that I cancelled and got the codes instantly from Xbox. Blocked that too. Apparently the site moderators censor ANYTHING that makes GameStop look bad. Completely shady, dishonest company. I did like their brick and mortar stores but from now on I will go out of my way to never spend a dime at GameStop. I really hope they go out of business they way of blockbuster video. They really aren’t needed and you can get everything they sell at other, better, more reputable retailers. "

Don't trust Gamestop!

"Don't trust Gamestop they use the Pandemic to ignore their customers. They don't answer emails or the phone and don't treat their customers right! Buyer Beware! They did not add my warranty at check with a refurbished game system. They did not respond to my emails. The stores were closed so I could not resolve at a local level. 3 months later when I finally got someone on the phone they refused to help me!!"

Shipping times are utter garbage! GameStop why bother even having an online business when shipping times are atrocious?

"I ordered 3 used games on your website on June 26th, it is now July 9th and the order still has not arrived.. I live in CA so its not some place of off the beaten path. The tracking shows delivery to be July 13th. That means it will be 17 days before I receive my order. That is absolutely insane in this day and age with all the shipping providers out there. If I would of known how ridiculously slow the shipping would have been from the get go I would have just gone to the store and picked the games up. With all due respect GS should comp me these games for free because of this Delay and inconvenience. I will make sure to share this experience with others. "

Online is a scam!

"I purchased cards and was supposed to receive bonus items. Nothing.
I followed up and they claimed it started after my purchase. The ad said otherwise. They changed their claim and never gave me the items.

Then they had another ad showing a specific item was on sale - both naming and picturing it. I had to fight with them and email them their own ad to get the right price.

Then they wouldn't let me use my points I'd earned. Two weeks of "set up a new account" or "we'll call you back" and still no solution.

So much false advertising from this company!

DO NOT SHOP AT GAMESTOP

"I wish i could give them a ZERO!! GameStop severely messed up my preorder but also has been avoiding doing anything about it. This my second time on hold with them and each time totally about 3HOURS EACH. This time i was on there for almost 3 HOURS and they didn't answer and gave me the busy dial tone! DO NOT SHOP AT GAMESTOP!!!"

Horrible

"I bought a copy of GTA w no warranty . The docs stopped working about 4 months after buying it. GameStop said I had to buy a new disc. Did that but bought the warranty this time , again disc stopped working . Went today to exchange under warranty, due to covid 19 no returns or exchanges. Said I have to buy the game again and then get a refund after this is over I said fine reluctantly I’ll buy a new game. He said you have to go online and buy I said fine I’ll do it from my car he said you can’t because it’s after 5 and orders after 5 can’t be filled till next day !! Done w GameStop ! "

DO NOT BUY ONLINE

"Bought a used X Box One console online
Bought a used X Box One console online, got it shipped, faltered in one day, got told via email return it asn process taske 25 days for return new item or over 90 days for refund, power brick bad asn it was obvious they knew it was as they stated this happens in 60% or more of calls. DONT BUY FORM THEM you WILL BE SCREWED! My child is upset, a local store decided to get another in 3-4 days (which tbh does NOT help but hey at least the manager was nice since it was ordered online instead of the store) IF this one cost more I WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN which is sad as I WAS a patron till now for over 13 years. Im disappointed in your services, customer support is null as you cant get them, email support ****. AGAIN NO ONE SHOULD EVER ORDER FROM THEM ONLINE, your device if NOT NEW will fault in the same month or week.

Horrible Customer Service!

"I ordered 2 items online and I also paid for faster shipping and handling. It should have taken about 3 to 5 days to arrived. On the 4th day, I checked the status of my order and it was still processing. No biggie right? I called them to cancel the order and the next day it was still active. I emailed them 4 times and it was still processing. Two weeks went by and I finally received the items that I purchased at Target instead of waiting because Gamestop could not give me an order status. I mean I paid extra, and I contacted them several times to cancel before the items left the warehouse. Go to Amazon, Target, Walmart etc instead."

cancelled order and won't refund gift card

"Purchased online from gamestop using gamestop gift card. Order was cancelled in by gamestop overnight but they had already taken money off the gift card. Called 6 times over the last 4 weeks and every time after explaining the situation they finally agree that they took the money off the gift card and promise that I will receive a new gift card over email. It never shows up in either spam or regular email. You can't talk to a manager they won't send an email immediately they say it has to be done by "the back shop". They steal your money. "

Do Not Shop at GameStop...unless

"DO NOT SHOP at GameStop...unless you are a criminal because that's how everyone is treated...by their policy.

Shop at Walmart, Target, BestBuy, Gamers Etc, or any other place that actually have companies where there are people in their company outside the store will do what's right even if the people in the store aren't always the best representatives of customer service. I couldn't even get someone higher than the incapable, disrespectful, uneducated (relating to California Law... calm down people) store manager Vanessa to discuss the situation with me...cowards. Plus, this is over a $40 controller COLOR! I just wanted a different color, which the other store (and practically every store in the world would tell you) told me I could do when the color came in.

All I ask anyone who cares about them-self is to ONE time stand up for the real customers, do not make your next electronics purchase at GameStop (even if just once) and quietly, defiantly, courageously say we will not accept being treated like a criminal because other people steal from you!

This is an extremely long story but it comes down to this....Vanessa the manager and the entire company do not care about treating an ACTUAL customer as a customer, they hide behind an illogical "policy" that treats everyone like a criminal.

You can choose to stop shopping at GameStop as I have, as my sons won't be, and as many people as I can get to see the light...but you don't have to if you don't want to. Keep shopping there, they need the money as I have read their stock price is down 60% at the third quarter, and I see that stores are closing. You may not want to get anything that has an extended warranty because they may be out of business before you can bring back your item. Good luck out there Vanessa, I hope your resume is up to date.

The policy - To do an even exchange (even accompanied by a valid receipt, unopened box, sent from the Lower Sac GameStop, no reason to believe any form of fraud or deceit was occurring, and the fact that no money was being returned) they must have you state your home address. Several conversations by phone could not get anyone higher than the brazenly awful Store manager Vanessa who illegally believes she can refuse service to anyone (which you can't except for certain situations) and doesn't even know how to use her own Point of Purchase system (as evidenced by her coming to "help" me and not knowing that it would ask for the address to do the exchange (which the cashier had already told her I refused to provide) or how to circumvent it when a customer declines to provide their personal home information (I did provide them a current cell phone number). Neither Vanessa nor the original cashier denied the exchange (they both tried to do it but froze up when I said that they didn't need my home address). The law states that I have a right and companies must at my request delete personal data (so why do they have a policy that claims I have to provide it).

The 3 in store problems:
*They BELIEVE that store policy overrides the law
*They DO NOT have a way to verify my home address anyway (which means yes I could have given them any address but I did not on principle)
*They DID NOT deny the exchange until I would not comply with the unlawful DEMAND of personal information at which time they took both controllers. REMEMBER, I already owned the merchandise and they took it from me and placed it behind the counter when they denied the exchange. I had to remind them that they are stealing my property before they gave it back.

The law says that they must have a posted return policy...or blah blah blah. They do, I met all requirements of it, and nowhere does it say that you have to give private information. Not to mention...HAVE YOU SEEN HOW MANY COMPANIES ARE GETTING CUSTOMER INFORMATION STOLEN!!

Now, why the whole company? They investigated and believe the store can do what they did (stupidly not fixing the problem). However, they told me twice and twice I waited for someone to contact me but nobody has the intestinal fortitude to follow up with me. They know that they're wrong because if I gave them YOUR address they would have accepted it. I could have just played their game but remember...I already have the merchandise, I just wanted a different color, I don't need a different color.

So, they have lost a life long customer over a non-monetary even exchange and I will no longer make purchases at any GameStop, I control the purchasing power of three sons who are gamers who will no longer shop at any GameStop, and I influence the decisions of thousands of high school students...good luck GameStop, you'll need it! Lol

P.S. Their "Going Out of Business, Everything Must Go" sale was selling PS4 controllers for $20 more than they were just on sale for and $10 more than Walmart's regular price! They are still trying to rip you off when they are promoting great "Going Out of Business" deals? What deals!?

This is by far the worst online purchasing experience I have ever had.

"This is by far the worst online purchasing experience I have ever had. It took a week for the unit to ship after it was ordered. I sent an email asking when the unit would be shipped and it took a week for someone to get back to me. All they did was give me a tracking number. and tell me to look in my spam. If the email was going to spam, then the email they sent telling me to check my spam would have also gone to spam.... If they had looked up the tracking number they would have seen the package had already been delivered rendering their email moot anyway. I opened the package and one of the external doors was broken (prior to being sent as the broken off portion of the arms were not in the unit or box). The unit was also filthy and stickers left on it. I cannot believe the store it came from sent it that way.

I took it to the local Gamestop at Northtown Mall in Minneapolis MN. They where great! They cleaned the unit inside and out. They replaced the door (not red like the unit but not their fault). They even made sure the unit was working. They also noticed that I was not sent the nun-chuck part of the controller and got me one before i left. The staff at the store is the only thing that kept me from just swearing off of Gamestop permanently.
