"Horrible!!! I talked to a person name Sammie and he did not care that they screwed up our pickup and promised a truck to pick up our order. We are now in jeopardy of losing a huge account. If you are a small company do not use them. "

"Horrible Experience!
They assign you multiple tracking numbers (none of which were actually correct) and ship your material through multiple contractors so you have no idea WHERE your shipment is or even WHO has it at the moment. I had to investigate on my own to find out who they subcontract to and contact them directly to find out where my shipment was. You pay for expedited shipping and get standard shipping that takes 4+ weeks to deliver. I could have walked the shipment to my house faster than this! I received a call on a Tuesday stating my shipment would be delivered to my house on Friday. Took off work to sign for the shipment only to find out from the local contractor it's not even due in until next week. Try calling them to confirm the shipment? Why bother? They don't answer their phones either! over 30 minutes on hold each time I called (twice) to have NOBODY answer the phone during business hours....all while listening to their prerecorded hold messages of how customer service is their priority and they'll "be right back." on the line. Meanwhile, I still do not have my order!!! DO NOT SHIP ANYTHING THROUGH FREIGHTCENTER.COM!!!

"This is my best, objective, opinion of Freight Center based upon my experience and subsequent disagreements with this company over the last 12 months.

I had priced the shipping of two kayaks from several carriers and brokers and Freight Center was the lowest price. The rep was extremely helpful, though, in hindsight, he did mention that the a customer he recently worked with had some trouble with overcharges since his items didn't exactly correspond (weight and/or dimensions) to what was apparently provided to this rep. Well, I certainly wish I had listened to that voice in my head warning me that this is an odd place to begin a conversation around a shipping transaction.

I gave the exact, dimensions and weight of my kayaks. We talked endlessly about their being bubble-wrapped and not boxed. He explained (very helpfully) about there being no insurance options available from carriers and even recommended a place with whom I could speak (including my own insurance company). Fine, I'll gamble with no insurance as the merchant I purchased the kayaks from assured me they would be fine.

After following their strict instructions for labeling, etc. it took an extra few days for the pickup to arrive after many assurances that someone was sent or was on their way. The kayaks were eventually picked up and arrived perfectly at my local shipper. I strapped them to my SUV's roof and drove happily along...

...until shortly after I got home I began getting messages from Freight Center's automated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system alerting me to the fact that my credit card has been charged $200 because my kayaks weighed 300 pounds over what I reported (more on that later) triggering a new class for my shipment.

I tried several times to get a human to speak with and finally did when I threatened to challenge the charges with my credit card company. I was informed that Freight Center was challenging the disputed charge on my behalf and it could take 120 business days to resolve and further, I cannot be part of the process.

Great, I'm $200 out and at the mercy of the terms and conditions I signed with Freight Center and must wait 5-6 months.

...5-6 months later and they sided against me. I worked with my credit card company for the next 3 months and two rounds of escalation and my credit card company agreed with me. But that is not the end is it? No.

From there I was sent an official notice that their Accounts Payable department would sue me for the money. It is now literally, 12 months later. I was only too happy to hear from them as ALL I EVER WANTED TO DO WAS MAKE MY CASE TO A HUMAN AND NEGOTIATE A SETTLEMENT. I had offered via their CRM system to meet them in the middle and pay $100 (under protest) and heard no response. I made this same offer twice when they threatened to sue and neither time was contacted.

I ended up making a deal with the person from accounts payable just to make this year-long horror show go away.

BOTTOM LINE:
If you deal with Freight Center you will indemnify them for any issues between what you ship and who ships it (standard practice in the industry of course). In my case, I was told that the kayaks were unboxed and that is what actually triggered the overages. In fact, I was informed the carrier (not to be confused with the broker Freight Center) labeled the overages as 300 lbs overweight so the charge would be $200 and not more if actually based on an unboxed shipment. The point is, I had no way to defend myself or choose what class my shipment was. I only know I have the rep accurate information and we had many, many discussions about these items being unboxed and despite that when things went expensively wrong, I had no voice and their terms and conditions bound me to silence.

Freight Center, you preach Customer Service at every opportunity. I just don't see it and certainly didn't feel it. Your automated system is cold and rigid and it seems you hide behind it. In my case, a conversation would have saved us both money as you paid for two charge backs from my credit card company.

I hope this review is helpful. If you use this or another shipping broker ask them what can go wrong, what will happen if things do go wrong and what can be done upfront to assure nothing does. Good luck.

"Worst Freight Company I have ever used. Added additional fees to the bill and refuses to remove them. What I ordered and what the carrier charged for are very expensively different. Do not use this company!!!"

"If you want to get your shipment from Connecticut to Hawaii and every single company wants to charge you as if you were shipping the whole state - contact FreightCenter. They were quick and efficient in arranging everything on a very short notice and my stuff was in my apartment in less than 2 weeks. And their price for the shipping was lower than any other company's."

"Do not use this company. They do not take any responsibility for the services they charge for, or any damage. Even if they change or do not follow through on the agreed & paid for packaging specs on the purchase order, resulting in damaged goods. They also use shippers that do not insure their services. it could be smashed by a forklift and you could have every possible form of documentation, and neither they nor their truckers would take any financial responsibility. Their contract fine print requires you to buy extra insurance or you are without recourse. What kind of freight company does not carry insurance for damaged goods? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR FREIGHT.

"Will never use again, after being lied to, then telling me they would refund my money they withheld 15% for restocking fee. Fee to restock what, my money? I paid them then after finding out they lied to me I asked for my restocking fee and they told me that they would credit if I ever used them with in 90 days, why would I use them after they lied to me. Terrible business ethic. "

"Worst company I ever delt with and will never use them again. They don't give you correct instructions needed in the process, then just before your shipment arrives, they tell you there's a problem with paperwork and won't release your cargo unless you pay more money. Absolute scum. Will never recommend them to anyone"

"Beware of cancellation fees, even when they screw up. I was promised they could deliver a motorcycle if it was picked up on a specific date. Then the driver (from Haul Bikes) called nearly a week early, the bike was not ready, so I declined the pickup. Then, I am blamed for "declining" the pickup even though it was a week earlier than agreed upon. Bad policies, bad company, stay away. They don't care about the customer, they only care about the money. STAY AWAY!"

"Our company has used Freight Center for our occasional shipping needs (1-5 times a year). For the most part, they have really helped smooth out the process for us. We've had a couple glitches, but eventually they get worked out. Our reps John Stockhausen (domestic) and Lauren Ramsey (international) have been helpful in the past. More recently, I used the chat feature for some questions and Ben Matthews was great - he was very thorough and made some adjustments that saved us money! While we've not been thrilled about some weight adjustments or additional fees being charged before notifying us, those have come from the freight carriers we selected. Overall, FreightCenter has done well by us by providing quick comparisons, answering questions, and arranging successful shipments with (normally) little to no hassle. "

"No complaints at all. My company uses them a couple times a month on average. Freightcenter's volume allows them to give me much better pricing than we could get direct from the carriers. Never any issues.

After reading some of the negative comments, it sounds to me like customer mistakes, and ignorance as it relates to booking freight shipments are the reasons for the issues they've encountered. Freight carriers are quick to hit you with additional fees if there is ANY discrepancy (weight, dimensions, dock/fork lift availability, etc.) in your bill of lading.

I deal with Shannon, and whenever I have a question, or have a shipment that's out of my "norm", I have her do the booking for me.

"I have only had good experiences and have used them for all my shipping the past 12 years. I think people are confusing issues they have with the carriers and blaming Freightcenter. Oh well, not untypical for people leaving bad reviews... Just make sure you use the correct weight.. "

"Very bad experience!! I shipped a GM specialty service tool on a pallet to Newfoundland Canada direct from Old Dominion Terminal in Pittston Pa. I had the weight at 75lbs. The freight carrier (Old Dominion) assessed the weight at 140lbs. So they back charged me $271!! My freightcenter rep told me if I originally had the weight at 140lbs the additional charge would have been around $40?? My freightcenter rep agreed this was a ridiculous over charge and told me the resolution team would get some if not all of my money back. They did not as of 2 1/2 months later. I continuously get the run around when I inquire about this. Always waiting on this person or another to approve a my partial refund... Which I was told would only be $125... I would not use freightcenter.com or Old Dominion Freight. Once you agree to freightcenters terms they can charge your credit card at will after the fact without your specific permission. Also I did provide proof the shipment was not 140lbs but you are at their mercy. I ship maybe 6-10 shipments a year for my small business. My rep was always good but this situation has soured me on ever using this company again."
