Buyer Beware

"Buyer beware- I bought this camper
( first time buyer ) from what I thought was a reputable dealer. When you buy from hear there will be about a $1300 charge on top of you negotiating price to prep the camper, after agreeing to a price and getting financing approved they move you onto the service end, I was told they did a thorough inspection including a leak test and inspection of the operation of all appliances etc , when I did my walk through with the service dept the service technician showed me the trailer operation and told me what he found including a leak in the back of camper with he fixed and some small little things, he also let me know that the awing was ripped when they were cleaning camper and I should get the sales dept to pay for it which after they tried to get me to pay half of they agreed to fix it , I had concerns about the floor of the camper being soft by the door but was reassured that the was was good and dry and the little hump in the floor was from in being cut a little to big when assembled, and if it was wet and soft it would be sunken in , when I checked the camper again for leaks the floor was crunching like breaking ice confirming my thoughts, I have tried contacting Paul the sales manager who assured me in 15 mins I would receive a call back never happened, I called service the next day and was told they wanted to talk to the technician and would call by 1pm , never called (3) days later I called my salesman who went to the sales manager again who was going right to service manager but never received a call back, I know have to pay my lawyer to take care of this issue because camping world is a scum dealer to deal with .. so buyer beware when dealing with camping world - research the reviews like I should have

BUYER BEWARE

"BUYER BEWARE --

If you're under the guise that buying an RV from what seems to be a reputable dealer is the way to go; make sure you do your homework about their policies and procedures, and bring your own mechanic.

If you plan on spending 50% in markups in comparison to Facebook Marketplace because you think your concern will be prioritized, do yourself a favor and find an extended warranty to purchase for 10% of the selling price, and buy from ANYWHERE else.

My experience may be one very unique, specific one; but at this point, after working with the company for 6 weeks, including Marcus Lemonis's office directly, it is one to be aware of.

The Story:
We bought an RV in mid-October. It had been inspected by Camping World and was a 2017 Thor. We believed Camping World to be a reputable company, and Thor to be reliable, and therefore, we proceeded with the purchase.

Within 3 days we contacted our Sales Representative Virgil Swarts to inform him of a loss of power issue and hydraulic codes being reported by the dash of the RV. He asked us to call the service department, which we did promptly. They informed us they could not accept the RV until 11/30; to which we replied would not be acceptable due to the cancellation of a trip already, assuming we bought a quality product that met the rigorous inspection required by Camping World before sale. Between contacting the Service Department and Virgil a few times, we were able to get it back into the Service Department within a week of purchase.

At this point, we thought the hiccups would be resolved and we could move on. We were planning to move to Kentucky in the RV on December 12, and the issues would definitely be resolved before then right? We just bought the thing. Marcus Lemonis definitely takes more pride in his work than teh average Joe on facebook right?

Here we are. Today is December 12. We’ve had to arrange $6000 of expenses in flights, cars, and hotels. I will have to be with the children on the flight by myself so my husband can drive the dogs in our car. The Service Manager has no expectation of the RV being done today.

We’ve asked multiple channels if they could keep the RV to do a thorough review of it, cancel our contract, and sell it to another family. They’ve refused.

We asked if they would at least ship it since we will be so far away, and as a family of 9, it would be a nightmare for us to send myself or my husband alone to retrieve it and they’ve refused.

They do not stand by their friendliness, service or product. Beware of the canned schpiel they give you. They DO NOT support the buyer after purchase.

Again, this was just our experience, but throughout this, we have worked with every aspect of the dealership and service department and have not had a good experience. Just be educated prior to patronizing this place. It’s been a nightmare for us.

Not worthy of one Star!

"The experience with the Manassas Virginia Camping World and Corporate office of Marcus Lemonis has been absolutely awful! The lack of urgency to resolve the issues, lack of respect and complete discrimination towards paying customers is disgusting!

We purchased a used RV in October 2022 and are in the resolution stages of an issue which was to be repaired shortly after purchasing. Just today, November 21, 2023, over a year, we have come to a resolution, however still not a happy customer!

During our test drive, prior to purchasing, we experienced a death wobble while driving on Sudley Manor Dr. The entire unit shook violently. We were all in shock and terrified. The salesman was at a loss for words and upon return to dealership, shared the experience with his DM. With that said we were told if purchased the death wobble, along with a few minor repairs (back up lights, etc.) the issues will be fixed. This was October 2022. Long story short, our RV was in the care of Camping World from November 2022 to May 2023 when we picked it up and still experienced the death wobble! During November 2022 to May 2023 the communications with the DM, head of service department and the service department was total disrespect, turned to be signs of discrimination. Our RV’s issue was not a major concern or priority. We reached out to corporate, Marcus Lemonis’ office and felt we would get the assistance needed. Well we were wrong. We went through months of spotty communication, 2 case managers, a supervisor manager and then a regional manager got involved in September 2023. We continuously went back and forth and waited weeks to get responses. Once a letter was sent stating we were done with trying to resolve the death wobble issue and expected a refund for our vehicle, things started moving, slowly! Camping World promised to fix the issue and was responsible for finding mechanics to do just that. They did send it to 2 locations between November 2022 and May 2023, however decided not to go with the recommended fix and use in house mechanic to replace king pins and motherboard. , which did not fix the issue. After picking RV up and still experiencing issue and waiting for communication from Camping World Manassas and corporate, we took our RV to a mechanic over 40 miles away. Remember we still have the death wobble and our safety as well as the other drivers on the road are in jeopardy. We received an estimate from the mechanic and corporate states they will only cover half of the estimate. Not acceptable for us. The longevity to come to a conclusion to fix the death wobble, the disrespect and discrimination to only cover partial is crazy. So we now go another month to resolve with corporate and the Regional Market Manager is now getting involved. We have a scheduled meeting to discuss payment of estimate and the treatment and of course 10 minutes into waiting for the meeting, we are told it needs to be rescheduled. So with numerous calls and emails after no communication as to date of rescheduled meeting, we finally get a call, Nov. 21, 2023 to have said meeting, without the Regional Market Manager. The proposed resolution was Camping World will cover full estimate with us the customer signing a release stating all and any other issues are null and void. The human resource issue with the disrespect, discrimination and amount of time to correct this issue will not be looked at other than in house as a training opportunity for employees. Camping World felt no compensation was needed.
Wow! So I do not recommend purchasing or dealing with Camping World at all and especially the Manassas VA location!
“If you’re not happy, I’m not happy.”. - Marcus Lemonis.
We are not happy!

Run away fast from camping world

"I would not even give them a 1 star! Camping world Oxford Alabama has made our life missable. And corporate is evil!. So sneaky and liars! Had to take our 2021 camper in 6 times in 11 months! And they made it worse with more repairs each time.
Communication terrible. Had to drive there several times to get any information! Hour each way! Will Never go to any camping world again!

Liars, Scammers, and Toxic Customer Service, DO NOT go here

"LIARS, SCAMMERS, TOXIC and ROTTEN customer service here. We purchased an RV on April 29, 2023 for $77,132.50 CASH. We were never told there was still a lien against the vehicle. Instead, we were told directly by Michelle Hyman that the title was free and clear and that we would receive it within a week. After completing the paperwork and leaving with the vehicle, I called Connie Tuite a week later to inquire about the title. She informed me that the document was in another office and that she would mail it to me the following day. After another week went by and I had not received it, I called and talked to Michelle Hyman, who told me that the reason the title hadn't been mailed to me was because there was a lien against the vehicle. Gravely concerned as I was blatantly lied to by the very same person about the status of the title, I called Connie Tuite and informed her that sales associate Michelle stated that there was a lien against the vehicle and so no title would be forthcoming to me. Connie said blatantly that "Michelle is full of $%^& and doesn't know what she's talking about," taking a strong stance against her co-worker, and insisted she was just delayed in her work and would get the title to me "soon." However, during a follow-up call, Connie then begrudgingly admitted that there was indeed a lien against the vehicle. Camping World used our funds to payoff the lien about a week or ten days after the sale, without ever telling us anything about this situation.

After finally admitting the truth, Connie indicated that she would overnight a plate and registration to me while I waited for the previous owner's bank to release the lien, at which time Connie indicated that she would have the title sent to me. After several promises regarding communication about this issue were broken, I called and talked to Keith, a sales manager. I explained the situation to him and how concerned I was about the behavior of Camping World employees. I asked specifically to speak to the General Manager of the dealer, Gavin Lutz. Keith told me that Gavin was on vacation, but that he guaranteed that he would have Gavin call me as soon as he was back. That call never happened and as of today, August 18, I have never been contacted by the responsible party for this dealership.

Months went by with no communication from Camping World. Co-owner of this vehicle called Connie Tuite on August 16. I monitored this call. Connie became irate when Jackie informed her that Camping World had not followed through on its legal obligations to us. Connie insisted that she had titled the vehicle properly in the name of someone named "Joe," even asking Jackie if that is her husband. We have no idea who this person is. As Jackie was trying to clarify Connie's position that her responsibilities were done, Connie hung up abruptly on Jackie. I immediately called and asked to speak to Gavin Lutz, but was told he was not available and so again was put on the phone with Keith, the sales manager. When I informed Keith that we were preparing to file various complaints on this issue, he flatly stated that if we filed complaints or took any negative action against them that they would cease all communications with us. He then again guaranteed me that he would have Gavin return my call on August 17. That call never happened.

I would have never purchased any vehicle without a clear title. Camping World representatives lied about this, tried to cover up the issue, have changed the dates of the sale, and have violated the 30-day timeframe in which they are required to provide proper documentation. It has now been approximately 4 months and we do not have a title for this vehicle despite being assured of a clean title and paying $77k cash. DISGUSTING, this business needs criminal charges and to be shut down.

Active service retired and disabled veterans beware do not do business with camping world

"I bought a palomino camper new from camping world after I was told they do a complete inspection before it leaves a lot, they either lied, or they knew the water system was broke the hot water heater was broke the thermostat was broke, trailer flooded out first time I hooked up water. Multitude of other issues. The camping world promise that if I was out of state and had problems that any camping world would put me at the top of the list and make sure I was back on the road. My wife's first trip out of state was supposed to be awesome. The Jack system to raise the roof on our camper gave out. Took it to camping world Colorado who stated they did not have time to look at it! But had plenty of time to try to tried to get me to take a 17,000 loss and trade mine in for a new one? That left me and my disabled wife sleeping in the cab of my truck for six nights, and had to stop our trip and drive 1200 miles back to Oregon. I thought I was being reasonable when I asked them to just unwind that deal use the money I was into that trailer for a down payment on another one because that one is complete junk! I'm out about 15,000 just in Lost work driving back and forth for service work to the tune of maybe 3,000 miles. Camper is sitting in Medford Oregon at their camping world. I let them know I do not want that trailer back! There is no fixing in it it's beyond all that. They like to waive that American flag over their dealership. But they will screw disabled vets and active service personnel any chance they can. How American is that?

Stay away from Thornburg VA for repairs

"Hello~

The term “Happy Camper” is certainly not applying to me.

On August 5 I called your Thornburg VA location to check about getting a repair, Shannon informed me that the 1st available appointment was for August 14 at 9am, I explained that my fiancé was the only one that could take it there so I would have to check with him as it is a work day and he would have to take time off, he leaves fir work at 3am and does not return home until 5pm, we live 30 miles as the crow flies, approximately an hour drive if the traffic is good. I called back and confirmed that if the appointment was still available, I would take it, she suggested that if I could get the Travel Trailer there by 4pm, on that day (Saturday) they could hold it there until the scheduled repair. I also requested the free roof inspection that Camping World offered me when I made the purchase of the Travel Trailer, I was told to make sure all stowaways and doors were to be unlocked, which is unsettling but I was assured the Travel Trailer would be stored behind a high, electric fence. We all agreed to the above.

The Travel Trailer was checked in sometime around 12 noon on the 5th, It was explained to me a diagnostic would have to be done at the charge of $97 and if that and any repairs needed could be done before the 14th, they hoped to fit us in, we agreed to that offer. About 1 hour later I received a text from Shanon explaining an error in the price she quoted me for the diagnostic, I was a bit miffed, but it is what is and I agreed to the newly quoted diagnostic price. I sent Shannon back a text with the claim number from my insurance company, which she responded to.

Monday the 14th comes and I hear nothing. I placed a call at 4:10, 4:31 (3x), 4:32 (2x), 4:33, and finally 6:38. The multiply calls were because I kept getting hung up on, one I cancelled because it did not go through. The last call I was informed that the shop was closed but someone would contact me the next day. I received no call. On the 15th I called at 10:21am asking what was going on with my Travel Trailer, I was told that computers were down and nothing was known, not even if the diagnostic was done, but it would be checked on and I would receive a call. No one called me back.

Today, August 16, I made an attempted call at 10:29 and was hung up on, I called back at 10:30 and requested the service manager, I was told she was not available. I gave a quick rundown of what I have explained here and was told the service manager would call me back, I still have received no word. I now realized I was NEVER given any contract, papers or work order stating that my Travel Trailer was dropped off for repairs, NOTHING…this is unsettling as I realize someone can come in and possibly remove my Travel Trailer, pretending they are the owner.

All the above is unacceptable. I worked CS for years and would never have given this service, or rather lack there of, to anyone out of the respect I had for them, my organization and myself.

I will be writing a scathing review on social media and all internet platforms regarding the Thornburg Camping World location. I regret having purchased my Travel Trailer from Camping World and I regret taking it there for any repairs that have not occurred.

Buyer Beware

"Do not buy a camper or anything for that matter from Camping World in Uxbridge, MA. I have had the worst experience since stepping foot on their property.
It all started when my wife and I stopped by to look at some slightly used campers. We had actually done our homework and looked for a few via their website. We picked one out and then there was the whole "How much can you afford for a monthly payment?" deal. We had a used camper to trade in, so I gave them a figure. Then the finance guy states that the payment will be $X. Pressured us to sign for this payment on a piece of paper. Reluctantly, I signed.
We go to pick up the camper via an appointment that we were told would be to sign papers and take camper home. What a joke that was.
We sit down with a different finance resource and the payment is completely different than what I had signed the evening of picking our camper. It was actually less, so wasn't too disappointed. Just disappointed in the forcing of me signing on a number that didn't align with the final figure.
So now we think we can take the camper home. Ha Ha Ha.
Head outside the service center to find that the camper is not ready.
It didn't have the hitch that we had purchased with the original paperwork even though I had a hitch on the my old camper that they said was not good for the new camper. What a joke.

So, now we go through the walkthrough, which because we are experienced campers, they said was not completely necessary. Also signed some paperwork that they took us through it which cost us $400. What another joke.

We then notice that this 2021 camper had issues with the stabilizer jacks, so we request that they are fixed. We also noticed that there were some issues we brought up the day we looked at the camper and committed to purchase that were not fixed. This included some sealing around the tire wheel wells.

So, we state we want them fixed and what a hack job they did that evening we picked up the camper.

Then there was no paperwork with the camper as well as no extra key.
At this point, they needed to fix the wheel well sealant, stabilizer jacks (replaced 2 of 4) and add the stabilizer hitch we purchased. It was a work week night, so I state, I will be back tomorrow to pick up. Ha Ha Ha.

So, I show up the next day and the work is still not completed by the time they said it would.

Also the service manager stated he would get me a extra key. Still have not received that key to date (almost 2 months since purchase).

And finally, the ultimate disappointment. We get our trailer (After finally all the issues addressed) to our new seasonal site. I check the sewer and its full. I am assuming it had been full since last season as it was early (early April when we first committed to purchasing) in this season.

I am still dealing with trying to completely flush the black tank out. I have tried some bio degradable stuff to break it down better, but it still doesn't seem to want to completely empty. Oh, and when I reached out to Camping World regarding this, they said to bring it in to them. It was already set up over 1 hour away at our seasonal site.

Completely disappointed with Camping World and will never step foot on their property again.

Buyer beware.

I don't know how they stay in business

"I tried to order online but had issues. So I called in an order. Nice enough guy I talked to to place the order. I even paid extra to have it shipped in two days, since the part was critical. Two days pass and no part. Three days pass and still no part. So I call the next morning and customer service tells me the order was canceled. Why? Customer service couldn't tell me why. Never contacted me by phone or email. When I looked at my checking account, they refunded me the money but not the extra $20 I paid for the two day shipping. And the thing that really made me mad is that they refunded me the money two days after the order was supposed to arrive. So here I sit in the dark because the part was a power convertor. Thanks CW. Its gonna be a long weekend."

Don’t get fooled! Go somewhere else!

"I bought a new camper with warranty from camping world and during the hard freeze last Christmas 2022, the heater went out and that caused the pipes to bust. The camper is supposed to be made for cold weather. The bottom of it is completely enclosed with insulation and heating to prevent the pipes from bursting as long as the heater works. They’re saying it’s operator error and refusing to fix it. Now I’m stuck with this faulty camper needing lots of repairs because they won’t admit to selling me junk. I will never get anything from camping world or good Sam and I will continue to write reviews in hopes of saving others getting scammed out of their money."

DO NOT BUY FROM CAMPING WORLD

"Update 2/26/23:
Doing my own repairs for things the b.s. warranty would cover. I still don't recommend camping world and their con game. The good sam stuff they sign you up for is crap too. Plus their store discount isn't a deal either, better prices elsewhere. All-in-all, worst purchase experience ever, would never recommend.

I was conned into the extended plans which are BS...I bought a campervan not a big RV that requires intensive maintenance. I should have purchased from Bretz RV...I paid close to 7500 more (plus 100 deductible if you need a repair) for a a warranty I argued about. I do my own maintenance and have never used an extended warranty for anything I have purchased new. Camping World scammed me....I've already made my own repairs on some of the deficiencies in construction, can I charge them for that? I'd say 7500 would do.

Camping World of Asheville

"Camping World Service is a waste of your money and time. Their Technicians are not trained, and the turnover is high. The charge for fake services they don't or can do properly, and do not care about customer service. Continue reading to hear my issues.

Had a RV systems check done. Everything passed. However, after a few days at home, my Propane alarm went off. I replaces the sensor, since they checked for leaks already and it passed, and the sensor was about 6 or 7 years old. However that was not the problem. I purchase my own leak detector and found 3 propane valves leaking. There systems check, including a water column check of the propane found no leaks (and the water column check is supposed to be the most accurate). Must not be trained in the use of it, or just faked the check. After taking it back for the leak, they could only find 2 of the leaks (after I told them of the three leaks found and where). I havd to explain the 3rd leak location exactly, then they found it. This is RIDICULOUS. They were going to order parts, but after 133 days, and not hearing anything back from them, they lost track of the request for parts, then wanted me to pay over $1000 for them just to order them (for three valves). Again RIDICULOUS. Then they insisted I pay for work I already paid for, 4 months earlier. Again, RIDICULOUS. Then they said I need to order the parts. I spent and hour online and found all three, brand new. They said if I find the parts they would install them (for a cost) If that is the case I can go elsewhere. In any case I found all the parts within about an hour online (total, just over $200), not the over $1000 they claimed. Again, RIDICULOUS. And this is what they do for a business. Needless to say, I will have the parts installed elsewhere, with real technicians.

I also paid to have a Sealtech leak service, they indicated they found the leak, patched it up (charged for the test and the repair. But the leak is still there. There is a year warranty on the work, but taking it in may be a waste of time.

Ok keep in mind, the total time my RV was at Camping world was over a month (two trips, one for the initial service and Sealtech, and another trip to have them verify the leaks they missed, so they can order parts, they did not order, then say 4 months later I needed to pay $1000 in order to order parts, the could not find. RIDICULOUS.

I contacted Sealtech to inquire if they are qualified to do the Sealtech work. They indicated that should be. But Sealtech just sells the product. I guess Camping World just fakes it and takes your money.

So to summarize:

1. RV at Camping World for at least 3 weeks to do a System Check and the SealTech. Both of which they failed at doing correctly

2. Another week to have them verify what they missed with the Propane leak, which I had to find. Did they offer any credit for the inferior work they did and caused me to drive over an hour each was, twice for them to figure it out. "NO".

3. Not ordering the parts for 4 months, then telling me I had to pay over a $1000 for order the parts.

4. Claiming I had not paid a previous bill, and that is why they did not order the parts. Of which management had to figure out I already paid my previous bill.

5 They telling me I had to order the parts myself, they they would install (at there RIDICULOUS rates, with poor quality Technicians).

6. I ordered the 3 valves within about an hour for just over $200 with tax and shipping.

I found another RV repair, explained this to them. They seem to have heard about some of these same issue with Camping World, and there lack of quality service. I imagine, that is why they keep busy.

Horrible company

"I bought a Kathy Ireland modular recliner set online in march 2022. On one side the cushion is already completely broke down. I reached out to camping world and asked what could be done. The kept me waiting on a resolution for 2 weeks. They finally responded yesterday and said that I should take my couch to a camping world location ( I don't have a vehicle to move a couch) and that they SHOULD be able to help me as it is still under warranty. When I asked what my warranty was so I would be informed when going to the location I was told that they could not tell me that information but that someone at the store SHOULD be able to look it up.I have not had one good word to say about them to anyone since buying our motorhome but this is just the icing on the cake. If you want to peacefully live in your motorhome or rv DO NOT deal with camping world!!!"
