"Ten days after ordering a camcorder, I got a call from the store informing me that I bought a stripped down product (lacking items like battery, charger and cables that any other retailer includes) and that if I wanted the accessories necessary to make the item functional, the cost would practically double. When directly asked, the caller reluctantly admitted that the product I had bought was the Japanese market version (which of course would render the various buttons labeling and the extensive touch screen menus incomprehensible to me). When I informed the caller that in that case I wished to cancel the order, he hung up on me. Do not under ANY circumstances consider dealing with these con artists."

"I have never been treated so rudely by a customer service rep like this. I was given a phone call and told " I do not know what I'm talking about " and that my order has been erased and to quote the rep " I WISH YOU WERE ERASED. " I have never before owned a Cannon 5D. Can I not buy one? What is wrong with that? The person who called me on the phone to confirm the internet order was very unprofessional and rude. I will not ever buy from this company and whomever hired this man is on crack."

"I attempted to order a Canon PowerShot SD630 for a great price. That evening I was called to "verify my order". Knowing the scam where these shady camera vendors call to sell accessories I was well prepared. Well sure enough, I was offered accessories and when I said no and asked if my order would be canceled now the person on the other end laughed nervously. He said I'd need a battery since it didn't include a battery. Having bought two other Canon cameras in recent years I knew this was a lie. When I asked he said it was a gray market camera. I said no thanks and he said it would take four weeks to ship the camera from Japan.

He used every lie in the book to get me to cancel. The site lists the camera as brand new and no where does it say it doesn't include certain accessories. This reseller is a scam. Had I paid for a few hundred dollars in accessories I know I would recieve a brand new retail camera. Avoid them.

"This company is Horrible. I ordered a camera online, then they called me to tell me to confirm it. When I did they told me I ordered the import model and it is going to be a long time until they can ship it. Also they kept trying to sell me a different thing for twice the original price. It has been 3 weeks and I called to track shipping and they tried to sell me something else again, and they said they did not know when my camera was coming in. bottom line: Horrible service, and Horrible ability to provide the customer what they claim to. BAIT AND SWITCH"

"HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service. Classic internet bait and switch. This company may have the lowest internet prices on top model electronics, but PLEASE, PLEASE do yourself a favor and DO NOT be tempted by the low prices. I ordered a Sony DSC-T7 digital camera and a DCR-HC90 miniDV camcorder. The next day after I ordered my items, I received a call from customer service. The "helpful" customer service person told me BOTH my items were in stock and ready to ship, however before they did, would I be interested in getting another battery for the digital camera and carrying cases for both. He told me the digital camera I ordered came with a battery that would not last long. After declining several times, I finally took the case for an extra $14.99. Approximately 2 weeks later, my digital camera did arrive (I live in NJ and the store is located in NYC!!) My camcorder did not. My camera was the Sony DSC-T7 however, this was an imported model, not normally for sale in the US. The manual it included was only in Japanese, NO ENGLISH! I called customer service and was put on hold for 30 minutes (after getting busy signals for 15 minutes before I even got thru) The customer service rep claimed that all my items had shipped correctly. I explained how my camcorder had not arrived and at this point I wanted to cancel my order, he then hung up on me!! After calling back and getting thru 1 hour later I asked to speak to a supervisor and was disconnected again. 10 emails and 50 phone calls to customer service later, I have still not received a refund of $510 for the camcorder I never received. BUYER BEWARE. This company should be closed down!"

"We are incredibly unhappy with this store. We purchased a camera which was listed as "in stock". Someone called us to "confirm" the sale, and we were told that the only camera available was one with many extras, costing much more than the purchase price that we had paid. When we told them that we wanted the one we had bought, we were told that it was on backorder and would take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. Not only is this deceptive business practice, it's a bait and switch, advertising something that you have no intention of delivering. We cancelled the sale and advise others not to do business with them."

"CCI Camera City are total rip-offs and scam artists. Stay away at all cost! After reading some of the reviews here I decided to visit their store personally, since I live in New York,
and try to purchase the Panasonic DVX100A camera paying in cash ( I would never give them my cc#).
I thought their prices were too good to pass up and I had to give it a try. I drove to their address with a friend of mine and was very surprised to find a tiny little dark store with a display totally covered by an old poster showing some old digital cameras.
We went inside and there were these three Jewish guys sitting right next to entrance in front of two computers and talking on the phone(I guess it was their customer service). I asked one of the guys about the Panasonic DVX100A camcorder that they had listed on their website for around $1700, and the guy said they didn't have it and tried to sell me another camcorder with a Pro Package (there is no such thing listed on their website) for almost $1000 more! I then asked them for Panasonic DVX100B and they said they didn't have it either, so I asked them about the Nikon D200, which I also wanted to buy, and once again the rude Jewish guy said it was out of stock, but he had another Nikon with pro package for almost $800 more!!! The guy that was talking to me was very, very rude and insisted on me buying the camera with extra accessories. By that time I knew these guys were total rip-offs so I promptly left this horrible looking store. I'm surprised they are still in the business and nobody had shut them down yet.

"I sent this email to cci camera city.

I want to let you know how unhappy and unsatisfied I am with the purchase I made from you. You have misrepresented your ad in the website http://www.ccicameracity.com/d50-pro.html.
1. Your website shows a black Nikon D50 and I got a silver.

2. The price you quote in the website looks like a bargain but did not say that the battery and charger are not included, so if you add it up, it will cost you more than other websites offer because battery was included in the price from other websites . They even have better offers. One example is this ad from expresscameras which turn out to be a better price http://www.expresscameras.com/prodetails.asp?prodid=373042&up=372960&start=1.

3. Your website showed that I will be getting Nikon lenses but instead I got Tamron lenses. I called your customer service and talked to the supervisor Peter and he insisted that the Tamron was an upgrade from the Nikon lenses that was offered in your website. I don't want to argue with him whether Tamron is better than Nikon or not, but I think I should have gotten a Nikon lens as advertised.

4. I am glad that Peter will send me the high speed compact flash card reader as promised since this was missed in the delivery. I hope this accommodates SD card as well.

5. I made a mistake of buying from your company. I will keep the camera because I don't want to argue with your rude employees.

After reading all the other complaints from this company, I am not planning to call them back. Do not buy from this company. They misrepresent their offer.

"In my opinion, this company practices deceptive and false advertising, but you judge for yourself based on my experience. I ordered a Rebel XT camera from their web site. Several days later I received an email instructing me to call them to confirm my order. Upon calling they tried to sell me a flash card, because the one that came with the package I selected was not going to work. I refused, thinking this to be false. He then tried to sell me additional lenses, filters, batteries all of which I refused. Obviously agitated with me, he then informed me that I had ordered the "foreign model" and that instructions and displays on the camera would not be in English. However I could "upgrade" or buy the domestic version for $799. When I was confused as to why they were selling a foreign version and that it was not clear on the web site, he became more agitated and had the gall to ask me why I ordered a foreign model in the first place, and wanted me to cancel my order, because he had other customers in the queue. I cancelled the order and called customer service "long distance" of course, and was told by a manager that they did not have to disclose on the web page because the privacy policy disclosed it. When I asked why they would put such info in a privacy policy he explained that "everyone in the industry" did it that way. I then reviewed the privacy policy and there is no indication that they sell foreign market equipment. WARNING, do not do business with these guys! If this is not deceptive/false advertising I can't imagine what is. Not only that they are very rude! There are too many legit retailers out there to waste time here."

"After a day I never recieved a conformation email. Then I checked these store reviews out:

So then I attempted to cancel my "order." Called 1-800 number, was asked if I called the customer service number, I replied no, and then he read the number to me and hung up. So I called another non-1-800 that was listed on the site and was given the right customer service number via an automated message. So I called them, told a lady I wanted to cancel my order, was transfered, told another guy I wanted to cancel my order, and he said he would cancel it right away. Hopefully they do...

UPDATE:
Apparently somebody called a couple of days later to "confirm the order" after I was already told it would be cancelled. No charge has been made to my credit card, so that's "good" I suppose. Just make sure you DO NOT order from this store and remember that if all these people spent this much effort to comment on how bad this store was than it must be pretty bad.

"This review is for Camera City or CCI. (I want to make sure that is clear so Google can find this post.) I just bought a lens and the charge to my credit card was $200 more than we agreed over the phone. I had asked for over night shipping, and they said the $50 overnight charge was over and above the $150 ground charge. AND over the phone he told me I could return it if I wasn't happy with no restocking fee. But now they want a 15% restocking fee.

So after being very rude and many attempts to up-sell me with free goodies and giving me a discount, he read off the return authorization number once, very quietly, very quickly and then immediately hung up so I couldn't ask him to repeat it.

All this was after they trying to sell me garbage at the beginning! Oh how I wish one of the reputable dealers would have had this lens in stock!

I'm out $370 on this deal, (Presuming I actually get the money refunded) but I consider it a bargain to get away from these people. How do they sleep at night??

"I purchased a Nikon D50 online and after reading all of the bad reviews, I thought that I should call and check things out. So after sitting on hold for 15 minutes...I got a rude guy who gave me another number to call. After calling them, I was asked first...did I change or ad anything to me order...when I said no...I was transferred to someone else. This lady proceeded to inform me that what I purchased was the Japanese model and it would be $250 more to get the US model. The japanese model was with no warranty and if there was a problem it had to be sent back to Japan to be serviced. So I cancelled my order. She would not give me any confirmation number though...so I will be checking my account online daily!!!"
