After I wrote the preceding review, I received a couple of harassing phone calls at my home from the company. They asked me not to do business with them again and told me that they would not honor my warranty. The company is run by Russians who like to intimidate and control their customers in order to maintain whatever reputation they would like to have. They actually asked me if I could change my review. They asked why I wrote such "nasty" comments. My comments are actually quite balanced. The web site is well laid out, etc. but the strong-arm approach to customer service doesn't fly. There is no value added with this company. One representative said why didn't I write that the motherboard is working ok and that I received it quickly. My response is that maybe I should thank the motherboard manufacturer and the US Postal Service. The value they were supposed to add was to install the heat sink and fan assembly and this became dislodged/disassembled during shipping because it wasn't adequately packed. They also told me that the motherboard used dedicated memory for the video when it uses shared memory. I fixed the heat sink/fan assembly myself and the dedicated/shared isn't a major issue. But these issues should be a primary concern for them since the entire feedback process is a learning experience. Any company worth their salt is interested in getting the processes correct and not artifically fudging the numbers through control. These folks have no concept of what customer service really means. They think it's simply people talking on the telephone."

Purchased the ACI TechNote Notebook. Received it, Powered it on and it was working, for about 12 hours. On that 12th hour the laptop powered off all by itself and I was unable to get anything out of my new paperweight. Called up Americorp, the rep and I finally decided something is defective, so I paid another $150 to send my laptop back to them. At this point, wanting a laptop, I wanted to return it because this is going to take forever, the representative advised there would be a 20% restocking fee (on their most popular laptop, 20% that is ridicules!?!?!?) Figured I could be patient and ride this out. Spoke with the company a couple times to check up on this problem. The rep advised me that the laptop must have been dropped in shipping and there are going to replace the laptop with a new one. I waited an additional 5 weeks after sending them the laptop until I received it back. Instead of receiving a new laptop, they sent me mine back and I was so infuriated to see that the brand new laptop I’ve sent them has returned with several deep scratches and dents in it! Furthermore, when I sent it to them in the first place my DVD burner didn’t appear to be mounted correctly, there is a large gap, and I would like it to be fixed. The only thing they fixed was allowing it to turn back on, other than that they sent me back a used product. I confronted the company before I decided to post negative feedback in regards to compensation of my used (supposed to be new laptop). The rep told me that one negative feedback would do anything; they have so many returning clients! So, I filled a negative review with the company (www.pricewatch.com) that referred me to Americorp. The following day I received a call for them. Terry, whom I had spoken with previously, was so rude to me because he told me that my warranty had been deleted right before he hung up on me because of my negative feedback. That was this morning, July 6, 2004. I check to see if my feedback was still posted, and they had it removed. Please help avoid doing business with this company!

"I bought a lexmark x63 printer. I wasnt told that the fax functionality might not work with a dsl line and of course it doesnt. I've had the printer for over a week and Lexmark (whose supposed to be supporting this thing) is useless. I cant return it becuase I dont have the original box(i threw it out immediately and didnt try the printer till a week later when I got the ink, no they dont send you ink with the printer). As of right now the printer isnt working for some strange ink cartridge reason. Hopefully the warranty is still good because I'm going to return it to Lexmark and get a new one, hopefully."

First, they CANCELED my first order because i have a PO BOX as the verification address on my credit card! After MANY phone calls it was fixed and they unfortunately sent me the computer.
Second, it has been only 3 months now and the MOUSE and SPEAKERS that came with it have completely STOPPED WORKING!
Third, I have been trying to call tech support for weeks now (WHICH IS A LONG DISTANCE TOLL CALL!!) and have got nothing but a busy signal. So i tried calling the sales department and as soon as i said i have a problem with my computer, they said, "You have to call tech support." AND HUNG UP ON ME!
Very bad service and products!
