“Backordered” means “Discontinued”

"I ordered an item on Adorama. When I ordered the item their website said it was in-stock. A few days after my order was placed I received an email stating the item was on backorder. I did not mind and decided to wait a few weeks. After a few weeks went by I called Adorama and they informed me that the item was discontinued all together and that I would not be receiving the item I purchased. Obviously, this frustrated me as I had been waiting due to the item being in-stock and then being on backorder. They never communicated with me to tell me that the item was discontinued other than when I called. The customer service representative transferred me to a manager and the manager said that they would make the situation right. The manager told me they would call me back the following day but, unfortunately, did not call me back. I followed up with a second phone call and was told (a second time) I would receive a call back, but I never did. Due to poor communication and poor customer service, I would never recommend Adorama."

Missing merchandise in a beat up box

"Package shows up 4 days later than scheduled delivery. Box is beat up torn open and taped over by presumably ups. The package is missing the main item. Now adorama is telling me I have to wait for ups to finish their investigation before anything else can proceed. This may take up to ten days. THIS IS AN ISSUE BETWEEN ADORAMA AND UPS LEAVE ME OUT OF IT AND SEND ME WHAT I ORDERED. I have bought thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from this place in the last year alone and this is how I get treated.
Customer service is a joke. The first person I was e-mailing regurgitated the info on ups website over and over and over as I was trying to at least go pick up the package that was 3 days late at that time.
The second series of e-mail, the person never even read the actual issue and had no idea that I was missing an item after 7 hours of back and forth e-mails. This person wanted me to send back an EMPTY box.
This has been the most frustrating online purchase I have ever made.

Withholding product availability information until they collect your personal and pay info

"One star is low, but not low enough. Adorama sells product they know they don’t have in stock without telling you. You’ll get estimated shipping times all the way through the purchasing purchase, in spite of the system knowing your items aren’t in stock. Here’s my experience.

I was pressed for time to get product for contracted work. I researched all evening (3 hours), product and price compared. I finally chose several important items to add to my inventory so the deadlines could be met. I purchased 8 loud speakers in one order and several in another order that I placed separately (so Amex wouldn’t be alarmed at the amount. This is for a production company). The choice to purchase through adorama.com rather than a competitor’s site who had a better price, was based entirely on the estimated shipping time. So I bought them, very relieved we’d get everything on time.

Immediately after the purchase I received an email saying the items weren't in stock with no prediction when they would be. Clearly the system knew the products weren’t in stock, the email I received telling me so was immediate. This “grab the cash” approach to sales is misleading and waste the consumer’s time. It's worse than a bait-and-switch in my opinion because Adorama knew it didn't have the product it was selling.

My review is because this trick probably causes enough people to give up and wait for the backs-ordered items. After all, they’ve gone through the R&D shopping process and filled out all of the purchase info and want to be done. It’s important to note that because Adorama withholds the availability information conveniently allows Adorama to collect our personal contact details and card info.

Anyone who’s installed an online store platform knows that not listing availability is a seller’s choice, not a shortcoming of the software.

Time is valuable to me and Adorama’s practice of selling goods they don’t have is a waste of it. I’d go to a site that tells you if the item you want is in stock before wasting time on Adorama. Hopefully this review saves you valuable time.

BEST PC EVER!!!

"Hello, I recently purchased the CyberPowerPC Gamer Master Gaming Desktop Computer, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, Windows 10 Home, Free Upgrade to Windows 11 and i was nothing but satisfied with my purchase. First off the company gave me a rtx 3060 ti ( which is 3x better than the original graphics card that was paid for). Second the computer runs super smooth when casual gaming or even playing AAA titles with frame rates never dropping below 60fps on max settings. Lastly the computer is very queit and makes little to no noise when running multiple tabs or even gaming. Not to mention my PC came in earlier than expected, with a lightup keyboard, and lightup mouse with multiple lighting options."

Trade in scam

"Awful. Some slime ball named Jack Gold in the trades department just tried to scam me. I sent them thousands of dollars worth of gear for a quick sale and the phone/preliminary quote was acceptable. Sent them the gear and surprise, not only have they slashed their offer in half some of my expensive accessories are suddenly missing. I demanded to have my stuff shipped back and I fear it will be damaged or not all accounted for. I saw many other similar problems with the scam department and Jack Gold in particular and everyone was suggesting to take it up with some Helen Oster there as she'll make it right. Well, I emailed her and another "ambassador" and got no response. Straight up scam."

Avoid this Company!! Not Recomended

"I have been an Adorama customer for several years, I always received my orders without any setback.

I recently ordered an Olympus OM5M3 camera and Olympus PRO 12-40mm lens but the package appears to be in Limbo. The customer service representative assures that the package was delivered to Fedex and the order appears as completed on the system, the problem is that a week has passed and the tracking number only shows "Shipping information sent to FedEx", I personally went to the FedEx agency in my country and they assure me that the package has not been delivered and that I must contact Adorama about it, despite this the different customer service representatives recommended that I wait until the delivery deadline, which was precisely today, the delivery never happened.

I tried to cancel the order but the service representative informed me that the order could no longer be canceled and that I had to wait for the package to return it, which is totally ridiculous.

They informed me that if the package did not arrive today I would contact them again but from what I can see this website, I am not the only one in this situation, I wish I had seen this site before ...

Horrible experience with Used department

"I wouldn't trust their used department. They shipped me a damaged lens. The autofocus is very loud and inaccurate. I spoke to customer service on the phone, I was shown a link for a replacement and that it was being shipped out to me and to ship back the damaged lens once received. Four days go by without hearing anything and I follow up and they say there is no stock of that lens now. Now it's a week later than I was expecting the lens and I have to ship the lens back, wait for them to get it then wait days for a refund as well as finding another one of the used market. If you're ever considering using Adorama's used department... do yourself a favor and use B + H, KEH or any of the other stores or just get one off ebay... you probably have better odds at getting an issue resolved quickly with them than Adorama."

Downloadable product becoming physical

"Purchased BlackMagicDesign Resolve Studio Licence, which is clearly marked as: "Delivery method - Download".
No download link or email with license received within 24 hours. Contacted the support, no reply as they follow some not-public holidays.
When back from holiday and weekend the customer support is only capable to spend 3 days to find out the explanation that the license is apparently "a physical piece of paper with instructions how to obtain the license". As a user of Resolve I know it must be a card with license number.
The customer support is refusing to acknowledge misrepresentation of item description or to change the delivery method of the item to avoid such mistake for other customers.

My chosen way to go - return the license as it was needed within 24 hours, not 1+ week later, and contact the BlackMagicDesign to see if they are aware the products are being sold through such disrespectful outlet.

"We ordered three cameras but only received two. The box wasn’t altered when we received it. We even have an email with one of their reps admitting it was an error!! We still haven’t received our third camera! Will never use this company again!!"

WARNING - No Reward Points for good customers!

"WARNING, WARNING!!! Very sorry to say that I ordered over $10,000 worth of photography equipment from Adorama's eBay Store front and they refused to issue reward points. Polly P. (Adorama Customer Service) stated the their Adorama eBay Store was a third party, not eligible for any reward points from the Company. Not a good way to treat their costumers to say the least! "

SCAM ALERT! FILING A LAWSUIT!

"SCAM ALERT! DO NOT MAKE LARGE PURCHASES WITH THIS COMPANY! FILING A LAWSUIT!

I originally made a purchase of over $2000 on 04/02 and the package was supposed to be delivered on 04/07, but I never received it. I called to notify Adorama that I didn't receive my purchase and I have been sent on a wild goose chase. They originally told me that I needed to wait 48 hours before they could open a claim with UPS, which is false. Then, after waiting 48 hours they still didn't open a claim until I called two more times over a two-day period. Once I finally reached the "claims department" I was told that I would need to wait 10 more business days for UPS to finish their investigation. I waited 12 business days, with no response. Then I decided to call and get in contact with a supervisor, which is nearly impossible. I was told that I would be called back by a supervisor on two different occasions, and I never received a call. At this point it has been 22 days (16 business days), since starting this journey and it has been the worst experience of my life.

Now that the "UPS Claim" is finished, they now say that they need their own security department to complete an investigation. However, they won't provide a time window or specific date that the investigation will be finished.

While some of their customer service representatives are nice and helpful, the majority of them are not. One specific "claim representative" named Red R. is extremely rude and belligerent. On all three occasions that I attempted to contact a supervisor, I was only ever transferred to Red R, who is definitely not a supervisor. He then proceeded to raise his voice and argue with me because I nicely asked to speak with his supervisor.

Today, 04/29, I successfully waited nearly 1.5 hours on hold to finally speak with a supervisor named Lance. Lance reviewed my case and said that he "doesn't know how long this will take."

Obviously, with no end in sight, I have had to take matters into my own hands. I am lucky enough to have a colleague that practices e-commerce law and he advised me to file a small claims lawsuit for the purchase and lost wages, which has totaled to around $4300 at this point.

If you are unsure about this company, just go check out their BBB reviews, then make a decision about making a purchase with them. WARNING: You do not want to have to deal with their customer service department. They will give you the run-around to save their money.

Be aware Adorama

"I have a verified student account with Adorama. I talked with them about trading in my Sony A72 with lens and was offered $500. However, another company offered me $745. Then Adorama offered me 600, then 650 and finally told me they would match the other company's offer. However, when I sent it in they claimed there was a scratch on the camera screen and only offered me 600. I know for a fact that the camera was in mint condition and there were no scratches on it or on the lens. When I complained, he offered me another $50. I felt really disrespected and will not do business with them again. Beware of this behavior, especially if you are trying to trade. This is not a good way to treat customers. I understand they want to make a profit but they shouldn't insult their customers to do it.
