"Worst online experience ever. I got their name from pricewatch and ordered an AMD XP 2100+ processor since they had the cheapest price. I ordered the rest of the components from microtech and house of computers. I received UPS tracking numbers and in fact the package from microtech arrived the next day (Sept 26 - because i live in michigan and microtech is in toledo). i then came here and read the comments from others and immediately got alarmed. i called sonicparts and spoke with austin, who told me the package was going to be shipped the next day. the next day, i called them to ask whether the package was in the mail and he said no. i told him to cancel it and ordered from newegg at 12pm, 9/27. at 4pm i received a tracking number from newegg and someone from sonicparts called me to tell me that the 2100+ would be available on monday (today) but that i could order the 2200+ for just an additional $19 instead of $39 and he would ship it right then. that sounded eeriely like the run-around people in here have been talking about. i told him to cancel it. if u want to order the top of the line, expensive items this company is for u but i cannot recommend it for those who know what they are doing and don't want to pay top dollar for a miniscule performance increase. "

"On September 20th 2002 (Friday after hours) I ordered an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ and Volcano 7 processor pack. Monday the 23rd at 9am I got an email from them stating I should call their customer service line in regards to my order. Thinking the worst I called on Tuesday (when i actually read my email), instead I talked to a very friendly person on the tech line, and was told about a potential problem with the AMD 2200 which they were alerting their customers to, and asked if I had made sure to order an AMD-approved processor fan/ heat sink. I hadn't as of yet so they hooked me up with the Volcano 7 (which was good cause i really didn't know what would be good to have for the amd 2200+) Was told the order would ship Wednesday morning (since it was too late Tuesday to get it in since I called right before they closed), sure enough, Wednesday I recieved a UPS tracking number and Thursday morning at 11am the package was delievered to my door. (I live in Iowa and the company is in Illinois, so that's still pretty impressive for UPS Ground)

The service from this company was beyond excellent from the contact about potential problems of the wrong processor fan, to the rapid shipping.

I will DEFINITELY recommend SonicParts to anyone else who is building a computer of their own (as I am). Keep up the GREAT work!

"I had heard that this company is often out-of-stock on items. Therefore, I asked the receptionist to check on the availability of a ECS motherboard and AMD 2000+ processor before I placed an order. The receptionist said that the products were in stock. I then asked if she could double-check with the staff again, before I placed an order. She then said "the AMD 2000+ is one of the few that is not backordered".

So, I then placed my order, and was told that the shipping would be delayed 1 day for testing. I figured that this was just a ploy to delay the shipping, and that they really did not test the units.

After 4 days of not receiving the order, I called back to doublecheck the status. As I expected, they said the product was backordered.

Cancelling the order was easy enough, and they were very pleasant. However, I wanted the parts by July 25th. It is now the 22nd, so I have wasted 4 days.

Had I got an immediate backorder confirmation I would be OK with that. However, I received no notice of backorder status until I called. They told me the backorder would be 12-15 business days.

Cannot recommend this company.

By the way, a co-worker of mine ordered the same thing from EconoPC.com on the same day. She received her product today.

"With over 8 years of online shopping experience, this is one of the best companys we have bought from. Ordered a PC KIT (AMD XP1800/MOBO/CASE/PS/). Sonicparts burned it in for 48 hours and then shipped via UPS. Ordered it 27 Jun and got it 2 Jul. Got an email response as soon as we placed the order and a confirmation email upon shipping to include UPS tracking number. I highly recommend. As a matter of fact just ordered another PC kit from them today for a customer I'm building a computer for. Thir component part prices are competitive, but the PC kit prices are hard to beat."

"My personal experiences with SonicParts.com were excellent. I ordered my AMD Barebones Package, XL 1900, ECS K75A Motherboard, Retail Package and a Sony Floppy Drive on June 25, 2002. I received it on June 28, 2002. I consider this to be excellent shipping time.

When ordering, my experience with the employees and the manager at SonicParts.com were commendable. The sales representative was quite friendly, helpful in making suggestions, and when he couldn’t answer all my questions I was referred to the manager “T.J.”. T.J. personally went out of his way to ensure I understood all the issues regarding my purchase and proved to be very helpful. I considered T.J. to be an excellent manager, very customer focused, and quite pleasant.

SonicParts.com sold me my Barebones Package for the price posted at Price Watch and had it in stock ready for shipment. I was a bit taken back by this as I had contacted three other companies listed at Price Watch. None had the package in stock and they wouldn’t take my order. They indicated the parts were on backorder. Representatives at theses companies suggested that I call back in several days, I did!! Again, I was advised the parts were on backorder. In all instances, they suggested I upgrade a more expensive package. I repeated this process for approximately three weeks. Nevertheless the companies continued to advertise at Price Watch. In all instances, they suggested I upgrade a more expensive package.

My personal experience with SonicParts.com was excellent. They had my parts, were friendly, and shipped expeditiously. I attribute much of my success to the manager T.J. I will do business again with SonicParts.com. I know if I encounter a problem T.J. will make it right. I am in no way associated with Sonic Parts; I just wanted to share my experiences with others. After giving them an excellent rating, I pray to God your experiences are as good mine. I’ll keep you informed. Good luck and God bless.

"I wish the last 5 comments were posted before I purchased. I read the other comments and it sounded like a good seller, but then I got thrown for the backorder loop. They said last week it would 5-7 business days. Today, I checked the ratings again, and cancelled my order. I went to newegg and paid about $30 more, but I think it's worth not having the hassle."

"Thought I would update my shopping experience with Sonic..AS OF JULY 1ST STILL WAITING FOR MY SYSTEM TO SHIP..ordered June 19th so far I have recieved fans and heat sink from BestByte and Cd Rom from Newegg both ordered several days after placing my order with Sonicparts..maybe they should change their name to subsonic.. I am still giving them a chance to redeem themselves by shipping it out this week..Will keep posted
OK Its Friday July 5th was told my order would ship this week and I would recieve tracking number today:
Your parts are in stock and are being shipped. You should recieve a tracking
number by Friday.
That was cut and pasted from my email..No tracking number yet and no answer on Phone ..could be closed for long weekend..So Im still waiting.. I also don't believe "Johnnys post" sorry Johnny. Three days from order to delivery on the same system I ordered and was told parts backordered, Have Email on that also if you would like to see it.
I'd like to personally apologize about the delay with your order. We are also getting the run around on when the processors would come in-stock. Our manufacturer told us a date which we told the customers, then that was delayed further. As for your order, I have special ordered the part and will ship it out this week, again you should receive your tracking information no later then Friday. Thank you for being patient, and again sorry about the delay."
Well I'll let you know if I have to cancle my order after waiting 20 days at least they are courtious if not speedy.

I haven't recieved that tracking number you promised me .
I'm really starting to worry about my customer not being as patient as he was.
I don't know if the order really shipped or not.
This is a business and I need to be professional and maintain our stores image.
If I need to go elsewhere just tell me.
If I don't recieve the shipping info by 7/9/02 I will have to believe the order never was shipped and cancel it.

"Things went pretty smooth, I ordered an athlon xp1800 and a heatsink/fan and thermal gel, and it got here in 3 days. So Ican't complain about speed. Haven't tested the things yet, because other companies aren't quite as fast so my MB aint here yet...

One complaint. The price listed on pricewatch was 77 bucks (for just CPU), where the price on the sonicparts homepage was 79, so i left a comment asking them to knock two bucks off the price, since the price on pricewatch is supposed to be honored. Of course, they didn't. It's only 2 bucks, yeah, but it's still annoying.

"I ordered a combo XP 1700+ with K7S5A motherboard. It was the best price at pricewatch.com, and the company had only good reviews at resellerratings.com (when I placed the order), so I didn't think anything might be wrong.
Then everything happened exactly as was described in previous reviews: the salesperson told me the CPUs have been back ordered and suggested a more expensive option. Yes, it happens, items go out of stock, and they get backordered. But this is not the case: in CPU section of pricewath.com the same company, SonicParts, shamelessly sells OEM AMD 1700+, which "have been backordered". The item description says in capital letters: - IN STOCK SHIPPING IMMEDIATELY, and this record was updated 6/20, 9:53 AM, the way after I placed my order.
So, "the best price" is no more then a trick.
My upgrade was delayed for almost a month. I value my time, and will never order from them again!

"Ordered a ECS K7S5A and AMD athlon XP 1800+ combo, OEM version for the XP 1800+. Was told that it will ship in one week exactly(today 6/21/01) however after inquiring about my order today, I was told that it was on back order and will not be able to ship until at least next tuesday. After being hasseled by the salesman(they asked numerous time if I wanted to upgrade to the SonicBox option) I realized that this is all a wildgoose chase, they snag people into buying their OEM version, which is extremely cheap, however they will delay the shipment and try to make the customer buy the retail, which is expensive compared to other places. Finally I got fed up and cancelled, I will now buy it from new egg which is a little more expensive but it's actually the retail package, in retrospect it is actually alot cheaper to buy it from New Egg. I learned my lesson on using PriceWatch. some of the vendors on PriceWatch are unscroupulous and are willing to take advantage of the customer. "

"Extremely BAD experience. Ordered a K7S5A + Athlon XP 1800+ combo agter finding them in pricewatch and reding the comments here. I should have thought twice when the site said that shipping without insurance takes 7-10 days to process - explain that!. I shelled out extra 10 bucks for the insurance happy that its still agood deal.
It was not to be. I recieved an email 2 days later to contact them. On calling back I was told that the "OEM cpus will only be shipped on weekends as they do not get too many orders". Ofcourse I could "upgrade" to the SonicBox for 29.95 and get it shipped the same day! I declined. I mailed them later to say this was unacceptable and that my order be shipped promptly. The mail this time said that it will be shipped in 3-5 days.
2 days later I called them to figure out if there has been any progress. Now the customer service rep (he WAS courteous) stated that the CPU is now back ordered! Ofcourse it can be shipped the same day if I order the "SonicBox". I declined at this point and proceeded to cancel my order. The rep sounded extremely happy that I did! Meanwhile, I had ordered the heatsink from NewEgg the same day and had recieved it 2 days later!
After cancelling, I ordered the same from NewEgg. It was 16 dollars more expensive than the initial quoted price at SonicParts, but 14 less that if I ordered the SonicBox. They have processed and shipped my order within 2 hours!! for 4 bucks S&H too.
In short, SonicParts uses the pricewatch bait to lure you in. But they have NO INTENTION whatsoever to sell it you at that price. Shady buisiness practice if you ask me. I will never order from them again.

"Speedy service, excellent value, and absolutely no hassle with the purchase of my bare bones system. I had an e-mail confirmation waiting in my inbox as soon as I had placed my order (by phone). In less than 48 hours my order had been shipped and I had received another email confirming this with UPS tracking #... very reasonable shipping cost as well (22lbs for 34.50). Received precisely what i ordered exactly one week from date ordered and was up and running stable in 2 hours. Would go to Sonicparts again (and again and again and...)! "

"I placed and order for a BBKIT over the phone with Neil, he was honest and to the point. Received my system 4 DAYS LATER!! The CPU and Fan were attached and it was properly greased, all I had to do was load the OS and plug in my peripherals. This system advocates that SonicParts properly installed and tested the system as they said they would. They didn’t sit on my order, were fast, offered great service, and didn’t burn a hole in my wallet. I will do business with them again in the future."
