"I ordered a mobo/cpu combo for a great price on Feb 19th, 2004. A message was left on my answering machine to call customer suport. I spoke with Maria. She let me know that the mobo doesn't support WinXP/2K, which turned out to be a false claim. The mobo I received does work with these operating systems.

I have read here in Resellerratings that other people have been called by Sonicparts in an effort to get them to buy higher priced parts. It is a gimmick. They tell you that the part you ordered is either not in stock, or doesn't work with a certain operating system, then they try to get you to buy a higher or lower priced part.

When the motherboard and processor that I ordered finally arrived the processor turned up bad. I am computer tech for the Army, and I know what I am doing. I have been trying to get an RMA to return it, but they seem to be taking their time processing it. I wrote up an RMA form on their website and have been writing back and forth with their techs since March 3rd, and it is now the 16th of March. They seem to keep asking the same thing over and over, they want to know if the bad part is the processor or the motherboard. I keep telling them it is the processor but they seem to be stalling to keep from sending me an RMA. If you go on to read more reviews on Sonicparts here at ResellerRatings, you will find that this problem I am having is a common problem that others have with them. I am reporting them to the IFCC (Internet Fraud Complaint Center) and the Better Business Bureau if they don't come through on my RMA. If anyone else has problems with Sonicparts, I suggest you first try to settle it with them like I have, then report them if they don't comply. These are the websites:

"I placed this order on 02/13/2004 Paid $ 41.88 2Day air express insured for a P-4 3.4GHz Prescott CPU $ 489.99 This was a good price. Bought on line they got the money. Never sent a confirmation# on 02/17/2004 sent e-mail let me know if out of stock ASAP. No response on 02/18/2004 sent e-mail if you cannot process order by 02/19/2004 cancel order. To date I have not herd from them no responce and they already have my money. I dont have order wich I canceled. I will never do buiesness with these people again. "

"ordered an AMD XP 2200 from this company, and thought the shipping would be fast, as they are located about 4-6 hours from my home/business. took them 3 days to ship, as they had to "verify" my order. what do you have to verify? you take the processor off of the shelf, pack it in a box, and ship it out! that doesnt take no 3 days. they also would not honor the pricewatch.com stated shipping cost, but they were about $10-$20 cheaper than anywhere else on the internet.

i'll have to think twiceabout ordering from them. there are better vendors out there. some that speak english.

"Purchased OEM AMD 2600xp CPU for my ASRock 266fsb motherboard. CPU arrived and on my own purchased a new AMD 2600 rated heatsink and fan. I removed my working AMD 1700xp CPU and installed the new CPU, and heatsink. Powering up computer showed nothing on the monitor, no beeps. Only the drives reset, but the HDD and power leds stayed lit. I powered down, and replaced my 1700, and the system powered up fine. I reset my BIOS, and reinstalled the 2600, and repowered. This time smoke erupted from under the heatsink within seconds of powering on. I replace the 1700, and the system runs fine. The 2600 is toasted, the green fiber board blistered on one side of the CPU. According to Sonicparts return policy, there are NO returns if the CPU is physically damaged. My ASROCK board is a 266 fsb, and their WEB site states it takes the AMD 2600xp CPU. Why did this one blow? As a test, I installed an AMD 2400xp from my other computer, and this CPU runs in it just find too. My error, or falty CPU, You decide, but in eaither case, I'm out almost $100."

"This is my 8th year as a computer tech and have never had this much problem with a vendor. I ordered a motherboard and CPU because of the price and on delivery (which was a few days late) i found the motherboard doesn't even power on. After 1 phone call they told me "Tech support does not have a phone number" so I asked for a superviser, 2 phone calls later still no answers. I am very displeased with this service and would never recommend anyone use sonicparts.com

UPDATE:
Found this company to be the same as Compubuzz, check their reviews as well. Every review I read about processor orders show the processors always being bad. All the good reviews are short and sound similar (written by their own employees?) Either way, SonicParts aka Compubuzz is a scam. They shuffle the same bad processors to different customers and make money off the surcharges they charge for RMA processing. Then they say if they test the part and it shows good they discretely charge your credit card $35.00. Who is in charge of testing? I have ordered one processor from them and one from compubuzz, both of which were bad. The RMA process took 2 weeks to finally get an RMA number.

"These people do not update their web page to reflect the actual availability of their parts. I tried to purchase an OEM Socket 423 P4 2.0GHZ, which, according to the website, were available in quantity discounts. After receiving a confirmation email, I ordered (from another supplier) a motherboard to go with it. The following day Sonic called to say they were out of stock. I mentioned the "quantity discounts" and the rep said "Oh, somebody ordered them all."
As of 10 minutes ago, their website still lists 6 different OEM socket 423's as "available", even though the rep stated that all they had in 423's was a 1.6 retail box. I guess I'm stuck with a mobo. Take your business elsewhere.

"These people are unprofessional at all. They only have one phone line and it is always busy. they don't even have a menu options. I bought a motherboard/CPU combo from them and I paid extra for them to do testing to make sure it's working allright. They sent me the package I plugged it and it's not working. I called and this guy told me about there RMA so I sent to them and they replied that the package is ok and I have to do some troubleshooting as may be the memory or the VGA card I'm using is not working. Bottomline I suffered alot since I bought it for a long time with troubleshooting. So I wanted to return it back to them to test it and by that time my warranty was void so they made me pay an extended warranty for $60 beside the shipping to them ($15) and I did tell you that I bought the combo for $210 (Pantium4-2GHz) so total up till now is about $300 If i could have bought a whole PC it would have been cheaper. I never hear from them for two weeks so I called one week ago asking about my package so the same guy told me that the processor was bad and they sent it back to intel....What the hell was going on...I bought the package with testing to make sure it's ok...so they lied about testing they never did. Up till now I am waiting to hear anything from them but nothing beside that I'm trying to call them everyday (long ditance call-they donot have a 800 number) but it's always busy. I will never deal or buy anything from them ever again. it's really a bad expreience."

"The item I ordered was out of stock. They called me the very next day to tell me and asked if I would like to upgrade or downgrade the cpu I purchased. The better deal was to upgrade so I went with that. It was shipped out that very day and since I live 1 state away, I received it the next day. I have ordered from them in the past and have had wonderful experiences each time. I would definitely order from them again!"

"Wrong part shipped. Gave an upgrade which did not match my memory. Cannot boot computer. Customer support not available even by e-mail outside of 10AM-4PM Central time. Solutions don't work. No RMA offered. Their technical support people will talk with you except in very brief e-mails which stretch the process out one step at a time. One e-mail a day, maximum. Still trying to get the problem fixed."

"Unfortunately I just learned about resselerratings.com after placing this order. Even the BBB states they consider SonicParts's practices unacceptable, very bad record there.

If their rating here or record on the BBB does not convince you not to buy from SonicParts, here is my experience.

I ordered two motherboard combos and two cases. After receiving this bad order I had to contact them using their horrible online RMA system. Read their responses below and bear in mind I had to wait 2-3 business days to get each response.

Problem Description:
Here is a list of the problems with this order. 1. Two motherboards are different from invoice and order. They are M810D not 810LR. 2. Both cases are different from specs. They are 13" tall, not 16". 3. One of two processors is obviously used. It is a different PCB color and has thermal grease on it. I have taken neither processor out of its package. 4. When purchasing motherboard combo from website, I chose option of case with free installation. There was no installation.

Tech Comments:
Hello, the motherboard description online clearly explains what the motherboards have onboard. PCCHIPS has discontinued the 810LRs with the SDRAM slots and AGP card and has replaced them with the 810Ds (DDR SLOT and only onboard VGA port). If you have issues with the processors not working we can work with you and test and replace them. Please let us know. thanks

"After waiting and waiting and waiting for this order to be shipped or at least to get a phone call or email from the company I called Sonicparts only to be told that AMD was no longer shipping the XP 2100 CPU I had ordered. However, Sonicparts offered to upgrade my order to a XP 2200 for $12. When I complained that they were offering the XP 2200 on Pricewatch.com for only $82 they did the upgrade and sent it out 2nd day air for the original price. The cpu fan looks like it costs more than the motherboard or the CPU and they used sufficient popcorn to keep everything snug. Would I order from Sonicparts again? Yes. Next time, however, I would call them before and after I placed the order to be sure exactly when and what would be shipped. "

"they said my order was backordered and then made me pay 15$ for an upgrade. i waited for over an hour on the phone to get in touch with their customer service only to be insulted by them. i will never do business with them again. they may have cheap prices, but you'll be extremely lucky if you actually get the product you purchase. it is not worth the hassle."

"Sonicparts is another e-tailer that relies upon the old "bait and switch" technique to scam customers. Sonicparts lists products for sale at the "lowest" possible price along with its affiliates.

After the customer places and order and before the customer checks out Sonicparts adds a variety of items to the invoice, which the customer must remove or purchase in addition to the original merchandise. After Sonicparts places the customer's funds on hold a customer service or sales representative calls the customer several times. When the customers answers or calls Sonicparts back a sale representative states that their is some kind of problem with the merchandise or order (such as a delay in a shipment from the manufacturer or an unexpected price increase, etc.). The sales representative then asks the customer to pay a higher price for the merchandise. If this tactic fails the sales representative asks the customer to accept an item of less quality at the same price or to purchase a more expensive item.

If the customer does not agree then Sonicparts asks the customer if he would like to cancel the order. If the customer says "yes" then Sonicparts deducts a 5% "order cancellation" fee. If the customer says "no" then Sonicparts keeps the customers money until the customer either cancels the order and pays the 5% "order cancellation" fee, agrees to pay a higher price for the item, agrees to accept an inferior item for the same price or agrees to purchase a more expensive item.

Sonicparts is one of those e-tailers that specializes in 1. attracting orders for merchandise by listing them at the lowest price, 2. adding items to the invoice, 3. using fictitious problems with the order to increase the price, 4. offering inferior merchandise at the same price, 5. keeping the customer's payment until the order is canceled by the customer, 4. charging the customer an "order cancellation" fee.

"I found this company through pricewatch.com because they had one of the best prices on an Athlon XP 2000+. They did not have the OEM in stock so I bought retail for $99. I sent the check in and did not see my processor when i was supposed to. I called and asked and they said that it would be another 2 weeks for the check to clear. I argued and they did nothing, Two weeks later, nothing. I called the bank and they said that the check cleared 3 days after I mailed it. I called them back and asked to speak with the persons supervisor, and everytime I called the same guy answered the phone, I called about a dozen times on different days. Anyway, he refused to let me talk to his supervisor or give me his name for about 5 finutes. I finally got handed off to a man who handed me off to a woman who gave me to the CEO of their parent company. He was actually nice. He said he was sorry for the problem and overnighted me one right away. I will never order from them again."
