"Purchased a Canon Rebel t3i with 18-135 lens. I too apparently got sucked into the battery scam because they conned me into purchasing an extended life battery by telling me that my kit did not come with a battery at all. I haven't gotten an email yet with a tracking number, and when I called today (ext. 503) he was very impatient with me, and sent me to another extension where I was on hold for 16 minutes. The second man I talked to said he would email me a tracking number when it ships, and when I reminded him that I got 7-9 day shipping and that my camera should already be on its way, he quickly tried to correct himself and told me that it had already shipped and he would email me shortly. I still have not recieved an email, or my camera. I spent $800 dollars at this store, and I don't feel like my business was appreciated at all. "

"This company advertise low prices, then call you to tell you that the camera only comes with a 30 min battery and want to charge you $100 for an upgrade. I cancelled my order and they charged my credit card anyway. I spoke with Roger Walker and he apologized for the miscommunication with the sales rep and stated that a refund would be processed. "

"On Friday, April 26, 2013 I ordered from BestPricePhoto.com the following package: Canon 5D Mark III + Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM & Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II Lenses - 3pc Kit. As advertised the package was $6,399.99 plus shipping which I found to be a good deal for the camera and lenses involved. I received a call on Sunday, April 28, 2013 to confirm my order and try to up sell me on various things. I was advised at the time that the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens was not in stock but that they would have it in within 2 weeks. In the mean time, he tries to convert me to a Sigma lens instead of the Canon Lens I ordered. I am not interested. Excited about a new camera, I was willing to wait the two weeks I was advised it would be for the lens. The gentlemen said they would ship the : Canon 5D Mark III and the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II Lens that I ordered and charge me for that part of the package which came out to $5,569.95 and then ship me the lens when it comes in an charge me the balance.

I receive the camera body and lens as promised and began using and enjoying my new camera. Three weeks go by and I do not receive my lens so I make a phone call to the BestPricePhoto.com Customer Service Department. I speak with Steve who advises me that they still have not received the lens from Canon. Now here is when I start to get angry… He tells me they have no idea when it is going to come in. Not much to do at this point but wait.

I let 10 days go by and I call the BestPricePhoto.com Customer Service again on Thursday, May 30, 2013 where again I speak with Steve who tells me the lens still has not come in and again they have no idea when the lens is going to come in. Anger starting to rise again…. While I am speaking with Steve, I look on the BestPricePhoto.com website and see they are still advertising the package I ordered with the “backordered” Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens saying the package is “Available” and separately they are advertising the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens by itself also saying it is “Available”. By the way, they advertise 21 different packages with the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens included. Starting to feel very frustrated but trying to remain optimistic.

Here we are on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. I call the BestPricePhoto.com Customer Service and speak with Steve once again. Same old answer… no lens yet and no idea when it will be in but when it does come in, they will send me an email. Meanwhile, before calling I have already pulled up their website again and see they are still advertising the package I ordered with the “backordered” Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens saying the package is “Available” and they are advertising the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens by itself also saying it is “Available”. He has no answer for me as to why they would still be advertising a product they supposedly do not have in stock. And there are still 21 packages still being advertised with this lens included and they are all showing “Available”.

The long and the short of my experience with this company is this… For whatever “best price” BestPricePhoto.com may show, save yourself the aggravation and order from someplace else. I am not feeling the hint of a sense of customer service from these folks… or at least from Steve. This is my story so far, so make your choice from here….

Continuation of the story…. As noted in other reviews, I received a phone call from Roger within about a half an hour of my hitting send on my review of BestPricePhoto.com.

So Roger says all the right things and tells me how much he wants to make me a happy customer. The funny part is…. I want to be a happy customer too but I am not sure Roger is clear about what a happy customer is. He explains how they are not an authorized re-seller of Canon products and thus they are getting the “cast offs” from other stores who are authorized Canon resellers. He continues to tell me how he wants to make me happy and offers to upgrade for free my warranty to a 3 year warranty. I explain to him that I am not interested in a warranty. I ordered a camera and two lenses at a particular price that they advertised on their website and it is the camera and two lenses that I am interested in. Not a longer warranty… that was not what I ordered. This seems to start to put Roger off that I would not want a free extended warranty.

Roger proceeds to come off the tracks and go into how some people you can never make happy… alluding to the fact he does not think he can make me happy. I explained that I can be made happy…. I can be made happy by fulfilling the order for the camera and both lenses that I ordered from the BestPricePhoto.com website. He proceeds to try to offer me an accessories package with a card, a battery and filters. I explain that what I want is the lenses that came with the order I placed. I am not asking for anything else… no other products… no discounts. I am not looking to eat further into your slim margin. I just want what was represented to me on your website. Pretty simple.

Needless to say, Roger is getting cranky at this point because he realizes he has a customer who is not going to have something dangled in front of him to draw their attention away from pursuing what they want which is the lens that I ordered.

Now after Roger has explained to me the hurdles that it sounds like they are going through to fulfill the lens order, I explain that this would have been helpful to have been told during one of my previous phone calls. This understanding would have gone a long way with me to grow my empathy and make me feel like they were really trying to do something. Regrettably, Roger tells me that had I asked to speak with Steve’s supervisor… him… this could have been explained to me. My question is why is your Customer Service person not explaining this to the customer? Would that not be what they are there for?

So I ask Roger whether he is the owner of BestPricePhoto.com. He tells me he is not. I ask who the owner of BestPricePhoto.com is and I am told it is Steve (Last Name Withheld). I say okay then, may I speak with Steve (Last Name Withheld) and without skipping a beat he says, “No…. If you call Microsoft, you won’t get Bill Gates if you ask for him.” I have the feeling Roger has used that line before. Roger says that is why Steve has him there to take the calls. I hope Mr. (Last Name Withheld) is aware of the level of satisfaction of his customers. I am sure this customer is being explained away as a lunatic who won’t take free stuff.

So now the conversation erodes into how people make mistakes…. Roger does not seem to have an answer for why someone would say the order could be fulfilled in two weeks when it could not. When he tried to redirect the conversation by saying that some people make mistakes, I said I understand people making mistakes but what I do not understand is why they are advertising a lens as “Available” in 21 different packages when they do not have nor do they say they know when they will get it in. That is a mistake I find inexcusable and, furthermore, the website has been showing this lens available for 6 weeks. This is not a paper catalog we are dealing with here. This is the internet where you can adjust your website hourly to what items you have available. The question in my mind is how many customers are being mislead at this point?

Now again, I am not asking for discounts, I am not looking for additional freebies. I am a customer looking to get the camera and both lenses that I ordered at the price for which the package was advertised.

Be sure to check back. I will update when I receive the final part of my order. I am hoping for a quick and positive resolution to this whole experience.

UPDATE – June24th…. So I called today to speak with Roger and he is “unavailable”. I am transferred to his assistant Jeffrey. Now I spoke with Jeffrey last week on June 19th when Roger was “unavailable” at that point. He was quite helpful as he pulled up the account and said that an order was placed to the United Kingdom on June 12th and an invoice paid for the lens in question and they should hopefully see the lens soon. Please note, June 12th was the day after I had my initial conversations with Roger following the review I was posting.

So with today’s call, I am transferred over to Jeffrey once again. He needed a couple of moments to refresh his memory and review the notes on the account. He then says to me, “Oh…. You’re the one who wrote a bad review and you want our help. Good luck with that….” and the phone went dead. Being the nice guy I am, I assumed we had just been disconnected. I called back and all I get is voice mail, so I leave a message asking Roger to call me.

With several hours having gone by and no calls, I call back and am advised that Roger has left for the day. I have reached Jeffrey once again. When I say to him that we must have been cutoff earlier, he tells me that when you write a bad review of them, then you are not going to get any help from them and hangs up once again. His parting words are something to the affect that I can go ahead and blog all I want to. What is amazing to me is that both Roger and Jeffrey act like it is my fault. Like I am the one in the wrong here. I place an order for kit they are advertising and am willing to pay the price they are asking with no haggling. They send me only part of the order and charge me most of the price. Then they do not complete the order, are rude about it and act like I am the bad guy. I am confused.

Well… I did a bit of digging into this operation and I think the most telling thing I can offer to anyone who is considering doing business with BestPricePhoto.com is to recommend you Google Map the address of the business (2380 60th Street Brooklyn, NY 11204 which comes directly from their website in the Contact Us section) and look at a Street View. Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. Once you have looked at the store front and reviewed all of the comments about this organization, I think you may reconsider placing your order with BestPricePhoto.com.

I really think the folks at BestPricePhoto.com need to look at themselves in the mirror and do some deep thinking about the way they are doing business. I feel sorry for these folks. They must really be very unhappy people when you see the numerous poor reviews.

It appears I have been taken…. I hope this serves as a warning for others not to be taken as I was.

"On May 4th I ordered a camera from Best Price Photo along with a 3 year warranty (web special / free accidental damage with 3 year warranty purchase) and the order immediately came through to my email, though the invoice did not reflect the warranty upgrade. On May 5th I received a call and was pressured to buy extra batteries as the battery in the camera was only a “demo battery” (not true). I fell for it, and asked about the warranty upgrade and was told that my invoice would be fixed to reflect that. I did get an email saying my credit card had been charged but there was no amount or itemization. My credit card account showed a higher charge than what I had agreed to pay. At this point I started feeling queasy, called the company (and discovered customer service is not open during all sales hours), did some additional research on them, and sent an email cancelling everything within a few hours of the transaction. I also called first thing Monday (May 6) morning to verbally cancel; the discussion followed up with an email on my part asking for a confirmation. I was polite, but was treated rudely, yelled at and told that it would take 2-3 weeks to get my money back (because the actual charge had not gone through, the cancellation *could* have been immediate). A dispute was filed with my credit card company. On May 31st I received my first confirmation that the order was canceled and a refund would be forthcoming, which posted to my acct on June 4. I make a lot of internet purchases and rarely have a problem; typically my customer service experience is better with online vendors than store-front retailers. This experience was in no way worth the $20 I would have saved on the camera, assuming it was not grey market and the warranty was actually worth something which would be big assumptions.

EDIT. Within minutes of posting this review I got a call from "Roger" expressing surprise that I would post a negative review since I got my money back. However, I did not recieve a SINGLE response to several post-cancellation emails requesting a verification that my order was, in fact, cancelled and was not notified until nearly a month later, only after I filed a credit card dispute. It would not have taken much effort on their part to prevent me from posting a negative review. I was offered (by Roger) a free warranty if I amended my review in a more positive light. I declined. I was told to go buy my camera at another store; Actually, I did just that about a month ago for $20 more and am very pleased. I also bought the warranty from the place the camera mfg. recommended when I registered my purchase.

"06.05.13 Best price Photo has contacted me and provided a prepaid shipping label to exchange the camera. They were responsive to my concerns and considerate.

06.03.13 Best Price Photo.com has not provided the warranty / exchange that they committed to. The camera purchas was only 21 days ( from date of Invoice ) into their 30 publishced warranty.

Contact, with difficulty, has been made several times without satisfaction
