My experience couldn’t have been better

"Zager guitars are incredible. I wasn’t sure until I had one. But when mine arrived, almost out of the box, it sang in the most resonant tones due to the great woods used and the craftsmanship Danny Zager. Quite honestly, I’ve never heard a more beautiful guitar. And my hands can play it more easily because of the tiny adjustment of strings. The price was excellent and the service couldn’t have been better in all respects. I highly recommend Zager Guitars. Believe me, they will be very valuable one day! The guitar is truly an instrument of merit and a work of art. And hopefully it will help me to produce my art. Thank you Zager Guitar’s! "

Happy Customer!

"Supplier shortages have been an issue for many companies lately and Zager is no different. However they have handled the problem with complete honesty and have been a pleasure to deal with. During the few months I had to wait for my ZAD80CE-OM to be finished, I always received progress updates and had my questions promptly answered. A real pleasure to buy from them.
And it was well worth the wait! I received my guitar last week and this guitar is a real beauty. Over the years I’ve owned and played many guitars including Gibsons, Ovations, Martin and Taylor - and I would put the sound, craftsmanship, ease of playing and quality of this guitar right up there with the best of those brands. Thank you Zager for making a remarkable product at an affordable price.

Very Pleased with Zager ZAD900e and all my interactions with the company's people.

"Buying a guitar by mail order is always a stressful experience. Even in the same model, individual guitars generally have unique subtle differences (tonal, setup, wood grain and appearance), so I have usually only purchased them after having the guitar in my hands. First reaction on opening the case when it arrived was that it looked as good or better than the pictures - and having the humidity monitor looking at me from its place beside the guitar assured me that the care in packing it to preserve the wood was successful. Second reaction was seeing the instructions first thing for setting the action if you prefer to raise or lower it - while you can do this with any adjustable neck - having Zager invite you to do it, first thing implies being extra helpful to make it right. Third was tuning with the on board Fishman tuner which is intuitive, precise and convenient.

After having the guitar for 5 days and comparing it to others, I am very pleased. Guitars I compared it to are: 1976 Martin D35/12 (Love the D35s Bell Tone resonance), 1977 Ovation Adamas Carbon/Fiberglass (Love it's stability in changing indoor and outdoor conditions and big sound when pushed), 2002 Taylor 814ce (Like the balanced tonal response, particularly from audience perspective - did a blind test of three 814s, with others playing, before buying). 2019 Taylor 717 Grand Pacific (Mail order nervous to get in line early - Big Sound and bell tone highs when pushed, broad tonal response at all volumes). All these but the Ovation are Rosewood and Spruce - All of them are large bodies, so comparisons are among "similar" well made, well known guitars.

As a preface to further comments, I've observed that guitars from a players and audience perspective may be quite different. I'm not a performer (other than informal camps and family gatherings), so I especially enjoy guitars that resonate with and project acoustically to the player (for me most of the time). And as I age, I have high frequency roll off in my hearing, so I may favor a guitar that projects and resonates at high frequencies as well as low.

The Zager gives me a taste of the Martin D35/12 bell tone/wind chime background which immediately brings memories and a smile to my face. It has strong base resonance similar to the Ovation and Grand Pacific, but it doesn't have to be pushed as hard to provide it, and it has the balanced tonal qualities of both Taylors.

The most similar in big, balanced sound and resonance to me are the Zager and Taylor Grand Pacific with the exception that the Zager sprinkles a bell tone "shimmer", like little sparkling lights on dark water, over the big balanced sound. The Grand Pacific may also present that at higher playing volumes (more heavy handed). Played back to back at modest volumes the Zager retains that shimmer, the Grand Pacific is more "sultry" in comparison - warm candle light. Both wonderful tonal qualities, both great guitars.

Following up on Denny's suggestion that one can lighten up pressure on the left hand without losing tonal clarity - and lighten up on the right hand and still get a big resonant sound - it took a little bit of experimentation to trust that - as I've used the pressure needed on my other guitars over the years and that pressure is a habit. It appears that lightening up and moving more quickly will be possible, but it will take playing that way thoughtfully, to break old habits. There's a good chance I'll play more when I get that "built into" my playing.

After my experience, I'd trust that the people at Zager will take care of you, no matter what your concerns, before or after your purchase. And I expect you will be very pleased with your guitar as I have been with mine.

Amazing Guitar

"I can't begin to say how happy I am with my Zager guitar. I'm always skeptical about buying something site unseen, but I couldn't be more ecstatic. I have had many guitars in my life and this instantly became my favorite. It's so easy to play and sounds amazing. Denny has put together a great customer service team and they are always willing to go above and beyond. Kudos to your entire team! I'm sure my "brand name" guitar friends will be yearning for one once they get a chance to play mine. "

Great Guitar and Phenomenal Service!

"What a fantastic company to deal with. I ordered a Zager parlor guitar and at the time it was on back order, which I was fine with. Dennis Zager Jr. was always communicating status and answered any questions I had within minutes via email. Once the guitar arrived I was blown away! It is absolutely a beautiful piece of workmanship. Very stunning and it plays easy with incredible sound. I couldn't be happier with the guitar and the great service throughout the process. The value for the price can not be beat!"

ZAD 80 CE/N

"A few days I recieved my new custom built Zager guitar. I was very impressed with the packaging in the nice sturdy box and the guitar and case rapped securely in a thick plastic.
The case is awesome with a built in humidifier and the guitar fits in like a glove. One thing I noticed right away when I'm playing is that I'm playing much cleaner and clearer cords. This guitar is beautiful with great Craftsman Ship. I have played much more expensive guitars and Mr. Zager's guitars are right up there with the best at a fraction of the cost, not to mention the hard shell case was included. Also to my suprise I also recieved a nice leather guitar strap and a T-shirt. This beautiful instrument has me wanting to get back out there to play live fogs again. I want to thank the Zager team for your fast replys to my emails and the updates on the process of my order.

A beautiful guitar

"I purchased an easy play guitar, the Sunburst and it is the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen and now own. I'm really amazed at all the items that came with my guitar too. I received a very nice guitar case, a strap, and even a Zager t-shirt. I had an inexpensive guitar back in the 60's at a garage sale if memory serves, and somehow lost it when I moved one time. I never got another one since life just got too busy. Now I'm a senior citizen with time on my hands and decided why not get another guitar? I looked on different websites and found Zager and after many questions, decided to buy a guitar to enjoy again. After all these years I don't even know how to play anymore but I'm gonna try with my beautiful new Zager guitar. It is so well made and you can see just by looking at it that a lot of love and hard work went into building my guitar. I ordered it in August 2021 and I received it in early October 2021 as they were out of stock when I ordered it. Let me just say IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT and emails I sent off during the building process were answered within a day, or two at the most. If you're thinking about purchasing a guitar you should really check out Zager guitars first. I'm sure glad I did. Honestly my new Sunburst easy play guitar is the absolute most beautiful thing in my whole house and I can't stop looking at it. "

900ce worth the wait

"The guitar was surprisingly light weight for the sound that comes out of it. The highs are bright and the lows have a lot of resonance. The guitar is a work of art and the fine craftsmanship is apparent. The finish is flawless and the woods are gorgeous. The string height is measured at 3/16 at the 12th fret from the fretboard and I will probably experiment with bringing them down a little bit as my hands are medium size. The hard shell-case seems to be a high-end case which is molded to the guitar and it even has a built in humidistat. Customer Service was always responsive even though the parts supply chain has been slowed down. Great guitar"

Worth the wait

"I ordered the African mahogany travel guitar during the summer. It was supposed to arrive in late August. I wrote in and got an immediate response from Dennis Z. He explained that they, like many businesses, were dealing with supply chain issues because of the pandemic. I got the guitar today and my initial reaction was, " this is a really pretty guitar for the price." The wood is gorgeous and the fit and finish are equal to much more expensive guitars. The only thing I had to do was a slight truss rod adjustment. It would have played fine without it but I've been playing for over 40 years and I'm picky:) The case is also terrific and includes a digital humidity monitor. I would recommend this guitar to anyone, but especially nice for fingerpickers. The "easy play" promise is true. It feels a lot more like my telecaster than my Martin."

Love my Zager 900

"I bought an Epiphone back in the 1970s and played it for years until I stopped playing as I focused on my family and career. Kids are older and work life has slowed down, so I was able to start playing again a few years ago. I have always have had very large hands, XXL gloves, and now that I am older, they are not as flexible and stiffer than when I was younger. So, when I first heard about Zager guitars and their claims, I thought I would take a shot, and given it has a money-back guarantee, I gave it a go.

The guitar arrived yesterday, and I have been playing it since I opened the box and tuned it up. The slightly wider neck makes it easier to play chords that were challenging to get clean sounds on with my Epiphone. The strings are closer to the frets, so it is a lot easier to play.

That is not all, though. My wife walked by and said that the sound is a lot better than my other guitar. It was a lot more expensive than my Epiphone back in the 70s, but it was clearly worth it.

Best guitar in my rack

"My Zager 50 is the best-playing guitar in my rack. I have 2 Martins, a Gibson Hummingbird, and a Taylor in my rack of acoustic guitars, along with 25 electric guitars, and the Zager is by far the easiest, most comfortable to play out of all of them. I suffer from chubby fingers. With the Zager 50 there is less muted strings and no buzzing. If God sent an angel down from Heaven who told me that I had to give away all but one of my guitars to needy children, my Zager guitar is the guitar I would choose to keep. Thank you Denny and your staff."

The Guitar and Service far exceeded my expectations.

"I can’t say enough good about my Zager guitar. I own a Martin, Yamaha, Taylor, Takaminie, and a few others and they are all fine…but nothing like the quality, playability, and tone of this instrument. Once you play one, you will now exactly what I mean! "
