"Seems those folks are playing with rules and standard, importing stuff in the US that are not matching local safety codes. I bought several 110/220 V transformers today. One just burnt and our house would have burnt as well if by chance we had not be there very close by. Asking their after sales service, first response was ... well you need to read the FAQ on the web and see that we recomend you double the size of the transformer for any load you want to connect it to. Fine but a FAQ is not a limitation of liability and any product sold in the US shall match US & IEC standards. Device was a Chinese SIMRAN AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) rated 3000 VA. Anyone having pbms with that type of device is welcome to contact me. I am evaluating the possibility of an action against that company. (world import or whomever is behind) "

"I've ordered more than once from this store and each time have received above average service, good communications, and fast shipment.

On one order I had questions about what I really should be ordering. I made a phone call and described my problem and what I thought I needed. They advised that I do something different, which wound up costing quite a bit less. I really appreciated that; their assistance put me at ease about what I was purchasing being what I needed.

Items have arrived well-packed and in three working days from the store in Chicago to my home in Northern California.

The merchandise I've gotten has been brand new, and performed perfectly upon being turned on. If I have had any questions as to configuration or connections, they've taken care of them with a phone call or an e-mail.

I most certainly will do business with this company again, should I need a product that they sell.

"I have been an online consumer for last 11 years. I have been buying from World-import.com for last 8 years without any issues. There will akwats be some issues when buying mail order but Charlie and Victor always take care of it. They suggested I write a review on this site so I am doing it. These guys have a retail store so they are legitimate for sure. Any they are the only company that sells with passion. If you order a substandard item they will tell you. The complaints you read here are customers that could not wait for a solution or just wanted to ruin their name in revenge. The happy customers are busy using their equipment not writing reviews. No company can survive in such a tough market for so long without good service. Any doubts email me at ****@****. No spam and tech support please. I do not have time for it and it is not my job either."

"I paid $989.99 to the World Gift Center for a Sony Multiple Region Blu-Ray-dvd player. Sony does not make this to be multiple region (as I learned from Sony), so World Gift Center has modified, supposedly, the player in some way.
Problem is: it will NOT play antything except Region 1 & region A. I followed their (limited) instructions that were enclosed with the player--but there is no way to get it to perform as it was represented. World Gift Center is of zero help in any of this--won't talk to you; and Sony takes the position that you are trying to do something criminal! This was a complete waste of money! Be warned! Their product does not correspond to their description.

"I ordered what was presented as being a zone-free, copyright protect disabling DVD player and recorder. It was a Daytek DVR-3000, w/ ATX-500 copy enhancer (copyright disabler ) for $259.99 plus shipping. It would not record, and it would not play what it recorded. I sent it back, like others here, and they let it set around for a few days and then sent it back to me w/o opening or repairing it. Then they starting lying to me about everything. They refused payment of shipment so I disputed the credit card. As I researched, I found they were not legally doing business as they were not a corporation, were not in good standing with the Scry of State or ILL, or the BBB as they say/said (they will be removing it soon before the police get there) and Dun & Bradstreet have nothing good to say of them. Don't place an order with them, they would be out of business soon. I hope to get a judgement against them for $5000. before it is too late. "Be especially careful out there." "

"I bought a multi region and dual voltage DVD player. The player did arrive promptly. But on the player itself it says nothing about dual voltage and it had no optical digital audio output (although it clearly stated on their website that it has one).
I called and the person assured me that although it only says 110 V 60 Hz the player does work with 230 V 50 Hz as well. As for the optical audio output he said that was a mistake and they will update the website (which they since did). I asked for a partial refund, because I had wanted the optical output, but didn't really want to go through the hassle of exchanging the player just because of that. He said I should send an email because his boss wasn't there.
I did send an email about that and also asked for confirmation on the dual voltage.
Have not received any reply.

"The product I ordered did not do what it was supposed to do (multi-region DVD player). They agreed it did not do what it was supposed to do. I returned it and got refunded for the cost of the product only. I had to pay shipping both ways plus their handling fees. They refused to refund me these costs the result of them sending me a faulty product. Dealing with this company cost me nearly $100, multiple phone calls, and a lot of aggravation all for nothing in return! What a pain in the A**!"

"I purchased a DVD player of this company. After receiving the player, I discovered that it can't play many of my DVDs (standard region 1 discs). After a long back and forth with the company and having to send them not only a player but also my discs, they agreed to replace the player. Less than a year later, the new player died. Now it's been over 3 months since I sent the player back and they are still saying it's in repairs. Since I bought a player 16 months ago, I've only been able to use it for 9 months.

Most recently the company hasn't even been answering my e-mails. Avoid them if possible.
