wine didn't arrive- avoid this company

"Wine direct took 10 days, and nothing has happened with my order. I spoke to a member of staff after a week, who assured me the order would be here on time. Unsurprisingly, it didn't arrive.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced.

"I signed up to WineDirect for my wedding list - guests were able to log onto our list and offer us a bottle of wine. Over a month after the wedding I still haven't had all of the wine delivered, despite guests' money having been taken. Emails are regularly ignored, phone calls are never returned. I was told that the wine would be delivered on Saturday and waited in all day for nothing. The customer service I have experienced has been SHOCKING! Do NOT buy with this company - there are many many more companies who actually care about their customers out there."

Worst service I have ever had the displeasure to use

"Looks like I have been a victim like everybody else on here. Ordered on 30th November and have called numerous times and had no response. Customer services just tell me "I'm sorry, theres nobody answering the line at the moment......Bottle of wine was a Birthday present for somebody and I am seriously doubtful that this will arrive in time......if ever. I'd be interested to see if anybody has a direct number for these thieves!"

2 emails and three telephone message to a call centre which isn't winedirect.co.uk and cant help you.... and I cant get to speak with the company on where my delivery is, despite it saying 3-5 days delivery its not 8 days!

Poor customer service avoid this seller

"I bought 2 cases of wine for about £200. All wines were in stock when I placed the order and fully paid for the wines. About 7 days later, I started calling and emailing the company since I didn't hear back nor got any tracking number. No one replied ANY emails and the phone was always BUSY. After 2 weeks of placing the order I started a complaint with PayPal and only then the merchant decided to reply, saying that one of the wines was due in that same day (lucky me) and that they were going to deliver that same day or the next day. Clearly they didn't deliver nor made any attempt. After more than 1 month I still haven't got any wines nor my money back, although the claim at Paypal has just been decided in my favour.
I would advise anyone reading this NOT TO BUY via WINEDIRECT. They have incredibly poor customer service, take ages and are not so cheap (I found same or similar wines in other online sellers at same or cheaper prices).

Move along -- nothing of value here.

"Was given a voucher so stepped outside of my usual online wine suppliers. Was quite looking forward to finding some new hidden gems but it soon became apparent that winedirect.co.uk are just another "me too" supplier with just the usual run of the mill fare but at comparatively expensive prices and delivery costs.

Website is clunky too which never inspires confidence (e.g - when checking out you can put in your postcode but it still insists on you having to enter the country and county, plus if you go back and change anything it remembers the postcode but not the country and county - so back round the loop you go again).

I had an issue with using the voucher so e-mailed the customer service team for help - more than a week on I'm still waiting for a reply. Guess I'll persevere as it's a gift voucher but so far I'm underwhelmed by their offer and support in comparison to the usual online guys like Majestic, M&S, Laithwaites, Berry Bros, Corks Out etc. or even what's available from the main supermarket chains.

Update - 2 days later. To be fair once, I had worked through the website and actually ordered the wine, the shipping process and communication from winedirect was very slick and my order arrived very well packed via Interlink courier (so tracking updates and timed delivery slot communications sent) the next day.

"I have been waiting about 4 years for a refund of 3300 pounds - Andrew Birtley is clearing a thief and has regularly lied to me and his staff. Helen Bryant at least seemed to want to help but I don't know if the staff fully realize they are working for a dishonest and disreputable person. I am about to hire a local lawyer... so we will see"

"Ordered 12 bottles of wine from website which said 56 in stock. Upon ordering stock level fell to 44. My order was acknowledged immediately by email, and a day later another email arrived saying order being processed, then another saying order dispatched, then another from InterLink Express saying they would be delivering next day (today) between 1220-13.20. I could then track my delivery all the way to my address and the wine was delivered at 12.48. Faultless service!"

"I would not recommend WineDirect.co.uk. Same old story, take money & promise the earth, but never deliver.
Never answered a single Email when I enquired about why my order had not arrived. Phone always engaged and so on. Useless service and one which I will never use again.
Even contacting the 'shop' did not solve the problem

"ordered, money taken immediately, wine never delivered. The order status was constantly 'processing', 3 emails sent with no acknowledgement, phone always 'engaged'. Avoid this lot like the plague - or at least use Paypal to pay because you're going to need to claim your money back. I did....."

"Similar comments to others - seem good on the their website, v.quick to take your money; but beginning to look like the wine will never be sent. Cant get through on phone or no response. Reading other reviews and assuming they are genuine they do actual sell and deliver some wine to some people so not a scam, just let down by v.poor service and if the wine doesn't turn up - well - taking money for a good/service and not delivering?"

"We have been waiting 11 working days for our order to arrive (the terms say 5-7 working days). we've sent three emails asking what is going on and have received three read receipts saying the email has been deleted without being read. The phone lines are constantly engaged. No one has bothered to explain what is wrong and once our order arrives we'll never be using them again!
