Completely Satisfied

"ordered 18 shutters for my daughter and son in-laws new home. Received them in about 8 weeks as quoted. All shutters were made to the dimensions I ordered and the quality is what I would be considered good, only issues I had were with the frame joints, some were off center and so I had to glue them and bar clamp them and use the touch paint provided along the joint. The cost of the Shutters were less than half what was quoted by a local shutter company, but then we had to install and the quality may not be as good - but we saved $5K. "

Took a Chance on them...

"While their customer service is very friendly, the shutters that they sent me were several inches too short for both length and width. I double checked my invoice, and the dimensions that I provided them were 100% correct. So now I am hoping they will honor their return policy, and send me what I ordered. The quality of the shutters is above average, but I could not recommend them to friends or family. "

I Do NOT recommend this company!!!

"Damagedinstall, shutters will not position correctly, left multiple Tex/phone messages with no return call.
My only resort at this point is to proceed with small claims court. Sooo frustrating . I paid a lot of money for quality shutters and I am very disappointed !

Avoid the shutterstore - waste of money and time

"I have purchased over $4000 in shutters from these clowns. All the shutters I received were not built to the right size. As a result, none of the shutters close. I have an email conversation with them where they have essentially admitted that something was done wrong on their side and that was the end of it -- no further communication on how they were going to fix it. So here I am with a bunch of shutters that don't fit and they've made it clear that they don't care. I'll be taking further action against them via my credit card company and/or legal action."

Go with a local vendor who will care

"I have sadly had to resort to negative reviews. Received shutters in January (in US) and they were cream instead of white so I cannot use them. After a long back-and-forth via email and a dispute I had to open with my credit card, they have STILL not refunded my money and the shutters are still in boxes. I would have to pay at least $700 to have them repainted by a local body shop so I'm asking for a refund.

1) I was never warned verbally or via email or on their website that color swatches can vary depending on wood and manufacturing facility. Had I known that I would have definitely ordered a sample in Poplar vs American Hardwood. Why have paint swatch samples if they're not consistent?

2) After sending the rep screenshots of their website to prove they did not warn of color variations between materials, they CHANGED THEIR WEBSITE language in those exact spots I pointed out and sent me a screenshot back the next day showing that EXACT LINE having been changed and said, “the website has specific verbiage regarding the variation in color between ranges on our Samples Request page. Please find attachment.” The attachment was indeed a screenshot of that page with the new verbiage. They were acting like it had always been there — as if I had not just sent them screenshots the day before. Unethical.

I have tons of neighbors with the same window dilemmas and they were waiting to see how my shutters came out. I would have loved to recommend TSS, but instead, I told them to go with other vendors - preferably local because they are more likely to care.

Steer clear if you value your money and your time!!!

" All seemed well until there were problems. I can honestly say I have never experience such awful and insincere customer service. I paid £200 extra for the express service. When the shutters arrived they were damaged and unusable and the Shutter Store has absolutely refused to refund my £200 on the grounds that they were delivered in time - too bad if the delivery was a pile of loose slats and ripped out screws which took forever to get fixed. They sent me pins so that I could dismantle and repair the shutter myself!

In addition, the shutters were built in such a way that the left and right sides did not line up and would never align without modification. I was provided every excuse under the sun- I got it wrong - they are self install so if they aren't right it is my responsibililty to make them fit - they are not covered by warranty cos one was bigger than the max size (warranty for manufacture? whatever next.)

I had to fight really hard to get them to do anything and in the end (months later) they sent someone to find out what i was complaining about. He repaired the "express delivery" shutter and modified those other - both of which were touted as them doing me a terrific favour.

The final terrible experience was when their operations director told me that i had got such a bargain. Quote "Hilary's would have cost me £750 and I only paid £415" except of course the additional £200 for delivery making it £615. For a small difference i didn't get express shutters only an express delivery man and a pile of plastic, so much grief and, having used Hilary's before, nothing close to the same quality.

Steer well clear if you value your money and your time.

Incredible quality and customer service...

"Ordered shutters for four windows. They arrived ahead of expected shipping date and were stunning in their appearance. We had them do a custom paint job on the poplar wood we chose. It could not have matched our home's interior better if we had painted it ourselves.

The shutters fit like a dream. The only issues I had with respect to installation were related to the fact that two of my windows in my brand new home were slightly out of square and I had to custom make two small shims to place behind the shutter hinges.

Wife loves their look and I am a hero for suggesting we get shutters from the Shutter Store.

Their customer services is exceptional! They held our hand every step of the way and checked and double checked our orders with us over the phone. We made several changes to our order as our plans for our home changed. The customer services reps were polite, and always seemed focus on making us happy.

They succeeded. We are happy indeed.

Buyer beware, very poor quality.

"Very poor quality shutters. Shutters will not stay closed without installing ugly magnets because hinges are too tight. The company refused to acknowledge our concerns and return them. now we are stuck with $3000 worth of useless plastic"

"We purchased shutters last year for our bay window from 'The Shutter Store', they are fantastic, and look absolutely brilliant, very easy to fit, and fitted perfectly, Jan Heaven was a pleasure to deal with, no question too small or silly to answer, especially when I was getting confused over measurements, she made the whole process simple from beginning to end, thank you. If you are thinking of getting shutters, look no further than this store. I have not reviewed these before now, as I like to see how things go, and if there are any problems after being used for a while, everything is perfect."

"Great product but unfortunately the company is not well managed. Their site quotes you 6-7 week delivery. That is complete nonsense. If they were simply upfront with me from the start, I wouldn't be upset. Their true delivery time is over 10 weeks (and that's in California). Probably add on at least another week if you're in the East Coast. On my last order, my order confirmation email went to their SPAM folder, and they never even submitted my order until they called me 2 weeks later. They credited me back the shipping and said they would move my order up to the front of production. That was a lie. Still waiting on my order 9 weeks later. It's too bad because the product itself is good. Nice color, nice quality, sturdy. They do however, have a VERY strong paint smell for the first few weeks. So much so that I had to remove them after installing as I woke up with a migraine the next morning and let them air out on my patio.

**UPDATE: Finally received my shutters after 10 weeks. Problem is they are warped and won't close. Customer support was helpful and offered to replace them. Only issue is that I now have to wait another 10 weeks! Also after writing reviews, I finally got the information and follow up that ALL of their customers deserve. They gave me weekly status updates. I've read this complaint from other customers. If there are delays, as there are with the ports, this should be noted on your website, on the order check out page, even a pop up announcing this. It's critical information that should be noted PRIOR to placing orders with your company. Maybe even consider waiving the shipping fees entirely for all orders due to the inconvenience this causes.

"I could not be more thrilled with my purchase at The Shutter Store. I was worried that ordering something like shutters online could be a hassle, but their easy step-by-step instructions made it simple. The biggest seller to me about my entire experience was the customer service. I have NEVER worked with a company like this- I felt as though they truly valued me and were genuinely interested in helping me and making this such a smooth experience for me. I was completely blown away and have recommended this company to all my family and friends. "I've purchased from The Shutter Store twice and on both occasions I've found them great to work with. I purchased one window to try them out as I was a little worried about my measurements. The office called me to talk over the details and make sure I'd done it correctly and fortunately when the shutters arrived they were a perfect fit.

I ordered additional windows a few months later and while there was an issue (i ordered the wrong color but this was corrected by the office) the process overall was great.

Have recommended them to friends and would do so to anyone looking for shutters.

"Initial issues were resolved through compensation by a friendly administrator named Jose. If I decide to shop with the Shutter Store again Jose offered to directly work with me to ensure everything goes smoothly in the process.

My customer service 5 star rating applies only to Jose as this administrator alone was able to efficiently and satisfactorily resolve the entire issue in a single phone call.

I was going to delete my review entirely, but as I do not see an option for this I have modified my overall rating to a 3 stars, balancing out the initial bad with the favorable resolution, and will alter it as appropriate based upon any future interactions.

"Hi Jose,
I received my shutters and have installed them. I wanted to let you know how happy I am with them. I was worried what with this being a large order that something would be wrong, but ever one was perfect. There was not a single flaw. Your web site instructions made all of the work flow perfectly. The only suggestion I have is that the box that has the hardware inside be marked more boldly. I suppose that is only an issue when someone has a large order with many boxes. I am amazed at how precise and perfect that the fit and finish is on each shutter. I am so glad to have made this purchase from your store. I had looked at plantation shutters for years now, but the cost and installation charges were far to expensive. The handling, care, and packaging were awesome. Having received many items shipped to my home, none have ever been packaged so well. I hope you will pass on my thanks to those who are responsible for this task. For anyone that ask, I will recommend your store for a truly exceptional experience.
