"I wish I had found these reviews before placing an order through The Dining Room Space. The company has extremely poor customer service and seems to try to avoid replacing defective products at all costs. I ordered a pair of leather club chairs in early July and was told it should take about 1-2 weeks to arrive and that I would receive a tracking number. I never received confirmation of shipment or a tracking number. After 2 weeks, I called to follow up and was given a delivery date. Not bad (although I shouldn't have to be hunting down this information as any reputable furniture company will proactively communicate with you about shipment and delivery dates). The chairs arrived and one had a defective leg and was completely unusable. I called customer service while the delivery man was still in our home to see if I should refuse the delivery of the defective chair and request a new one. They said no, I needed to keep the defective chair and file a claim online. So I promptly filed a claim within 20 minutes of delivery. I was then told a replacement part would be sent to me via FedEx to repair the chair to working order. I'm still waiting...I have received no tracking number, and a week later the part still isn't here. Every time I call The Dining Room Space one of two women picks up the phone. It makes me wonder if this company is being run out of someone's home? In any case, if you are looking for a courteous, reliable and professional furniture buying experience, I would not recommend buying through this site.

Update on 7/26/10: I called The Dining Room Space twice today to follow up as it has been 8 days since they last communicated with me about the missing part (which has still not arrived and they have not confirmed if has even shipped). Both times I was told the only staff member who handles claims was too busy to talk with me. Another customer service rep said she would try to help and would call me back this afternoon with an update. I never received a call back. I'll try again tomorrow!

Update on 8/3/2010: The replacement part from the manufacturer finally arrived two weeks after the defective chair had been delivered. (This could have been overnighted via FedEx.) I have received no follow-up at all from The Dining Room Space to make sure the part was received or to see if it solved the issue. I will reiterate one last time: The Dining Room Space has extremely poor customer service! If you can find the same products elsewhere, AVOID The Dining Room Space!

Update as of 8/17: Thankfully the replacement part for my chair worked. However I was so disappointed with my experience at TheDiningRoomSpace.com that I contacted one of the site's founders and shared the horrible customer service I had. I expected he, or someone at the company, would respond with at least a "sorry, and thanks for contacting us so can continue to work towards ensuring all of customers have a good experience" blah blah blah. I guess poor service starts at the top for this company. I've received no response whatsoever.

"Frustrated beyond belief. Placed 2 orders on 5/10/2010 and 5/12/2010. Backordered and eta was 6/11.

It's now 6/25 and I still do not have the order. I have followed up with them religiously for the last 3 weeks. I keep getting the run around. Same thing everytime ... they say "I will check with the manufacturer and will get back to you with an update and tracking number." Then they either don't call you back or give you some lame update that they are still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer.

This week, Roshanna told me that both my orders have already been shipped out. And I will receive the tracking number shortly. I did not get the tracking number. The next day I get an update that my first order will be shipped out the following day and the 2nd order is due to ship out on 6/30. The next day I called to get the tracking number since the order was suppose to be shipped out. Of course, they don't have a tracking no to give. They said, we will have it tomorrow. I called the next day again ... same story. At this point Deone, the Manager, tells me that I cannot cancel the order since the order has been shipped. And yet, she was unable to give me a tracking number. If the order was shipped out, then they should have the tracking number to prove it. But she is adamant that the order has been shipped and I now have to wait another 3 days before I get my tracking number. (In 3 days, I should be receiving my order at my home .. not the tracking number).

I asked to speak to the owner of RJD stores, another manager, the shipping dept ... no one was conveinently available or cared.

If you want a refund, it has to be in writing and the accounting dept is never around. Why do I have to submit for a refund in writing when you don't ask for the same to charge my card for an order? Also, WHY DO YOU CHARGE MY CARD AT THE TIME OF PLACING THE ORDER RATHER THAN CHARGING ONCE THE ITEM HAS BEEN SHIPPED? (big red flag).

After I had a circular argument with Deone today for 20 minutes, I had no choice but to call my credit card company and open up a dispute ticket to ensure they withdraw the money from RJD stores.

I will NEVER do business with RJD Stores. Highly and consistenly incompetent, unprofessional, no one cares except when you want to place an order, check out their other reviews ... shows consistency in the "manufacturer" not having the item and items always being delivered late by weeks.

I have to question the good reviews that show up here. I wonder if a relative of RJD stores has put up that review to balance out the bad/true reviews.

Bottom line - do not get sucked in because they came lower in prices by a few dollars. Do not do business with RJD Stores unless you want drama in your life.

"I do not recommend this company at all. Ordered a set of chairs 3 weeks ago. The order said typical shipping in 5-7 days. I've called 3 times and was promised an update 'by the end of the day' and of course no call back, no email, etc.

Now I've requested a refund. You can't ask for a refund via their CS. Has to be submitted through their site.

I have had a bad experience with this company, and perhaps this is the exception but of course would not recommend doing any sort of business with them.

"Where should I start - - how about BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!! If you are in no hurry to receive your merchandise and don't care how long it takes to get your money refunded, this is the place for you to shop. By far, the worst buying experience I've ever had to deal with. After placing a $3,200 dining room order, I patiently waited for 3 weeks for a response. I finally decided to call to get an update. With each passing day came a new phone call placed by me to get an even worse excuse than the day before. If I heard, "let us look into it and we'll call you right back" once, I heard it 25 times and not once did I actually get a call back. The other reviews have comments from the company that they take customer feedback seriously . . . well they may take it seriously, but I'm not so sure they do anything with it. After about a week's worth of phone calls and excuses someone finally offered up "the paperwork is still sitting on someone's desk here". I hung up and called around locally and found someone that I could trust and then called back about an hour later to cancel my order. Here's where it got good. "Well sir, we'll have to contact the manufacturer and make sure it hasn't shipped yet". Ok, so nothing gets done in 4 weeks and now in a matter of 2 hours (at most), the order/PO has been sent to the manufacturer, they arranged for a local carrier to pick it up and it is already on a truck headed my way . . . I don't think so. I had to get pretty irate to just get them to cancel the order because they wanted me to write an e-mail, etc. before they would cancel it. They did finally cancel it. Shortly thereafter, one of the part-owners e-mailed me asking to take an additinal discount to keep the order active. I declined. A week goes by, and I call to get the status of the credit. Guess what, nothing has been done to process the credit. It's been 10 days and I've been sent notification from the accounting group saying that the credit has been issued, but my credit card still doesn't show it hitting my account.

Long story short on this one - - good luck if you decide to purchase from this web-scam, I mean site.

"WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD ONLINE!! There antisipated date of delivery was 3 weeks after purchase date 3-8-10. Started checking on the 16th and had many receipts to my e-mail but no information (except for checking on). On the 23rd they finally, after another request say that it is back ordered for 14-16 weeks. REALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING FROM THEM IF YOU HAVE A NEEDED DATE IN MIND (I WAS ALLOWING 1 MORE WEEK THAN THEY WERE ESTIMATING)."

"I have to rave about the experience about buying furniture from TheBedroomSpace.com / RJD Stores. I literally spent a month looking for a dining room set for our new home. It was a risk to buy something on line where you have never even touched the product. However, I googled up what I wanted and landed on TheBedroomSpace.com I was leary about them selling dining room furniture so I called their customer service line and got Justin. What a guy! He was professional and so helpful. He took my order over the phone, quoted me a delivery time and it was done. The furniture arrived exactly when he said it would and it is exquisite. I even called to order more pieces today. TheBedroomSpace.com has the best prices on the net for furniture. And if you don't see something - just call and ask. They can find it for you. "Ordered four chairs, which I had checked out on several other sites, finding Dining Room Space to offer the best price. They told me I would have them in five weeks, and I actually received them a day or two early. "Ordered a ~$2000 Italian glass table that arrived essentially when promised. The supposed "white glove" delivery comprised two slovenly men who simply placed the glass top on the base. They seemed impatient to leave, left my front door open and tracked snow all over the floor with nary an apology. Not seeing any obvious damage other than dust and Styrofoam pellets clinging to the glass we allowed them to leave.

While cleaning the table with ordinary glass cleaner it soon became apparent the glass was covered in deep scratches. Extremely upset we realized it was too late to refuse the shipment but figured, hey, this company will of course stand behind its customers and make this right. So we took lots of hi-res photos the next morning, Sunday, and emailed the company explaining everything. Two days passed and we heard nothing so we called - they said, we had to send the email to "claims", which we did. They refused to give any contact names whatsoever. Red flag number 1.

Several more days pass and we hear nothing. Today we call customer service and they said "we can't do anything, you have to file a claim". We tell him we did that. Rudely, he says, "you just have to wait". Later we get an email that tries to shift blame by saying, "you accepted the delivery". Yes, we say, but we didn't see the scratches until we cleaned it. Then they try and tell us that we waited 48 hours before filing a claim, which is false. Then they say they are going to "ascertain" a solution.

Well, they need to ascertain this: we got a defective table. Probably a factory second. It is tempered glass and can only be scratched with another piece of tempered glass, high carbon steel, or a glass cutter. They are implying, of course, the WE scratched it, which is patently absurd. Any company worth its salt would 1) apologize, 2) contact the manufacturer, 3) do what it takes to make this right. We paid nearly $2000 for this table and we have a right to expect one without scratches all over it.

If they do not make this right we will post on every consumer-oriented web site we can find and file a complaint with the CC company and the Atty General's office in our state.

Update 4/6/2010 - They did contact the mfr and a flawless top was re-delivered, so we are very happy that they did make it right. And since they made it right I feel I have an obligation to let people know. It seems like we finally were able to get through to a very nice and helpful person who was able to expedite the replacement.

"This order took almost two months to deliver but through no fault of the seller, the manufacturer ran out of the product. I was well pleased by the courtesy shown whenever I would check on the order. When it was delivered from the manufacturer it was short one piece and another was damaged in transit. RJD claims department arranged that very day for me to pick a replacement of the shortage at a local retail store. An agreeable adjustment was made for the slight shipping damage and they even suggested ways that I could repair the damage. I am very satisfied with the produce and service."

"I was hesitant to order dining room chairs over the internet but could not find a local retailer that would offer me anything less then 8-10 weeks and I needed the chairs for my husbands birthday. We found the Kathy Ireland Sonoma County chairs on a variety of web sites but this one had the best prices and included shipping. I ordered on Oct 8th and the chairs were delivered on Oct 27th, so about 2 1/2 weeks or so which I found very acceptable. The shipping company called to schedule drop off of boxes and was courteous. The chairs were all in great shape and were easy to assemble and are very well constructed. I would definitely order from this company again."

"I ordered a Brownstone Dining Room Set from The Dining Room Space after going to my local retailer and finding the price very high. I went online and noticed that they were offering free shipping with setup. My wife and I were VERY nervous about making such a large purchase online but felt a lot better after speaking with Becky who calmed down my fears. I was promised delivery within 2 weeks and after 2 1/2 weeks and no delivery, I started to become very suspicious. (Even More so my Wife-lol) I called and spoke to a gentleman (I forgot his name) who told me that I would be contacted by the shipping company that day. Later that evening, the shipping company called me and set up delivery time for the following week. The delivery company called me 30 minutes before arriving and showed up on time. The driver James Lewis and his assistant could not have been nicer and more helpful. We inspected all of the items before they left. We are currently looking forward to a thanksgiving dinner with family and friends using our beautiful dining room table and chairs. I promised Becky that I would take the time to write a good review as she explained to me that most people only review when upset. I would highly recommend shopping with The Dining Room Space especially if you are not pressed for time."

"I ordered a coffee table, months went by, I kept calling to inquire about status, they were evasive, finally I called and they told me that they "couldn't ship to my location." (near DC) Shipping was supposed to be included in the price of the item. I still haven't gotten it, though they did eventually say they would send it "white glove" (adding additional delay), and only ship immediately if I agreed to waive all transit damages (!!!).
I would stay away from these people.
