"I received a defective CPU as soon as I found out when I opened the package. Their representative told me that because I didn't call one day earlier, no exchanges or refunds are allowed. In-fact, I did call one day earlier but their company is in EST and when I had called, their business was closed and there was no answering machine. I received the CPU on Friday and I did not open the package until yesterday (Monday). I am very unpleased with this situation and surprised that a company doing e-business could be so unprofessional. This company does not have any good moarls and leaves customers with defective merchandise. I contacted pricewatch.com and other organizations regarding this situation so that hopefully no one else will go through what I have gone with them."

"A memory purchase was back-ordered and I missed an
email notification. When I called ACMicro, they
cancelled the order, because I could not use the substitute they could provide. The next day
my credit card account was credited for the
full amount. Good business.
Sometimes things go wrong and a good business
sets them right as ACMicro did in this case.

"Dont buy a processor from this company unless you want to be ripped off. ordered and amd thunderbird 1.2 for and old motherboard(msi k7t turbo2) i have. processor failed to boot the machine so i tried it on a diffrent motherboard(abit kt7a) still didnt work. contacted their tech support and got an rma number and sent the processor back for a new one. when i checked the status of the rma it said no exchange cpu burned. I'm no genius but i am pretty sure i know how to put a heatsync on a processor and if the heatsync was the cause of the problem (highly unlikely) they should still replace it because i ordered the heatsync from acmicro too. After reading the reviews of people who bought processors from this company it wouldnt supprise me if they were just reselling old repackaged cpu's as oem. Dont buy a processor from this company or you may just end up with one of the processors so many people have returned."

"On May 30th I ordered 2 sticks of 512MB PC133 SDRAM DIMM. They were delivered on June 4th and I installed them right away. Everything booted up normally, but the system crashed about 5 minutes later. "Oh no", I thought, "I've been ripped off!" But, I began troubleshooting and found 1 stick worked and the other didn't. I contacted ACMicro immediately and got an RMA. I shipped the defective stick back and received it's replacement in just a few days. I'm very satisfied with the purchase: price and recovery from a bad part."

"This guy is a rip-off. They give you athe appearance of some BIG company when in fact it is not more than 2 guys. We ordered a XEON CPU. First of all they charged us for a heastsink/fan when in fact it was already on the damn cpu. Secondly our customer ordered wrong one so we sent it back and agreed to the 20%(can you believe it?) restocking fee. We asked for a refund at that time and were told what the check would be for. Still to this day we have NOT received a check. When we called on July, 15th we were told that a check was cut for an amount that was another $80 less than they told us. "Current Market Value" is the excuse we were given. It is not our fault they waited until now to value the product we returned on May 30th. Currently we are contact Attorney General and BBB. Also a local news station in thier area. I would advise that you do NOT do business with these dishonest people!"

If you gamble on AC Micro, then you are going to lose money like in Las Vegas.

This is the *first* time that I've had to deal with a company.

* I ordered a Hitach 30GB HD on Thu, April 24, 2003.

* It says I received the drive on Thu, May 1st, 2003, UPS had left the HD to next door neighbor!

* Got back my drive on Mon, May 3rd, 2003.

- They sent me a labeled Hitachi 30GB HD, only that it was really an old IBM TravelStar 6GB!

* After many tries, I finally got RMA, sent back drive on May 12, 2003.

I asked customer support if I could get a refund. Customer support asks when I received the item. I said, 5-1-03. Customer support says, ok we can refund your drive. It's within their 14 day return policy.

Customer support asks to try another drive. I said ok if I'm entitled to return the drive for refund should it not work again. Customer support said yes. I gave the green light.

* AC Micro receives RMA'ed drive on Mon, May 19, 2003, at *my* expense.

* No word on my HD for 23 days!

* Thu, June 12, 2003, I called AC Micro and just asked to cancel the order. It's been almost two months!

Customer support, James, who claims he is also the supervisor, was just plain rude.

He tells me that the drive is being shipped on Sun, June 6, 2003.

James remarks:

- no refund. you past your 14 days. from the day you order to the day you return. UPS transit time takes 14 days round trip, so you lost rights to return from the time you ordered.

- common sense tells you that you can't make this order in the first place. look at New Egg's policy, theirs is 7 days.

- the person rambles about my incompetance and
the conversation ensues into:
- take us to court if you want
me: are you pressuring me?
- take us to court if you want
me: are you pressuring me?
- if that's your choice
me: are you pressuring me?
- it's all up to you
me: are you pressuring me?
- no i am not

- he offers me 20% restocking fee

...........

This will be the last time I buy from small companies, period.

Stay away from AC Micro should you even feel like gambling. I am dead serious.

"Before I read this website, I purchased a hard drive and some memory. When I looked at the ratings of previous customer, I got a bad feeling in my stomach. I was hoping everything would go well! "They had a close-out on on Slot-A AMD cpu's. They had a 850mhz available at rock-bottom price--literally $40.00 less than anyone else on Pricewatch-or Ebay.
I say to myself: "This is too good to be true" Since I was putting this in as a gift for someone to upgrade their PC for Christmas, I gambled on it. The cpu was described as OEM. It had obviously been pulled--but looked good--and came very well packaged which did offer me a bit of hope. I purchased this in Oct. and had no way to test it. With fingers crossed I waited to update the PC for Christmas. Well, put it in and zippo--dead as a friggin doornail. Luckily, I had planned on failure by reading the comments for this company here on Reseller. I had also obtained an 800mhz version, and installed without a hitch. Because of the length of time involved, I had little hope that company would honor any kind of return. So, I wasnt too disappointed when my 2 emails were ignored. I gambled and lost, dont follow my lead, buy elsewhere.

"To make a long story short.

I searched high and low to find a retail box AMD processor that would fit my older board. I wanted retail because of the warranty.
The only place I could find it was at AC Micro.

- Found ACMicro through Pricewatch
- Purchased online an AMD Athlon processor - Retail Box (smooth transaction)
- Received processor, opened SEALED box, NO processor!!!(Heatsink, Fan and manual were still there)
- Called immediately and sent email to ACMicro (Friday night - closed)
- No response comes next Tuesday
- Called them and they said, "if it was sealed, not our problem call AMD"
- I call AMD and they tell me I have to return to dealer (AC Micro)
- Called and e-mailed ACMicro, they said no (all they have to do is return it to their distributor, no loss to them)
- Found this message board...wish I did before I purchased the CPU
- Found complaints on BBB too
- Visited AC Micro website over and over stating "Customer satisfaction" posted all over site
- Contacted AMD again, we did some research. The serial number on the cooling fan is not legit....hmmm
- AMD reluctantly agreed to replace the CPU with a lower speed
- Contacted ACMicro and told them the situation, no response

Cost
$59 CPU replaced by a $24 (lower speed)
$30+ bucks in long distance phone calls
5-6 hours of grief/research

Issues

- I understand it looks like something fishy was going on, but
it's 100% true. I opened the package at a B-day party and over 20 people
witnessed it. I own a business to, and I would question it also, but
to not give me any help or direction really ticked me off.

- I could have disputed the charge with the credit card company, but it
would have been too much hassle as I ordered it for the company I work for
and all the paperwork would have been a nightmare. On top of that, I have
a perfect credit card record and I didn't want to have this
go on record, even though it didn't effect me.

- The invoice/receipt was odd. They scanned the
box onto the receipt to show the serial number.
Someone suggested, they scanned the box to show that
it was sealed and to have proof their wasn't any wrong
doing on their end. I agree! Most company just have the
SN on record...they don't have to send a picture of it!

- The SN on the cooling fan does not match any AMD record.
- The manual was not NEW NEW, it was ruffled up a little bit
- The wrap on the box is not legit either, I sent it to AMD
to verify

All in all, maybe ACMicro was not at fault and they did not know either. Maybe the bogus
product came from their distributor, but I find it strange that they would not
help me by sending it back to the distributor. Again, no loss to them. I think they are
banking on that is was a small sale and it would take too much money to resolve it (court, BBB, etc).

"I purchased a PIII 500 SECC2 slot 1 processor to upgrade Compaq Deskpro EP 6350. I have done this before without an issue. I could not get the PC to boot properly with the new chip. Worked with ACMicro staff to diagnose problem (probably BOIS). Worked with Compaq but could not upgrade BOIS on this model. ACMicro accepted the return with a reasonable re-stocking charge."

"Free ground shipping nice. Mobo arrived with visible damage to a fan connector, board wouldn't boot with PCI vid card. Sent back, they charged me shipping to send me the replacement. Replacement board didn't read RAM over 128meg and wouldn't flash properly.

This was an Abit VL6. I was replacing the current one I had since it's having capacitor problems. All the parts work in my board, not either of the two they sent. Returned last board for refund. Horrible experience.

"I ordered an AMD xp 1900 from these people from pricewatch, was it was the cheapest place, i decided to go with these people.

I had a hard time just to give them my credit card number over the phone (i called from work to order it, and i was not near a computer) they told me like 15 times to order online, not over the phone, it wasnt until i finally screamed and they let me order over the phone.

anyways, 3 days passed, put it this way, i forgot what company i ordered the processor from, no confirmation number, no messages, no invoice number, nothing of that sort... finally, 3 weeks later, the processor came. 3 weeks later!!!

so anyways, i put this processor on my motherboard, i put the silver compound, and a nice copper heatsink.. i turn on the computer, nothing happened. i tried it again, it turned on, only to turn off 3 seconds later, and never work again..

i went to a local store, bought another processor (xp 1900) worked flawlessly.

so after a hard time of searching, i find AC micro's number and i call them, (and its long distance too!) they just screamed at me telling me it was negligence, calling me names, and telling me that they will nto exchange it because it was not under warranty, apparantly they only give you a 14 day warranty when it takes THREE WEEKS TO GET HERE! i would seriously NEVER DO BUSINESS with them again!!
