SpotHero Parking in 87-35 131st Street, NYC

"We waited for over two hours for valet pick up from the JFK airport to the parking site. Called a number of times and yet was told would be in 10 minutes. Got so frustrated that we paid for a private taxi to the parking site to pick up our car. We will never use this service again. "

unreliable service

"The service doesn't seem reliable, I made a reservation in advance and arrived to the site only to find that the whole lot was full. I called and was told I would receive a refund as well as some reimbursement for my troubles. however its one week later and have they still have not done so."

Incorrect details on parking spots and directions

"Used Spothero 7 - 10 times in Denver in the last 2 months. Never again.

First time used - directions told me to take a ticket and scan my parking pass when I left. I did just that and was told by the lot I had to pay the full parking amount and that the SH directions were wrong. I was supposed to scan on my way in. Thankfully the lot attendent was great to deal with and she took care of it. Completely incorrect info from Spothero.

Tried again at a different lot. Drove up, showed my pass and was told I had to pay again on entrance. I showed him what SH had as directions and he said they were wrong. He allowed me to enter and took down my plate # to make sure I did not get towed (even though I had already given to SH for the reservation). Found out that lot would have been the same price without SH issues.

Used a different lot a few other times - no major issues, but also no real savings.

Tried a new lot yesterday and the directions were wrong all the way around! Address given was for a loft across the street from the lot. As it was a one way street I could not get over or turn around, and had to drive around multiple blocks to get back to lot. Spothero specifically stated that the lot WAS NOT on 18th street. I drove across the street and it was short term guest parking. The adjacent lot was for an apartment building, not the lot I paid for. Another exit and multiblock one way detour. Called the hotel and they told me that they had this issue all the time with SH as the address and directions were wrong. The lot is next to their main entrance, on 18th Steet where SH specifically said it was not. After 20 minutes I finally got the lot. Late for work, a customer meeting and irritated to boot. Contacted SH and they said I should have used their navigation in the app. I told them I did - until it became clear I would have driven into a plate glass window and a lobby that was most definitely NOT a lot.

The parking would have been the same price had I just driven up to the lot, and a lot less of a headache. Never again. And, SH still has the incorrect detail for this lot.

Waste of time... don’t bother!

"I asked for their assistance in leasing my spot for the World Aries in Washington DC. I kept waiting for their reply per their website. Never heard from them so I called. They said there’s a 3-4 week delay before I would be assigned to a rep. Going forward, I il just use Craigslist and leave this a**holes out if it. COMPLETE waste of time..."

full lot trumps guaranteed prepaid reservation

"I am still fuming. Made a reservation yesterday morning (8/29/2019) for a parking spot by soldiers field in Chicago for the Bears game. Arrived a few minutes after 7 pm and the lot was full. I showed the attendant that i had a reservation - to bad so sad for me. I immediately called customer service who did apologize and said she would refund my money. The rep did mention that when we find another lot if it was more money they would refund the difference. It took us over 1/2 hour to find another open lot. I would say luckily it was less money but the wasted 1/2 hour and brouhaha from the original lot meant that we got to our seats at the stadium at 2 minutes until 1/2 time. We missed 1/2 the game.
The only bright spot is that i booked with paypal and will be filing a claim with them.

Do not trust SpotHero!

"I was recently towed from a spot reserved through SpotHero at a cost of $300. They seem to think that they can solve this by giving me $50 in free parking! And no, they don’t guarantee that I won’t just be towed again. This company does NOT stand by their product. Do not download their app or use their service!"

Cheaper not to use it

"Bought the parking spot online for $25 and then get to the venue and find the same exact lot for $20. Feel cheated out of the $5. May have bought it anyway for securing a spot (since I don't normally go to Giants games) if I had been warned, but was not given the choice. I dislike this and won't be using this again. "

Never use Spot Hero

"I purchased 2 spots for my graduation in DC and the garage would not let us in stating it was full. Spot Hero guaranteed I would have the spots even if the full sign was out. NOT! I had to drive around looking for a spot so I wouldn't be late walking into the arena. The customer service rep told me I should have called to be relocated. Well guess what! I tried and the line was busy and I didn't have time to wait since I was graduating. This process ****! I will also be filing a complaint with Strayer since they recommended this company. "

DISHONEST. DO NOT USE!

"I reserved a spot in nyc for $24 and read all details. Upon picking up my car I was told I owed the remainder of $60. (The lot was 70th park ops LLC). The manager began to yell at me when I told him he was dishonest about the cost (he had told me $15 extra for suv- and I agreed). "

Impossible to make changes to your advantage

"I had a reservation for a lengthy period of time (10 days); however, due to circumstances, I was forced to return home within 24 hours of my departure time and using the app I exited from the garage only to be charged the full amount for 10 days. The app doesn't allow for changes (only extending your time period) to your reservation; therefore when calling to dispute this charge the man, customer service representative representing the company was rude and overspoke the entire conversation only to say I would be charged the full amount and my only option in future situations like this one...would be to call on the spot to cancel...which forces you to be placed on a 10-15 minute waiting period while you are sitting in the garage waiting to check out. Ridiculous right?

Although I have enjoyed this facility (Houston, TX airport almost weekly for over 3 months) I will now find a new facility and never use them again. Amazing how poor customer service and deceptive practices ruin a business.

"I parked at 221 Thompson street in NYC, they put my keys in another car that is in Westchester. SpotHero only offered me a $10 credit for my inconvenience. Totally irresponsible and irritating. Beware if you park there and have a spare."

TOWED after confirmation went through WHILE WITH MY TWO YEAR OLD!!!

"I am just very disappointed in SH. For the simply fact they act as though their app is just the PERFECTION OF APPS. I was in the city last Friday, confirmed the night before. Booked my spot. First time trying an outdoor spot so I was excited. Not even a block from where we were going. Arrived, parked, took photo of my plates for reference and my plate number to my account. Came back out the car was gone. NO WARNING, no nothing. Just gone.

Not to mention, I had my two year old with me, with his car seat now gone in my car that was towed on top of other baby items I needed which magically disappeared. I called SH right away, they apologized for the issue THEY HAD CASUED and told me where my car was and that once I was finsihed to gather ALL documents to send over and have SH file to get my $200 back I had spent, not to mention the $14 of the MOST UNSAFE car right with my 2 year old not in a seat, IN CHICAGO. So they have not only been the cause of my money being taken but now also taking away the safety factor I have for my child. What if I had my other kid?????? two babies without car seats?? just in some random uber in the city??? like SH, you risked my kids safety when you had my car towed.

I did EXACTLY what SH said and sent them the info RIGHT AWAY!! They also sent me an email while on my way over there that I should send them the towing documents as soon as possible so they can take care of them.....but now I am being ignored.

SPOT HERO MADE AN ERROR,. Technology and apps have issues everyday, that's understandable, I work in the tech field myself. But SH made an error this time, their app caused myself and my family a major issue financially, safety wise and also discriminated against us. The fact that your app failed and you guys just refuse to take responsibility for it, is just SAD. But whats also bad is that after actually researching the company and reviews, I NOTICED THIS HAPPENS ALOT and people are ALWAYS being ignored by SH. Constant complaints and bad reviews about being scammed on towing, being over charged and being ignored. This will start to create lots of legal issues for this company moving forward. People, companies , everyone makes mistakes, its time for SH to fix theirs.

I have been reaching out day after day not without any type of response from them. Still fighting to get my $200 back they took.

**HEAD UP: the towing company even said that spot hero gives the money back and they are partnered together. So a towing company working alongside a parking company and all of these "unauthorized" towings are happening, ITS PLANNED OUT. The money goes right back into the company.
