Worst controller I have ever purchased.

Products with planned obsolescence, not worth your money

"I have 2 controllers from them. Scuf infinity pro - one is an upgraded controller, the other is the base model.

Both controller paddles become unresponsive within 6 months of using them. I sent both back in for repair (that was another cool 60 dollars per controller) and both promptly had the exact same issue, unresponsive paddles, within 6 months of getting them back. That is 4 separate occasions where the exact same thing happened.

You cannot open the casing for self repair / cleaning because there is a security screw present. This is essentially a recurring annuity for them. They don't stand behind their product. You are also responsible for shipping and "labor." ie them using their proprietary screw driver to open the controller, use an air duster, maybe some solvent and close it back up in five minutes.

Don't be like me and waste your money and time with these controllers.

stupid amount of money for something that doesn't last

"controller worked well for about 7 or 8 months and then wouldn't connect. I spent an ungodly amount of money on this controller and tried to call support. their warranty? 6 months. it was going to cost me money about 60 bucks to ship it have them fix it and then send it back. biggest rip off I've ever payed for. DO NOT PAY MONEY FOR THIS JUNK"

You pay for the looks, not the durability and product quality.

"Let's start from the beginning: I ordered a Scuf Infinity in late May and had it delivered 2 weeks later around the 9th of June. I was excited and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The controller looked amazing and I easily disregarded all of the bad reviews because I simply wanted to try one myself. Using the controller was incredible, everything worked fine until a month later I started noticing stick drift. I endured this annoying stick drift through the entire summer and the majority of the fall as well, as I had a league that I had to play in. Once the league finished I decided to send the controller back for "repair" on the 15th November. Nov 27th, the controller came back. No issues with the delivery, awesome. Felt strange using the Scuf again at that point but what I immediately noticed is that they simply sent me a new Scuf with the exact same accessories that I had put on my last controller, I could tell it was new because the serial number wasn't matching and the grip pattern on the back wasn't the same, nor were there any scratches that the previous one had.

The right stick was loose since the day I got the controller back since I wanted to test if there was no stick drift, making sure they did their job. They sure did make a solid new controller except for the fact that pushing the right stick to the left is much easier and there is nothing stopping the stick whereas pushing it to the right requires some force because the stick is in place from that side at least. Fast forward to late January, I started noticing slight stick drift and hoped it wouldn't go past that. Every day after that, it got worse and worse. As I am writing this review, the stick drift is in its worst state yet (even worse than the previous controller) and I cannot do any micro adjustments whilst aiming because the drift kicks in and snaps off to the left of the target. Whatever people say fixes the controller WITHOUT having to take the controller apart and resolder the right stick with a new part, it's a lie.

The durability of this controller is an absolute joke and the fact that I've had the same issue with both of the controllers, triggered in the exact same way is ridiculous. Cleaning the controller worked last week, now it's pointless to do so. Aesthetically, the best looking controller but my goodness does the thing lack any durability! After a month and a half of use while only playing on the weekends and sometimes on weekdays shows the durability of the Infinity 4PS.
In summary, don't buy - you're (almost literally) a million times better off buying Kontrol Freeks and a Strike Pack for a little less than half the price of a Scuf controller.

DO NOT BUY FROM SCUF - EVER! SCUF Impact Controller - dead on arrival and impossible to return

"Ordered a customer SCUF IMPACT Controller for the PS4 mid December. Arrived on Jan 17 - dead on arrival, with critical button (marked with a square) not working - the click even sounds differently when pressed compared to the other buttons. Phone support cannot be reached. Placed 20 calls over the next week - only to get calls dropped after 15 to 30min waiting in Scuf's holding pattern (with horrible music, on top)... Finally got an email response on Jan 27 - filled with useless suggestions concerning adjusting the hair buttons on the other side etc... and to disconnect and to re-pair the controller with the gaming console etc... ignoring that this is a mechanical issue... Scuf support then suggested to send in for repair... with us paying for insured return shipment - Seriously... received DoA item, I should pay for return and then wait another few weeks for repair??? Now got the credit card company involved and will have them reverse the charge."

Scam!

"Pre ordered the Vantage on July 5th. Was told it would ship at the end of August. Well August came and went and there was no word. I contacted the company and was told it would be a week. A week went by and still nothing. Finally after online pressure the company sent out a notice on twitter it would be the end of September. I should have cancelled then. I didn't. September rolled by and no controller. I contacted the company and was told, "You ordered in July there are people who have been waiting a lot longer than you." I should have cancelled here as well. I didn't. Finally on October 10th I received my controller. Without the custom parts I ordered. However they put a nice note in that they would ship them within 40 days. Whatever. I should have returned it here as well, I will forever regret I didn't.

Out of the box the controller was a failure. The magnets that hold the D-Pad on fell off and I had to re glue to make it operational. The bluetooth would not work at all. The mapping of the keys had to be relearned after every shut down. If I set the hair triggers the front buttons no longer worked. It was a mess. Company refused a return stating their 14 day return policy. 14 days, 14 days is all they back this with. I could send it in for repairs they stated. Well I was gearing up to do that when the company, after severe backlash online, decided to address the issues and claimed they had a fix. So I waited for the fix which was a firmware update only available via Win10. After installing the "fix" I had four blissful hours of the controller working perfectly. Then right stick drift. I tried the online trick, no luck.

I contacted the company via chat and the "supervisor" said since I had the controller for 2 months why was I complaining that 2 months was more than enough time to need a repair. I explained the controller never really worked well and pointed out they promised they would make it right on facebook and twitter. I asked if I could downgrade to the impact, or take a partial refund. No none of these were options and she even told me I was going to have to pay for the repair. I told her no. She reluctantly sent out a repair form. I sent the whole unit back, extras and all and waited. And waited. At day 30 after hearing nothing from the company I got my credit card involved. I explained and sent ALL documentation. I asked my credit card company to refund me because now I'm out the money and the product. At day 48 I got a notice from UPS, not Scuf, never Scuf, that the controller had shipped. Ground. Not two day or overnight after having me wait for 48 days, ground. I'm not sure if this is in response to my credit card company or what. The controller is not here yet so unsure if it's actually been repaired, or if it will just break again.

Steps I have taken. I contacted my attorney generals office. I wrote the BBB. I made my CC company aware. I have contacted a lawyer to see about a class action suit. $220 down the drain, a faulty product, a scam company.

BUYERS BEWARE of Scuf Vantage Controller Quality & HORRIFIC Customer Service

"TERRIBLE does not begin to explain the experience we've had with Scuf customer service!!!!
My son has used two other Scuf controllers and has been satisfied with the quality and performance of each. However, the new scuf vantage controller that we received just after Christmas was missing an extension piece, buttons and paddles are sticking, which significantly interferes with competitive gaming, and when we tried to contact customer service by phone, we cannot reach a live person...only get hung up on by the automated system when a # option is pressed. I've reached out to customer support by email...no response, other than the automated "we will review your submission as soon as possible" email. With their strict return policy, this lack of responsiveness to our questions is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable; especially at this price point! I plan to leave a review on every site possible to warn potential customers of the kind of experience they can expect from the Vantage controller product and Scuf as a company! Pathetic!

Horrible customer service repairs. dec. 2 - jan. 4

"Sent my controller for in for repairs on Dec. 2 for what I thought was going to be 2 minor trigger repairs. Right trigger stop was broken and left trigger came off its hinge so I was unable to press is correctly. Spent 10 days in "testing" to find out they also wanted to replace the entire main unit. So for the repairs it would cost me a total of $70 dollars to fix.........ugh. but whatever my hands were tied at this point so I said ok and paid them on Dec. 10th. The email said give it 7-14 days for the controller to be sent back. Called on Dec. 22 and they said due to the holidays it was taking longer than expected and would be sent back the week of Dec. 31. I wasn't happy about that to begin with but what was I going to do so I said OK. Well....its now Jan. 4th and I just got off the phone with customer service and they said it just got done with the testing process and would be shipped "probably" on Monday! They told me that 2 weeks ago! This is an absolute joke at this point. I asked for a refund and to send my controller back as it is and they told me that was not possible. Asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no manager available? Umm. guess that's the reason nothing is getting done. Stay away from this company. I'm going with Razer products from now on. DO NOT BUY EVER

"DO NOT BUY FROM SCUF EVER! I REPEAT EVER!!! They are by far the WORST company I have ever purchased from in my entire life. I purchased the controller - which never came - with very high hopes and expectations. After not receiving it I emailed them twice with no response. So I decided to call them which was an ever bigger disaster. They will keep you on hold for 20+ and then hang up. Call back and you will be on hold for another 20 minutes and then be hung up on. When you finally do get someone on the phone they give you a run around claiming "we still have to wait for our third party vendor to confirm your claim". No access to speaking with management who I assume are extremely incompetent. Please, I beg you, do not spend in excess of $150 on an average controller from a company who could care less about you. The motto at scuf is "if they're not a pro gamer put them at the back of the line" and my god can you tell. "

Bad customer service and expensive repairs.

"I initially had no problem with my scuff but after a few months the left analog stick started to malfunction when it would stop my character from sprinting. I sent it out and got an email saying they received it, after two weeks of no response I finally decided to call them. When you call, an animated system tells you to wait 7 minutes and after those seven minutes are up, they hang up on you! I did this 3 times until I was finally fed up with them. I had to contact them using the online chat instead, after being told they didn't understand why they hadn't got back to me, they told me they'll find someone to call me back or email me. The next day they tell me that the main board needs to be replaced including front and back shells since they don't make my model anymore supposedly. $80 to replace, that's about half of what the controller cost me, i might as well stick to DS4's. I was under the expression that repairs wouldn't cost this much but I was definitely wrong and I bet their lying about what's wrong as well. I'll never buy from them again."

My experience

"This review is a year in the making! However my significant other had purchased a Scuf gift card for me last Christmas(2017)! Needless to say I was genuinely excited and didn’t waste anytime to order a controller. I followed the necessary steps through the website, and revived my invoice and receipt Christmas night. The website updates you periodically as it goes through the steps of production, unfortunately my order stopped at “processing” phase which I didn’t think was an issue being ordered at a busy time of the year and also right after a holiday..... I tried to not stress the situation and walk away from it for the time being and it will get to me when it gets to me, which worked for a little bit until I realized that my order has not left the processing step in 4 1/2 weeks. I was confused, I called up customer support, sat on hold for about an hour, once I got someone on the line my confusion turned to anger when they were unsure as to why my controller hasn’t gone into production. Needless to say I asked for a superviser to call me back, which they did.... a day or so later... they ensured me that they will make my order top priority and rush the order which I guess they did because I received shipping notification three days later. Once my order was resolved they had the audacity to ask for feedback, once I provided my scathing feedback I was told there was an issue with parts being on back order (possible truth but also sounds like a cop out excuse)... which honestly I would have been fine with if someone would have actually communicated to me. I never got any additional responses from customer support once they gave me the excuse. I was mad but I just let it go and I recived the controller a week later. Cut to a around six months in the future I start noticing some slight issues with the left joystick. Once every few minutes it would stop working for a brief second. It felt the same way as if I had walked into an ingame object and I was being obstructed. I didn’t actually think it was anything for a month or two until I tried one of the original controllers that came with the ps4. I researched the issue and found a few people with the same issues who just RMAed the product and had it fixed by Scuf. I eventually reached out to tech support and explaind my situation, they issued me an RMA# and I sent my controller back. They received it, and contacted me back 8 days later saying they needed to replace the board but it was going to cost me another 60 dollars to repair and to ship my controller back to me as this was past the 90 day warranty. So in short, it’s priced like a premium product, it feels like a premium product, they marketed as a premium product. But it’s not built to last, the customer service is lacking and is just unsympathetic. I would advise anyone to just steer away. "

Not worth the absurd price

"Scuf controllers are worth no more then 60$. They are insanely overpriced, especially considering the average lifespan of these controllers is shorter than a Sony controller. After just a couple months of intermittent use, the left joystick of my controller has become unresponsive and laggy. None of the online solutions to fix it have seemed to work. I contacted scuf to get it repaired and they couldn’t even give me a price for repair! They want me to ship them an addition $20-$60 so they can fix the controller I already paid hundreds for! Not to mention the physical look of the controller. At first the controller looked nice but after only a few weeks the exterior coating of the controller had begun to peel. The build quality of these controllers is disgusting. I would not recommend a scuf to my worst enemy. The only positive reviews scuf receives, are about the customer service, which (to be fair) is pretty good. But the product they are selling is far too expensive for the shoddy controller you receive. I wouldn’t pay more than $90 for a scuf. And that’s being generous. You are better off buying a Sony PS4 controller as it won’t break in a couple months. "
