"The Egg Chair I purchased from these guys is fabulous! I was going to be near the Regency Shop's L.A. warehouse, so they let me come and pick it up that same day. They were very friendly and helpful and let me inspect the item then loaded it into my car for me. It looks GREAT in my home; it makes the room look sleek and modern, love it!!!! "

"In March, 2012 I was shopping for a modern look for an a new fitness studio scheduled for opening in April. At first visit to www.recencyshop.com the site seemed to have the pieces I wanted to create a fresh, modern appeal, and the prices were great. I was aware www.regency.com sells reproductions, this is what I was searching for. Their in-house customer reviews posted on their site were good, the images of the products seemed comparable to other sites, so I looked off-site for more consumer reviews, I saw some good and a few scathing, negative reviews of www.regencyshop.com post on www.resllerratings.com

Now, what can I say, the lure of the colours, the great clean lines of the mid-century designer reproduction furniture were just too irresistible, especially at the prices quoted. So I decided to risk it, dove in and made contact with sales at www.regencyshop.com. The sales person responded with speed and enthusiasm and within a couple days we had put together a nice size order, 1 "Wassily Chair", 2 "Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs", 1 "LC 3 Grande Sofa", 1 "LC 2 Petite Sofa-2 Seater", 1 "LC4 Chaise Lounge", and 1 "Eileen Gray" Side Table. Beautiful pieces, hopefully all would turn out to be as pictured... Now just to get a quote? 3 days past and no reply, so I emailed the sales person for follow up, so we could move order to payment and get things shipping. This is where things turned interesting. The reply came from Lisa, operations manager at www.regencyshop.com and she stated the the previous sales rep were no longer working for www.regencyshop.com. What the f_ _ _ ??? I thought I should run for the hills and in no way whatsoever dish my credit card info their way. Lisa reconnected with me, was forthcoming and assuring. What can I say? I took a chance and shopped with www.regencyshop.com. It all seemed aboveboard, good platform, people answering phones, corporate emails. The clincher for me was one thing, a service, product and delivery date of March 30th-- guaranteed. This was all just to get my business, and it worked. On March 22, my order for 1 "Wassily Chair", 2 "Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs", 1 "LC 3 Grande Sofa", 1 "LC 2 Petite Sofa-2 Seater", 1 "LC4 Chaise Lounge", and 1 "Eileen Gray" Side Table was processed and about $4000 was charged to my Visa, never to be seen again.

From that point, a transaction record arrived by email and then all after-sale communications with www.regencyshop.com stopped. Strange I thought, considering the terrific delivery date promise made by Lisa, I at least expected tracking info for the order, 1 "Wassily Chair", 2 "Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs", 1 "LC 3 Grande Sofa", 1 "LC 2 Petite Sofa-2 Seater", 1 "LC4 Chaise Lounge", and 1 "Eileen Gray" Side Table. After 4-5 days, I tried connecting by phone and email regarding shipment tracking. Dead, not a peep or a ping, not a ring, nothing for days. Then finally I sent a update me on this order msg through the www.regencyshop.com "customer service" email and received a reply with a tracking # with Pacific Logistics Corp.

For the next week I got to enjoy watching the status of this shipment remain unchanged. So I contacted PLC direct and learned they were holding a shipment, one destined for me, but because Lisa didn't include a commercial manifest with the www.regencyshop.com order it will be stuck at LAX until such documentation arrived. 4 more days pass, then finally a change to the shipment status, it shrunk!! Somehow from 7 pieces: 1 "Wassily Chair", 2 "Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs", 1 "LC 3 Grande Sofa", 1 "LC 2 Petite Sofa-2 Seater", 1 "LC4 Chaise Lounge", and 1 "Eileen Gray" Side Table, it's down to 5 pieces. Missing pieces? Which ones? Contact PLC again and learn still no commercial manifest yet from Lisa. Also learn the order never was complete, some of it never left www.regencyshop.com. I kindly ask PLC to not ship order to me, even if proper documentations arrive before I cxl my order, hopefully using the same "customer service" links as previously used to get some tracking info. PLC agrees and within 1 hour guess who's calling me direct, it's Lisa. "Hi Fred, it's Lisa. What seems to be the problem?" BTW, she doesn't know that I have been talking by email and phone with the shippers, nor does she know that I know the shipment is incomplete. I tell her all I know and she still insists the order is complete, on the ground at LAX and ready to go. Two weeks later than promised I may add... So it's still a week or more away--at best! She's been dishonest with me from the start to get a sale, and I tell her I have the manifest from PLC, only half the order is waiting to go, she knows this and still lies directly to me. I tell her PLC emailed the manifest to me, I see several pieces are not shipping. Unbelievable!!!! Then she tells me that the missing pieces are pending in 2 days and will be out to me asap. Honesty people, it's the best and easiest way to do business. 100% of the time. You may tick people off, but if you're honest with us, we will likely work with you.

So instead of shipping me 1 "Wassily Chair", 2 "Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs", 1 "LC 3 Grande Sofa", 1 "LC 2 Petite Sofa-2 Seater", 1 "LC4 Chaise Lounge", and 1 "Eileen Gray" Side Table. Dishonest staff at www.regencyshop.com are trying to ship (poorly I may add) an order with 1 "Wassily Chair", 2 "Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs", 1 "LC 2 Petite Sofa-2 Seater", 1 "LC4 Chaise Lounge". We go back and forth some about honesty, integrity, etc and I tell her there's nothing she can offer--I want a refund credited to my Visa. She says, she's not responsible for those decisions, just like she's not responsible for shipping manifests, promises made, etc, etc. She's going to talk with her boss, Mike, GM at www.regencyshop.com. Whatever, whoever? I don't care, promises were made and unfulfilled--I just just want a refund now and I don't care who's responsible for it--just get them in touch with me.

Later, that same day, GM MIke calls. He's adamant about correcting things, firing people, etc. etc. It's all a big show to get me to reverse and take the order. No way. I just want a refund. I'm waiting for it and he comes out with it, slightly angry to-boot. He wants to keep 25% for cxl fees and restocking charges :o) No way. We leave the discussion with him offering a refund of 95% within 24 hours, if, and only if I agree to delete my posted online review of www.regencyshop.com, and not to review any further on any other online consumer review sites. I agree to this in principle, when I have my refund in hand, I provide this in writing via reply email.

Within 1 hour, an email alert lands suggesting that a transaction from www.regencyshop.com has occurred for the value of promised refund. Now, it gets even more interesting because it's 3 days since then and nothing credited to my Visa. What would you do? Well I update my online review of the ongoing experience with www.regencyshop.com, then I connect with GM, Mike. He, like Lisa isn't responsible for anything whatsoever. It's out of his hands altogether and I'm stupid, an idiot and whatever else you can think he called me--he has. Each day since I have updated my review online of their retail offer, which is the truth and my only expectation was to pay for something and receive it as advertised and on the date promised to get the sale. Today, GM, Mike posted a review of my business online through YELP. He tore apart my principles, scruples, values, my character and qualifications. He's never even met me, or been a business client. Over what? Me wanting to do business with www.regencyshop.com, and then wanting to reverse the deal because www.regencyshop.com couldn't or wouldn't deliver on promises in a timely manner. GM, Mike and Lisa should both hang their heads in shame, they are terrible business people.

I suggest you, as a consumer strongly review any websites doing e-trade, especially those across great distances from your homes. Eventually, like me you'll just have to trust your gut feeling... But I can say for sure, do not do business with www.regencyshop.com, online reseller of such cool pieces as order, 1 "Wassily Chair", 2 "Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs", 1 "LC 3 Grande Sofa", 1 "LC 2 Petite Sofa-2 Seater", 1 "LC4 Chaise Lounge", and 1 "Eileen Gray" Side Table.

Currently, I'm working with the staff at my Visa bank, connecting with the BBB in Fullerton, CA where www.regencyshop.com operates and readying to contact the police in same area as www.regencyshop.com. They have lots to answer for.

UPDATE:

It's 5 days since receiving the bogus refund transaction record from www.regencyshop.com, still no credit to Visa. Buyers be very, very aware of these scammers. Crooks, all of them.

UPDATE:

Official complaint submitted today to the Better Business Bureau. Be aware of these operators. If you have encountered poor business practices and problems while doing business with www.regencyshop.com, please file your complaint with the BBB.

UPDATE: It's June 28th and GM, Mike has done several retaliatory reviews of my business here in Halifax, NS Canada. He's never been a client. He's sent weird emails to local businesses here trying to damage my reputation. In doing so all he accomplished was upsetting some nice people and driving away potential online business for his own ventures. Tsk Tsk

"Very appealing from the website but hard to imagine how they can keep the prices so low. I took a chance and found out. Regency is bare bones efficient operation that passes the value on to the customer. Make no mistake, this furniture (I ordered four chairs and a table) is well worth the price. I am thrilled to have a look I never thought I could afford. Any problems? Sure, I had some shipping damage to a table. If you read the reviews for Regency Shop you will realize Lisa is the one who gets all the praise and blame. If you have a little patience it is nothing but praise. I guess the complaints come from those who expect instant service at a bargain price. Based on my experience Lisa does an incredible job. My damaged table was replaced with no hassle at all. I had to wait a week--big deal! Regency Shop is a terrific value and my dealings with Lisa result in nothing but praise. Will I order again, you bet. Would I recommend them to others, Absolutely. Am I a company employee writing a good review? Don't be ridiculous--I am just a customer searching for real value and realistic about what to expect. Fortunately believed the 5 star reviews which were all spot on. Thanks Regency and Thanks Lisa."

"We have bought three chairs from the Regency Shop for our new offices. All three arrived in perfect condition and were of good quality. Their prices have also been far below the market for the type of design we wanted. On the second order they had a backorder issue due to high demand and proactively gave us the choice of stopping the order or waiting for the back order to clear in order to make delivery of our chairs. We chose to wait the extra time since the pricing was so good and we had been well cared for by their team. Their help line professional, Lisa, is always very helpful and stays in touch via email and phone same day as any of our inquiries. We will buy from them again. Thanks Regency Shop, great job!."

"Oder item, send cheap fakes that look nothing like the picture and wanted to keep 50% of the money. Shipping was delay 3 time. You end up with a very low grade item at double the price.

To get your money back, immediate file with your credit card company and declare it as a fraud(shipping of wrong items). They charge your credit card immediately and do not shipped 20 to 30 days latter. So you must move fast or you may loose your money. You have to email and call. Asked for the supervisor of your credit card company if needed. This site is a scam. Shipping fee is incorrectly billed. Restocking and etc..., you may loose 50% of your money if you are not careful. There is too many thing wrong with this site to count.

"Unless you want to go out there and spend 5000+ on a real Barcelona Chair, this is the place to buy a nice replica! We had some issues with the cushions but they were replaced. Lisa worked well with communicating with us and keeping us posted. Shipping was a little slow but I find that to be the norm with most online furniture purchases I make. I would definately shop here again."

"DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH REGENCYSHOP.COM

After repeated contacts with them they lied to me on the phone every time. I've spent the month of October being lied to about receiving my order and the past ten days being lied to about when I would get my refund after cancelling my order.

Either they are incredibly incompetent or just outright fraudulent. Either way, they don't care.


Summary of my experience:

10/01 - order 2 zenith stools, the charge on my credit card was the fastest and only action that I ever saw regencyshop.com perform
10/11 - Lisa - order status? "just got them in, 3 days to ship"
10/17 - Lisa - order status? "I was on vacation...they ship this week", hung up on me
10/24 - Lisa - leave message, never returned
10/25 - Lisa - leave message, never returned
10/26 - Jane - finally the "truth" on my order status, set to receive the order mid December, 70+ days from the order. No problem for me to cancel my order and receive a full refund, just mail ****@****.
10/26 - Mailed support and CANCELLED the order.
10/26 - Jane called me - tried to renegotiate the order but I'm done with them and don't trust them. She told me to expect the credit to my account in 72 hours.
10/27 - Jane - Is there a cancellation notice or anything? Nope, she just told me to check my account for the credit
11/02 - Jane - credit status? Some obvious runaround lies "expect your credit within 2 days"
11/04 - Jane - credit status? More runaround lies "expect your credit within 3 days"
11/07 - today - they have still not processed the return and credited me so I'm disputing the charge through my credit card, taking them up with the BBB.

I suspect that the 5 star reviews here are written by the owners of the site, they read like advertisement copy.

"I purchased the bubble chair from this store. The quality is fantastic, but the shipping/handling time is a bit long. It took about 3 weeks to get my chair. However, my daughter loves her bubble chair!
I looked at other websites and no one had the comfortable cushions that we wanted, so we finally settled on Regency Shop.
Overall, good quality but somewhat slow shipping. But if you are not in a huge rush, then the prices and quality cannot be beat at this store.
I will shop here again

"Read all the Regencyshop reviews her on ResellerRatings.com: The number of poor reviews has to at least place a "red flag" in your mind that there are issues when dealing with Regencyshop. I wish I would have come here prior to my purchase.

Very long story short:

I initially backed away from this site because my first dealings with them was less than favorable - I felt all they wanted was a sale. I eventually returned because I was looking for a specific chair that they stated was a replica, at a great price.

Unfortunately, I should have listened to my first instincts. At pick-up, never have I seen a worker try open a wood crate and pull a part bubble wrap with a screw driver, and never have I seen workers work so slow.

Upon review of the product, I noticed a scuff that I was told would go away. However, I wasn't going away until I had proof. After about 20 minutes of the product now being stained with water, I was reluctantly offer another. When I got the item home, I found "chair stuffing" coming out of the bottom of the chair and when assembled, the chairs deminsion were nothing like the "replica" chair it was replicating. A piece of hardware that was provided to place on the bottom of the chair (to stop the stuffing from escaping) didn't even fit.

When it came to trying returning the damaged item, and after following all the necessary procedures, Regencyshop made no effort on a refund nor an exchange. Instead, I received several emails telling me how I was in the wrong.

Regencyshop states NO SURPISES on their website. However, buyer beware: THERE ARE MANY SURPRISES when purchasing.

The Egg chair I purchased is not a replica, nor is it the same size, material, quality or structure of the actual chair and Regencyshop would do nothing about the false advertising and damaged project.

Time admitting, I plan on taking my issue to the BBB. In the meantime, watch yourself with your purchase. If you're satisfied with your purchase, life should be grand. If you have issues with your item, don't look for Regencyshop to do a darn thing!

NOTE: They always function under another name: elegancycode.com., so watch out!

"I recently purchased the wire mesh table from Regency Shop. It's a knockoff of a Platner table so I didn't expect it to be exactly like the original BUT I did expect it to look like the one that they show on their website. My husband went to pick it up from the warehouse and examined it but was not as familiar with the design as I am. Also he didn't have the website image in front of him. When I finally saw the table, I immediately noticed some obvious difference. I called Regency and was quickly told by Jessica REPEATEDLY and AGGRESSIVELY that no I was wrong. That the photo of the table on the website is the actual table. I explained that the detail photos may be of the table they sold me but the overall photo is not. Plus it's not possible to get an impression of the whole table from closeup photos- that's what the overall photo is for . She insisted but then either she or Lisa admitted that the overall photo is of the dining table but that they're the same. They're NOT. Then of course they refuse to let me return it since my husband examined it (for damages not false advertising). Lisa said to send an email and that higher ups would review it but the same afternoon I received a reply that she was put in charge of the decision and it was (of course) NO RETURN, on the basis of policy. Of course pickups from the warehouse are cash only, probably so customers really have no recourse if they're dissatified. Don't buy from them- they misrepresent their merchandise and then are unwilling to accept responsibility."

"I have never been this dissatisfied with a company before. I purchased 2 black Ibiza chairs for my husband's birthday. I expected to receive them within 2 weeks as it says on their website but had not heard anything after 3 weeks, so gave them a call. Every time I called, the phone was not answered and my messages were returned several days later. I was told that they were on back order and would arrive 8/25/11, exactly one month after they were ordered. They actually arrived 9/6/11, but were the wrong color. They were white, when I specifically ordered black. I immediately called Regency Shop and was told the "customer service agent," Lisa, would call me back. She finally called me back and told me that it had been my mistake and that I had ordered the wrong color. She then told me her manager would call me back within an hour. Two hours and multiple calls later, I finally got a hold of Lisa, who told me again that it was my fault and that I received a receipt for my white chairs back when I ordered them. The only receipt that I received stated "2-Ibiza Chair - Pure Leather Stainless Steel" and did not specify a color. During our 20 minute conversation, never once did she take responsibility for her mistake or try to make it right but rather tried to put the blame on me in every way. To top it off, she hung up on me. I will be holding payment on my credit card because I have never received the chairs I ordered. Never do business with Regency Shop! They will make mistakes on your order, blame it on you, and not take responsibility for their actions!"
