The absolute worst online merchant I've ever dealt with

"A December 27, 2017 Better Business Bureau press release title says it all: "BBB Warns Consumers Outside Outfitters LLC Fails to Deliver Goods, Refunds in Timely Fashion". The headline is a real understatement -- one unfortunate woman had to wait a year to receive a refund from Outdoor Outfitters!

What the press release doesn't mention is that if you do receive what you've ordered, it could arrive stinking of cigarette smoke, as did the product I ordered.

I find it incredible that this two-man company can remain in business. Read internet forums for the accounts of other shoppers, and you might be wondering the same.

FRAUDULENT

"Ordered a $225 jacket on 10/26. Outside Outfitters charged my card immediately, which I thought was strange. They never provided any anticipated delivery dates, tracking information, NOTHING. After 10 days and no jacket I called customer service, which somehow could provide ZERO information. Instead I received an email later which literally states “there seems to be a bit of a backup at the warehouse”. Seriously it’s a joke it looks like a 4th grader wrote the email. Anyways, I decided to be patient, but with no luck. After 30 days and still no jacket, I emailed again, this time to receive anther petty response “ Rather than give you an estimated ship date that is not guaranteed, we will notify you when we have confirmed shipping”. Are you kidding... a month after they took my money they still can’t tell me a single detail about my order? Warning: they will try to string you along with BS excuses in hopes that you will just eventually give up, but don’t give up. I filed a chargeback with my credit card company, who’s fraud dept will be certainly be paying Outside Outfitters a visit soon. I’m also going to report them to the FTC and BBB. Avoid Outside Outfitters at all costs. This is a fraudulent website which did nothing more than steal from me. They need to be brought down before more innocent people are scammed."

Bogus store

"This is not a real store. It is an internet front. Likely all the positive reviews below are fake. I ordered a set of Soma Fitesse EX tires, paid extra for 3-day shipping, and a week later order is still "processing." They do not have customer service, it is outsourced to a 3rd party that cannot help, and simply "refers" you to OutsideOutfitters customer care department. THIS IS NOT A REAL BUSINESS. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

Outside Outfitters should be banned from internet sales.

"I ordered an item four weeks ago and still have not received it, even though on their web site it says it is available. They charged my credit card shortly after I ordered the item, which I believe is illegal. I have inquired about this order two times and get a response that they are waiting on a shipment which includes the item I ordered (which still says it is available on their website). This is an internet scam company and should be shut down. I will initiate a dispute claim with my credit card company tomorrow."

Outside Ethics And Decency

"I ordered from them on the 25th. My order includes a Marmot sleeping bag. According to their site, it takes five to seven days, plus shipping time, to fulfill the order.

Well, it's the 12th and I still have nothing. I'm leaving for a trip (for which I ordered the sleeping bag) on the 18th. I just got an e-mail saying the order is "in process" and is within the normal time parameters.

I should have known something was amiss when they took my money as soon as I placed the order, even though it was a Sunday, but took more than two weeks before they even communicated with me. Most other retailers don't charge your credit or debit card until they've shipped your order.

They're in Missouri, so I'll say to them: Show me some customer service!

Ripped off

"I ordered parts they showed in stock on website and paid for fast shipping.
Two weeks later when I inquired about the status of the order I was told there was a delay from his suppliers.
Two months later I asked for a refund as I still had not received either of my purchases.
That was three weeks ago and I have gotten nothing back.
"Ken" will not fulfill your order, and to be clear Ken is the company and all of the bs company departments he cites to string you out.
He's counting on you getting frustrated and walking away.
I'm headed to my banks to try and get my money back.
Don't make the same mistake I made- this is a failed business who's proprietor has become a common thief.
